We had our first trip to Le Cellier on 1/6. As anyone there can report, it was QUITE a chilly night, so the waiting area was slammed. They were very booked, so our 8:00 ADR turned into an 8:30 seating time. Not a big deal, just harder to cope with in the cold ;)

The fun thing was watching all the people wandering in w/o ADR's looking for a seat. It wasn't so much amusing that they were turned away, but that they were so surprised and at times angry that they were turned away. One group of 12 got quite put out that there wasn't a table service to be found.

We were finally seated and our wonderful waitress, Kendra, quickly arrived to introduce herself, tell us about the restaurant and to take our drink orders. She provided wonderful and friendly service through out our dinner, even being professional enough not to tease me when I told her to 86 the multi-grain breadsticks, that we were here for the pretzel sticks :teeth: I also appreciated that she pointed out that the butter was in the shape of Spaceship Earth. Too cute, and a little detail I would have missed otherwise.

I had planned out my meal in advance thanks to the suggestions on DIS. For appetizers, and with great anticipation I ordered the cheese soup. It was quite good, especially with the pretzel sticks. Just a smidge beer heavy, but overall a thumbs up. DH ordered the Candied Salmon.

We have some friends from New Brunswick who told us about candied salmon just a few weeks before, and swore that it was good. It's a good thing that DH ordered it and not me, b/c he pronounced it "good, but aside from the sweet sauce, even though it's cooked it tastes alot like sashimi" and I do not care for sashimi.

For dinner, we both ordered the Mushroom Filet Mignon. We ordered it medium, knowing that usually that means they come out Medium Rare, and this one did not disappoint.

I have to admit, I was skeptical going in. I can be a food snob, and I thoroughly expected this food to be so-so. I love a really good cut of meat, and have been spoiled by a local foodie meat department that sells steaks that are like buttah'. I expected, dunno, something on par with a chain steak place like Outback. But ohhhhhhhhhhhm, zen like trance occuring as I bite into a piece of steak. So tender, well seasoned, ohmmmmmmmm. Loved the little fried parsnips, though oddly my steak and risotto only had, count 'em one mushroom, while DH enjoyed a plethora on his plate which he kindly shared. Not much conversation was shared, however, as we were too busy enjoying our food.

Sadly, however, my enjoyment was cut a little short. I had ridden Mission just about an hour before for the first time. I was a little nervous, but really enjoyed it. Was surprised that I was fine afterward b/c I can get motion sick on spinning rides. Amazingly, I was to be one of those strange birds who experiences a delayed motion effect. As I was sitting there eating, I noticed the room was..errr...swaying a bit. If I looked up from my plate, I'd see the restaurant behind DH's head see-saw briefly. Halfway through my Filet and I'm realizing that while I'm not SICK, I've certainly lost quite a bit of my appetite. Oh the horror!!! DH, ever the man willing to step up the plate, kindly offered to finish the rest of my Filet for me. I have to say, I have never seen the man polish off that much meat in one sitting, It was quite impressive.

Unfortunately, my diminished appetite and DH's overindulgence in the flesh meant that we had to forego the much desired Dessert Sampler. It was a sad sad day. Though we compensated about 2 hours later by having some pastries in France.

We were not on the dining plan, so our meal with one glass of wine for DH and a glass of tea for me, before tip was $96.01 and well worth it.

Thanks for the review. Sorry, for the delayed motion sickness. Hopefully, you'll be able to return to Lecellier and enjoy it! It's one of our families favorite restaurants. :flower:

We are heading to LeCellier's in March and your review just made my mouth water. Oh we can not wait as we LOVE that place.

Great reviews. We're trying Le Cellier for the first time in April I can't wait.

My husband and myself will be trying Le Cellier for the first time also in March and I am so excited! We had ADR's for lunch but the CM who was changing some of my ADR's suggested that we do dinner instead so she changed that for us. As I recall that was probably one of the most helpful CM's that I have ever talked with.

We loved LeCellier on our last trip (May 05). I have been very bad and not booked our ADR's soon enough and we can't get in for dinner for our upcoming trip. I just booked lunch though. Anyone eat here for lunch? Same menu etc?

I also am probably a "food snob" and to be honest we only tried this restaurant last time because we were on the dining plan and most places in World Showcase were not taking it. What a happy surprise! I can't wait to go back.

I had to LOL :rotfl: at your post title. Thanks for the review..makes me even more excited that we decided to make ADRs there for our trip! Sorry to hear about your MS incident :crazy2:. That ride made me barfy, too.

So how were the pretzel breadsticks? Do the multi grain just not measure up? Since you asked for only pretzel breadsticks, is that what she brought you? Small details, I know, but until we go, I have to like vicariously through you and your review!

Thanks :flower:

Le Cellier was my absolute favorite dining experience. I definitely liked the sourdough breadsticks better than the pretzel ones, but then I'm not big on pretzels. I ordered the BBQ glazed filet medium-rare and that was exactly how it was cooked ... it was superb! My daughter had the tastiest prime rib, although DH was less than thrilled with his NY strip. Word of advice if you don't have an ADR for Le Cellier ... Go early. We ate there on January 3rd and had ADRs for 5:40. We arrived around 5:20 and saw that several people without reservations were able to get seated.

Nothing wrong with the multigrain that I know of, but I love Pretzel and Sourdough and knew if there were multigrain taking up bread holder space, then that would mean less of the bread we like and having to wait to ask for more :rotfl: And yes, she brought us only the bread we asked for with only a little bit of a smile when I told her that since I was on vacation I didn't want to waste my time with the "healthier" bread.

We went on our Honeymoon and I have it booked TWICE for our trip in May...the CM indicated that she was surprised we managed to get it twice. But then again, I've never had any problems getting the restaurant I've wanted.

branv: we were there the same night that you were. I agree with you about the people being turned away. Some were really ticked off. I saw one group trying to persuade the hostess to find them a seat since they were from Canada. Hard not to feel smug.

Did you meet the host guy in the front who was very friendly, and played tricks on people? I didn't get his name, but he was fun.

Sorry about the delayed motion sickness thing.

NCRedding...

Was the friendly guy who was playing tricks named Patrick by chance. He may have had a red clow nose or may have been playing with his devil sticks?

If it was, he is awesome on podium.

Just a thought,
Sandra :)

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for posting.

Thank You for the post!!! Sorry about the MS......... We made ADR's here for our upcomming trip, and it sounds fantastic!!!!!! Now, we have a CM to ask for!!!

Thanks!!!

we love Le Cellier too. This upcoming trip we are going twice, and Kendra is the best, she was our server in 2005 and really helped make the whole experience great.

thanks for sharing (well most of it anyway) ;)

Wonderful review! I was sad to be unable to get an ADR for Late Nov., early Dec. of last year and I'm still kicking myself for NOT calling on the 90-day (or 100-day) mark. I also tried to show up to the podium on the off chance that they could seat little 'ole me. No harm in checking, but I also had no luck. But silly people getting peeved about it is crazy! They just don't know about the DIS.
