Now It's Time To Say Goodbye
It was our last morning waking up in Disney, always the saddest morning of a trip. Alish got up early to get ready for work, so there I was up and ready for the day at 6:30am…with nothing to rush too. So I packed up all my things and admired my disney haul I managed to collect over the few days.
Alish headed to work a little before 7:30, we all said our goodbyes because at this point we all believed this would be the last time we saw her for who knows how long. Surprise it would not be.
We laid around the room and Danielle got ready to head over to MK for the morning. (Must be nice being able to still have the AP luxury of going to a park whenever you want) She headed over to the park around 8:30 in order to give her time to put her bag in storage.
Once she left Kiss and I took it upon ourselves to finish the rest of the seltzers. Nothing says breakfast of champions, like some alcohol.
Around 9 we decided to call it an end with our time at the contemporary. Goodbye beautiful views. Goodbye having the monorail right outside my door. Goodbye seeing the castle when I open my door.
I never had a need to stay here, it was never a resort that screamed disney vibes as some of the others on property. However staying here changed me. I loved it, I loved the quick walk to MK. Do I see myself staying here any time soon? No. But maybe one day.
Since we didn’t want to waste our time laying around in the room until checkout we decided to put all our things in storage and go in search of christmas decorations around the monorail loop. First stop was the Gflo.
With that being said the tree is always marvelous
but it doesn’t feel like the holiday season without the gingerbread house. I feel like that just makes this lobby during this time of year. And I sure did miss it.
Today we decided to try out something new…and that would be walk from the Gflo to the Poly. I never had a need to do this but with the monorail down, a nice cooler morning breeze, it just seemed necessary.
Now that I have been lucky to stay at all three monorail loop resorts, the Polynesian wins in my book. Everything about this resort is perfect, the theming, the rooms (and now the Moana rooms! They look amazing and I’m ready to give Disney all my money) the feeling you get just walking around the resort grounds, the food…and it gets major points for Trader Sams (which I’m patiently waiting for them to open up, even if its just the terrace)
We kept on walking and got to the TTC. There we had to go through temperature checks and bag check.
TTC got me good because the Joffery stand took my money for another Gingerbread latte.
The monorail line for the express monorail was LONG! I’m not sure people were aware they could take the resort monorail with one quick stop at the Gflo. While everyone was waiting for the express we walked on to an empty monorail to MK
We got to MK in no time and it was heartbreaking not being able to get in. So instead we hopped on my favorite mode of transportation. We waited for the WL boat because we decided to go to Geyser Point for lunch.
My favorite view on all of Disney property is being on a boat on the seven seas lagoon and seeing the castle and train station, bonus points when the train is actually running and you hear that in the distance. I love this so much that the “brown” castle in the distance almost ruins it for me just a bit.
Ask me which resort I’m obsessed with….this one. Wilderness Lodge is my favorite, but decorate it for christmas and its the best lobby around.
While we waited for Danielle to arrive at the resort, we decided to browse the gift shop. They really did come out with new merch and I wanted everything. Danielle found us and it saved my wallet from making any purchases. We headed out to Geyser Point and enjoyed a little snack by the water.
It was a breezy easy afternoon and it made my need for the blanket that I saw in the gift shop that much more needed in my life.
Geyser Point has became one of my favorite things to do on my last day when its not an out of the way trip. I feel like if the dining plan ever comes back, its a great option for a QS credit. You get a drink and a more upgraded meal from your basic cheese burger / chicken nuggets (although I would eat nuggs every day). My go to is normally the chicken sandwich however with the dining plan not a thing I could finally get the brisket dip everyone raves about. Danielle also got the dip and Kiss got the famous burger.
There is a reason this dip is talked about. It was so good! The biggest downfall was the price for what you get. Its a steep price for the little amount you get. So while I really enjoyed it I don’t see me getting this every time.
After lunch we headed back inside where I ended up buying a coffee mug and a blanket…because I have no self control. First I would like to say I always come home with a new mug, which is strange for a girl who hardly drinks coffee or tea but I buy them anyways. Then we have the blanket, in my defense it has the old castle on it and after being disappointed this whole trip with the new color I needed it.
We then said goodbye to WL and headed to the boat dock. While pre pandemic time we could take the boat straight to the contemporary, this is not a thing anymore. So we waited for the boat to come and take us back to MK.
We then walked back to the contemporary, we made sure to keep our suits on us in our backpacks. So we headed straight for the pool and tried to get as much sun as possible.
But first pictures with Mickey
It wasn’t the best swimming weather and the pool was chilly. I made it two steps in a decided swimming was just not in the cards. Probably for the best with the new tat
We laid pool side for almost an hour and when we got ready for that tragical express we learned that NYS was once again closing down. I was very tempted just to stay in Disney because whats the point of even going back now?
3 o'clock hit and the tragical express came to take us away. This is the point that gets boring. We get to the airport, strange how fast it was to get through security, waited to board, got on the plane and headed home. When we got off the plane and headed to the bag claim there was a wall of people waiting for us with clip boards and forms to fill out to basically say we got a COVID test prior to coming into the state and that we were either 2 week quarantining or getting another test. When we got home my mother informed us how hard it was to get a test here, unlike Disney were we just showed up, in NY you had to make a reservation and no one was testing if you didn’t have symptoms. I called so many places and it became a nightmare where the option to just do the 2 week quarantine was looking better and better. However after stalking rite aids website I managed to snag a spot for my favorite type of testing…self swab.
And with that another Disney trip has ended. For those who have joined along, thank you!
If you want to keep joining along I have some good news, I’m headed back to Disney this weekend. They can’t keep me away for too long. However its not really a Disney disney trip. Brittany asked me about a month ago if I would come visit her, to my surprise it would be super cheap with flights and room (since we had a few CMs lined up to get us discounts) The main reason for the trip is just to hang out with my best friend…meaning we only have one day plan for the parks. We also have been working on something exciting this past month or so that has been taking up all my free time with researching. So hopefully by the end of the trip we will have things figured out and will be able to share the news!
