Oh, Great, Mom's on her Disney kick again - 1st time ptr

Aw...what a great reveal. I am so happy it went so good. It sounds like a great plan. The kids must be so excited that they are going in Feb. since it is right around the corner.:banana:

No video yet but here's some pics of my creations. The first few are of the autograph books, then the last minute Epcot Passports, then one of the Disney bingo I am working on.

New reader here just wanted to come out of lurking and say hello. Hope ya'll have a great time we'll be counting the days right along with ya!

You're welcome! We're staying at POR 2/11-2/20!

Just today decided to start my own first attempt at a PTR. I've enjoyed reading them all and it does help with the countdown especially when you find others going around the same time!

Just the Two of Us Going to Disney:A Bit of A Belle and Her Not So Beastly Big Guy

HIlarious, we are going the exact same time. Maybe we can meet up, just to say hi or something. Currently we are scheduled to leave on the 18th but I am hoping to change that to the 19th. I will jump over and check out your PRT

Here's wishing that you get you're extra day! We are driving down also leaving on the 11th we'll have about a 6-7 hour drive depending on stops and traffic and other things beyond control. (You guys may even beat us there cause we tend to enjoy the road trip as much as the vacation. I'm hoping we can just keep focused this trip on getting there early!)

It would be great to meet you and your family so keep a look out for the grey-haired lady with the big bald guy!

:lmao: That isn't going to be as easy as you make it sound.

We are leaving here either the 9th or 10th for the drive. It's about 21hours straight through but we are stopping in Georgia for the night and then heading in. Hoping to get to POR by 1 or 2 on the 11th.

It's not a disney trip without some freaking out from the over planner. So I set our plans months ago, picked the parks after careful reading, and thinking. I got our dinnie ressies to follow suit. Well now I am afraid I made a BIG mistake. I keep hearing from everyone that Monday at MK is a BIG NO NO:headache: So of course our first day at MK is on a Monday and not any monday, but Valentine's Day. Are we in over our heads here? Changing this is practically impossible at this point. Not only our ressies, but it's the only night we have planned to be there when the electrical night parade is going on. So if I change it we would lose that, and I already forfitted Fantasmic to avoid heavy crowds. This is a recap of our plan

Friday Feb 11- ARRIVAL no park
Saturday Feb 12- AK
Sunday Feb 13- Epcot
MOnday Feb 14- MK
Tuesday Feb 15- HS
Wednesday Feb 16- MK
Thursday Feb 17- Epcot
Friday Feb 18 IF WE GET LUCKY and get another day- MK

What is the reason MK is a no on Monday? Is it always a no on Mondays or just that week?

Actually I would not worry about it too much. Touringplans has it down as a 4.5 that day and Epcot's crowd level is 5.5! :goodvibes
Stick with your plan, be prepared for crowds and happy if they are not there. We never care which day we go to which park - I pick them by park hours and what we want to see and it has always worked out.
I know you have your kiddies to think about, but the more stressed out you are the less they will be able to enjoy it! ;)

I have finally found the time to catch up on peoples TR and PTR's. I like the things you did with the autograph book and the bingo and passports. I wish it was time for us to go. August is to far away. As far as MK goes i never have found a Monday that bad there. I would stick with your plans. MK is the first park we do no matter what day it is. It doesnt feel like Disney till we turn the corner down Main Street and see the castle.

I have gone on Mondays too. It's not too bad

I got my autograph flip book today. It is so nice. Thanks for the idea!

Thanks for that tidbit, and helping my sanity. I can't change it now, so I need to just chill out. If it's crowded oh well, right? We do have 2 full days and possibly half of a 3rd if we extend by one day like we hope to. Just panicked because it's our first day there and valentines day.

August may seem far, but it will be here before you know it. We planned our trip the beginning on 2010, and booked it the moment rates were released, so we've been waiting a LONG time and now it's only 4 weeks out. DID I just say that?

I have gone on Mondays too. It's not too bad

So glad to hear your book turned out nice. My kids love theirs, I just hope they'll hold up to all of the abuse. I am not going to worry about the Monday thing, nothing is going to change, so why worry?

I can't believe that in 2 days my countdown will be less than 1 month, we will be into days only :cool1: Nothing much has happened on the planning front. I am planning on doing some shopping this week for some of our necessities for the trip. Also it is my goal to sit down with the kids this week and let them do some planning. They have been enjoying there planning books and talking a lot to each other about the rides and what not, so I think they are ready to put together the itineraries. I am so excited for them to help with this part.

I realized I have a dilema and what til you hear my nonplanning husband's solution. 2 of our 4 kids have totally outgrown their summer clothes, and well being in MIchigan summer clothes are impossible to find right now. I realize it may be chilly still, but saying it's not, it was 70's when we went a few years ago. I dont' know what to do, I can order full priced summer clothes online I suppose. But dh's idea was to wait til we get down south and then buy clothes for them somewhere. :scared1: Seriously, that's a solution??????? Not for the super duper planner here, leave home with no clothes for them and expect to buy them some down south somewhere??

Any ideas on how to make sure I sleep the night before we leave? I am driving the first long leg of the trip and we are leaving around 3am, so any suggestions? I can never sleep the night before anything big.

I'm about to break a lot of rules in my book. They may seem petty to some but to any that have their "way" of doing things you will totally understand this. We have this tradition of no parks on the first day, hang at the resort after arrival and do dinner at Chef Mickey's then do whatever. Another thing is Magic Kingdom cannot be the first park we visit. I am afraid my kids will be bored with the others if they do MK first, kind of like saving the best for last, dessert after dinner and so on. Well . . . . I just found out that Toon Town's last operating day is Feb 11th which is our date of arrival, so guess what?????? I am trying everything to find a way to get my kids there to see it. They missed it last time due to bad timing, weather, planning and my inlaws, so I really would love for them to see it before it's gone. What do you all think, am I just nuts? I am sure most of the world will be feelign the same way that day.

The original plan was to leave our house early AM on thursday, drive til late evening arriving north of atlanta, stay for the night and then arrive at POR around 1 or 2 on Friday, dinner is at 5 at Chef MIckeys. So now how do I get us there 6 hour earlier? I have to do some serious thinking on this, but I am almost considering leaving Wednesday night and driving all night, then all day thursday, am I insane? Too insane? I just don't know.

I won't be a huge help with the driving issue, as we have to fly in! :lmao:

But - I am all for going to the MK first thing! Your kids will like all the parks no matter what ....... and what's wrong with a little dessert (= MK) before dinner (= rest of parks). You're on vacation - it is right to do things the other way around.

I don't know how long the drive from Atlanta will take, or if you could make it even a little further and leave really early the next day to get in earlier. Do you have hopper tickets, so you could go over to Epcot for EMH? Just a few ideas I am throwing around - on the other hand, I have no idea what it is like travelling with kids.

No park hoppers for us, costed WAY too much. The drive from south of Atlanta is still 6 hours or so. Dan (hubby) mentioned getting there Thursday night instead, but I don't know what to do, if we add a night at POR it will be a room only night and be quite pricey about 175.00 just for the night, or we could try to stay at a nondisney hotel for that night and get up early to come check in. If we stay at POR more than likely we will have leave that room and change for the remainder of our vacation.
