Hello fellow DVCers...but I really think I have a problem. I am retiring after working for my company 44 years.....and on February 28th will be my last day of work. So now all my wife and I talk about is going down to the World. I never could go down during peak times since I worked in retail but now I can go down any time we want. I am gonna need a lot more points....boy we have problems. A lot more points!

Congratulations on your retirement! My husband works retail too so I totally understand!

Welcome to the club....the retirement club that is. My husband retired 3 years ago and he wants to be in WDW all the time. 4 trips a year and he is still wanting to go. We've added on twice and probably need more. He really likes those 1 bedrooms.

Congratulations on your retirement and enjoy your "anytime-you-want" trips!!

44 years in one place! You rock, job well done. - Enjoy!

Enjoy! We also are constantly adding to our points, because now as we approach retirement we find we love the 1 bedrooms! We bring our work with us and work half days, so justify our need for the 1 bedroom that way!:)

Congratulations!

For us, retirement and this particularly cold winter has gotten us to rethink our former idea of using DVC for January and some of February. We now intend to move to FL.

Bobbi:)

I think I will have the same problem in a few years.... I am hoping that I may have solved this problem and maybe this can help you out too.

It seems like a good idea renting distressed timeshares. Most of these rentals are going for less than MF, only drawback, short notice (maybe 3 weeks or less) which may not be a problem if your retired.

Congratulations. The problem (we are in the same age group), is that those extra maintenance fees are a killer, so we will make do with the points we have. It is tough though!:)

Op, congrats! If I were you I would add on a large contract...the larger ones typically go for less $$ per point. Good luck!

OP :cheer2: for your retirement. I have 10 years to go before retiring from the same work place at 35 years.
I am looking at adding on at some more points in the future, when the resale prices come back down. I am going to need more points to get to my dream of having enough points to go from 2 - 5 days each month.

And here I thought me and my husband were the only ones with this retirement dream. He's been with the same company for 39 years, me 27, both in healthcare so not a good pension. We have added on once, would like to again, but the thought of those maintenance points on a fixed income is a little frightening.

I am eagerly reading this thread as I will retire this summer. :surfweb: living vicariously through you for the moment.

Congratulations on the retirement! We became members in 2008 and have already done 4 add-ons:cool1: At some point we're going to have to consider whether it becomes more cost effective to just buy small place or a condo near WDW.:earsboy:
