Speaking of wigs, those endlessly dissected Vanity Fair snaps of Suri and her abundant fringe on top did little to appease conspiracy theorists who are convinced that shenanigans still surround Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
But for the shiny-toothed twosome, the PR battle rages on, and it appears they're pulling out the most powerful weapons in their arsenal to try to remove the air of Xenu-tinged aberrance clinging to them more tightly than Leah Remini to her copy of "Dianetics."
In recent days, they've not only stepped out with their respective moms in tow (for some baby shopping and bread-breaking), a move seemingly designed to deflect rumblings of family tension, but this weekend they were back in their photo-op comfort zone, cheering on Cruise's daughter Isabella from the sidelines of her soccer game.
Insiders tell TMZ that this flurry of TomKat face-time is "just the beginning of a carefully crafted, all-out image-remaking offensive" that will climax with what we're guessing will be their "amazing," "magnificent" and "beautiful" nuptials.
And it's a good bet Victoria Beckham will be front and center at the ceremony. Seems the twiggy, perma-tanned Posh Spice has joined the small but vocal contingent of non-L. Ron Hubbard-affiliated Tom and Katie defenders.
"People say he's strange or whatever but he's not, he's just a genuinely lovely caring person," she asserts to the London Mirror. "And Katie? I have to say she's one of the most down-to-earth celebrities I've ever met and they really are great. I couldn't imagine a better person for Tom and it's brilliant that she's made him so happy."
Less convinced is Time magazine, which, in a commentary from James Poniewozik, weighs in on the downward spiraling A-lister's attempts at what it calls "strategic openness."
"How far has he fallen? Look at Vanity Fair's Annie Leibovitz cover photo. Cruise holds Suri, nestled inside his bomber jacket; Katie Holmes peers at -- but doesn't touch -- her baby," he writes. "It is a brilliant, sly metacomment on the whispers about Cruise: Is he too controlling? What creepy power does he have over [Holmes]? What is he hiding? It is the sort of thing that, one suspects, a more powerful Cruise would have vetoed and that the media would have been scared to death to pull on him."

Fall wedding
Tom's publicist is saying the wedding will happen in the next 3-6 weeks. Anyone know exactly when MI:III comes out on DVD? I'm sure we could pinpoint the exact wedding date based on required publicity, right? No word on whether Katie's parents, or even Suri, will attend!!
Baldwin prays for Cruise
