Oh Goody! Chicago gas prices highest in country...again!

Yep, gotta love living in the Windy City and paying ridiculous taxes! I cringe every time I drive past a gas station and see the price of gas. And I am sick to my stomach every time I actually have to stop and fill the car up!

Chicago....what a great place to live!?! If they're not sticking it to us with the price of gas, then it's the outrageous taxes, or our scandelous politicians:lmao:
And now we have an Illinois senator in the White House....what were people thinking? If it's a politician from Illinois, you just don't vote for him/her. Hopefully we've all learned our lesson! :confused3

We're talking about $4.30/gallon around me.

Weeeell, I live way, way out in the suburbs and have cheaper sales and gas taxes than the city of Chicago...I saw gas today for $4.29 and $4.39 a gallon. You can add at least another .25 -- .35 per gallon for stations within the city limits.

It was all over our local news tonight that based on latest reports by some research firm, we have the most expensive gas in the nation. All I can say is UGH!

I love Chicago, but YIKES! :scared1: Our gas is $3.55 in the Phoenix Arizona area, and I've been complaining about that.

I have been getting gas at Costco or Sams Club....its about 10-15 cents cheaper than the gas stations. I paid $4.07 per gallon today. I'mabout 5 minutes from the Chicago border.

Finally someone else is paying more. Northern Cal I can still get it for around $4.10. The local news is predicting $7 by summers end.

$4.37 right down the road in my 'burb. I'm driving to STL in two weeks, and I'm going to wait until I hit Joliet before filling up! And, taking DBF's car, so it's PREMIUM gas and a bigger tank - I gotta get out of this area before I do ANYTHING. Yikes!

Don't plan any road trips north of the border - up here in Canada - we are paying $5.00 or more per gallon - it really hurts the pocketbook!:sad2::sad2:

Just wondered about that since regular is $4.39 a gallon here in SoCal.

We were just in La Jolla last week for vacation and DH told me what to expect for gas prices.....I didn't realize that Chicago was in that same range.

I had followed some of the recent tax threads for IL so I guess I shouldn't be surprised but I feel for everyone impacted.

It was $4.20 yesterday morning, $4.29 last night around 7pm and it's $4.39 now! It will cost me almost $150 to fill my van :scared1:

:rotfl2::thumbsup2

I'm paying about $4.30 & we're a long way from Chicago. The whole country is getting ripped.

Yeah I feel you pain! In NY we are pretty bad...let's put it this way. there are people less then a mile from me (not me, I rent, and this is the very wealthy area i am speaking of) PAYING SIX FIGURES IN PROPERTY TAX.:scared1: and gas is way over $4.15/gallon. But the average is close to $15,00-20,000/year in taxes.

They wonder why all the young people are leaving NY:confused3 I think it is so tough because the big cities like NYC, Chicago etc have a lot of jobs even in this economy, but the prices make it so tough to live there even if you have a job!

It isn't just Chicago that has high gas prices.

It's a couple cents away from being $4 a gallon here. It's all over the country, not isolated to Chicago.
