I need my job, I need the health insurance, I like the fact that it is only 4 miles from home. That said, I really don't like the job. The policies are really strange. It's a family business that is split into 4 separate businesses. The accounting dept has 2 payables clerks, me & another woman; we each do 2 companies. There are 2 collections people, and 2 receivables clerks. An asst controller and a controller. The thing that drives me nuts is the vagueness. I like things to be clear and aboveboard in policy. In the 2 yrs I have been there, we leave at 3 on the Fri before a 3 day weekend. It was on the bulliten board that that was the case last Fri. But when the other payables clerk & I started to leave on fri, the asst controller stopped us and said accting is corporate and we couldn't leave until the controller told us to. sheesh. so we went back to work. Then at 3:30 she comes out & says he had called (he works in a differnet bldg) & we could go.
This is so annoying. Oh well. I am glad I have a job, but retirement is looking better & better. 6 years to go!
