Tipping???

How much do you tip your wedding coordinator?? Musician??

I am having a DCL Vow Renewal on the 25th and I never thought about tipping the Captain, WC and Musician!

Not sure but let me know... I know everything can be stressful but hey it all seems worth it at the end.. Good Luck:goodvibes

Wow, i never would have thought to tip the captain!! For your WP i'd just get a gift card., Can you ask her if you need to tip the captain?

Theoretically you don't need to tip anyone who's a professional or owns their own business - the coordinator, the musicians, the photographer, etc.

But I think maybe standard cruise ship ettiquette would apply in this case - and isn't there a lot of tipping involved? It just seems weird to tip the captain - he's the captain! 20 bucks is chump change to him! :rotfl:

WOW, I hadn't thought about that!!! What all do we get for our $1500??? lol, couldn't the tip be included, lol. No, I was thinking of something for the WC, but really hadn't thought that far ahead. Did you check with Cheryl yet? She's the most recent that I'm aware of.

When we were planning our VR our land coordinator said that it was not necessary to tip the captain, coordinators or musicians, that it was all in the price, at that time it was$1,000. and a great bargain.

However, we did print stationary Thank You cards that we had our cruise coordinator put in each of our guests cabins.

At the end of the cruise we did have a monetary 'Thank you' for our cruise coordinators, Rodrigo on the ship and Cathy Ingram at Franc's. Unfortunately I do not remember how much.

If your event is perfect in every way then I would suggest, if its in your budget, to give them a monetary gift in a card.

I heard a rumor WCs aren't allowed to accept cash/gift cards... is that true? I'd hate to give her a little extra something to have disney take it away!

when i was a cm, we weren't allowed to take cash or gc's, so i gave my planner, her assistant and floral coordinator a little gift.

ok..the captain..i get..kinda weird..but the onboard WC, and Cathy..I think I will do something

it is just something I hadn't thought of and now need to get a card to put them in!

The policy was recently changed. Now everybody except Wedding Consultants (the ones you work with on the contract and locations before you get passed to a Wishes Wedding Event Planner) can accept tips. And if you accidentally tip someone who's not allowed to accept it, they will either politely decline or share it with everyone on the team.

Still, it seems classier to do a gift card or giftie of some sort.

This would make sense... could you imagine the "tips" some Wedding Consultants might receive when a bride "gets" her exact locations when they didn't used to be available?? I'm sure they're just trying to avoid a bribery situation.

so..where do I get a gift card to??
My people are on a ship for 3 - 6 months at a time..they aren't getting off the ship and going to eat..just a VISA??

That's a good idea! Or even a phone card so they can call their family from the ship (if this is possible). Or you could get a gift card for a company that has a website they can order from. I think most of the DCL CMs can get web access at certain times.

Or maybe bringing a gift would be easier - I'll bet the folks on the cruise boards have an idea of the kinds of things DCL CMs would love to have/can't get when they're stuck on the ship all the time. :thumbsup2

your making this harder!!!

your making this harder!!!

Well how 'bout this to make it easier: Tipping is always completely optional - it should never be expected.

And when it comes to weddings, the only people who are traditionally tipped are service people: delivery drivers, servers, coat room and powder room attendants, valets and other people you never even see at WDW and DCL weddings.

A simple thank you note would be tip enough! :thumbsup2

Check out the creative DISign board!!! They have lots of adorable thank you notes, i'm sure someone could DISign something weddingy for you!!

As for the onboard people, due to their limitied travel options, I really think cash would just be better. But the phone card is a great option!!
