For his second birthday (or maybe it was Christmas, I don't remember)DS got a LeapFrog My First LeapPad which he loves to death. Tonight, he brings it to me and tells me it's 'bokken'. Uh oh....
I fiddle with it and it isn't working quite right. It's like it's stuck..you press the "GO" button on the page and it starts to read the line of text, but stops halfway. If you press another keypoint (which would make a noise, etc) it starts to do it's thing but quits almost immediately.
I took out the cartridge and blew on it. I turned it off and then back on. I put new batteries in it.
It's STILL not working right.
So I put the LeapPad and all the books, etc for it away telling DS it's really broken. He asked me if Daddy could fix it and I told him I didn't know. He was kind of upset about it.
So tonight, after I put him to bed, I went online to see what the next step up from a My First LeapPad is. It's a Leapster 2. Great. Ok.
But it's 70 bucks.
And the games are like 20$ a piece. Lovely.
I don't know if we're going to be able to get DS a Leapster 2 and I feel insanely guilty that DH bought me a Wii, Wii Fit and a couple of other games because that wasn't cheap I know.
I know that even if we only bought the Leapster 2 and two games (which would hold his interest for awhile, or hopefully at least until his birthday) it would be over $100.
AND we still have to buy him some more socks, shirts, etc because he outgrows his clothes SO fast!
UPDATE!
I spoke with the ILs and they have decided they are going to buy a Leapster2 for DS along with a couple of games. They always look for something they can get that's the same for both DS and DNephew1, because they are the exact same age and have fought over toys before when they didn't get the exact same things, like they were brothers instead of cousins.
