oh goodness....Jonas Brothers Concert....

The opening band is Honor Society. They are the first group to sign with JB's new label: Jonas Records. I have heard repeatedly, though, that they are REALLY, REALLY loud. I think I may have to have the ear plugs for that. The Wonder Girls (Wonder Woman..whatever) is a Korean group that apparently only sings two songs. Again, from what I hear, two is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more than enough. That might be a GREAT time to stretch your legs a bit. Can't WAIT for Jordin, though! (Yeah, yeah, I know...I'm pitiful. LOL!)

We went to the concert in Birmingham this past Sunday night and it was great. The Tshirts were 35 & 40 dollars. The glow sticks were 10.00 and the programs were 20.00. I was surprised that they were selling beer though.

Anyway, as we pulled up to the BJCC where the concert was we saw it, the Jonas Brothers tour bus that they let the fans sign. We park and found our way back to the bus for the girls to sign. We made pictures of them by the bus and it was just an extra little something that made the night even more special for the girls. Just as we went through the door to enter the civic center, there were signs saying that Jordan Sparks would not be there tonight, although her truck was out front. We were a little disappointed but that was fine. They were offering refunds to those who wanted them.

We found our seats and although they were in the upper section, they were on the very side of the stage, picture an oval and we would have been on one of the long sides in the middle. This was great because the way that the stage was set up, we had fantastic seats. I have to say, there were very few bad seats because of the design of the stage and the way that it would turn. Picture a big circle, that rotates, with a long horizontal line through it. The circle is the main stage with two long runways going in both directions. It was great because you know how bad these little girls want to see them.

Like the other poster said the first act was OK at best, but they tried. The second, Wonder Girls, were horrible and that's being nice. Finally at 8:03 the Jonas Brothers came out. They have an incredible stage show with smoke, lights and even water. At one point they sprayed that audience with some kind of soap/foam stuff. It was really cool to see. The girls LOVED it and I even really enjoyed it more than I thought that I would. They played a ton of hits and really rocked it out. I would pay to see then again.

I did notice, however, that the boys looked a little tired and I told my sister about it. The next day on the radio here in B'ham, Rick & Bubba were talking about it. Rick said the same thing about them looking tried, so I'm not crazy. However, as tired as they looked, they still put on a great show. For those of you that are heading out to see them, have a GREAT time!!

oh cool...where are you driving from? I just bought a parking pass...hopefully concessions are open during the show.

Also are video cameras allowed?

We worried about this too this past Sunday. While they will not let you in with a camcorder, you can take your camera in. Some people used their cell phones and such. I guess they don't look to close at if it will record video or not.

I'm pretty sure videography's not allowed; I had a camera when I took DD (we won AMAZING tickets from a local radio station) and never got any flack for that.

We never even bothered to attempt the merchandise tables; 20-deep with shrieky girls, even my DD at 13 couldn't stand it. DD never really was one for fan merchandise anyway (thank goodness!).

The concert itself was VERY good, I was quite impressed.

The women infront of us had enough for all of us. There were four women with a bunch of stair step kids and they had several drinks each. They were dancing and spilling the drinks on the kids, maybe that's why they bought so many. We were just wondering who was driving them home.

We are going Friday. I decided to rent a hotel within walking distance because I HATE driving in traffic and at night. So we are making a whole night of it. Might walk around and see if we can figure out where they are staying. Didn't win meet and greets from the fan club, but the girls will still have fun. I think we have decent seats, Section 102 Row H.

We went last year and I said once was enough until she gave me the puppy dog eyes and said "what's better than a Jonas Brother's concert ON my birthday?!"

How was Jordin Sparks? DD is looking most forward to her!

T Minus 6 hours until our Jonas Brothers concert in Columbus tonight and I have my Advil ready! Today is DD's birthday and she's really excited...

First thing you do is buy ear plugs! They worked GREAT!! I took them out at one point to talk to my daughter and couldn't wait to put them right back in!!!
T-shirts were 40.00 and they had crappy little light things for 10.00 (we went through 3 of them being returned before she got one that would work for more than 5 minutes!)
We went early and were glad- they had things to do outside the arena- the Jonas Brothers bus to sign- the recording studio bus to tour. You could take pictures with a green screen and go home and download and print it and it will be your kid with the Jonas Brothers.
Our show ended about 10:45-some really really loud group opened for them, then Jordan Sparks who was really good,...then some chinese girl group that was terrible then finally the Jonas Brothers.

The WonderGirls are Korean... I thought we were past thinking that all Asians are Chinese? And Chinese doesn't even sound like Korean. That's like getting Ukranian mixed up with Italian Plus I think they're pretty good. I've never seen them live, but I've seen videos of them performing live on Youtube and they're not terrible

Here is a pic of the three stages: they have the main stage in the center that rotates. The upper and lower stage:

The middle of the center stage rotates in one direction and the outer circle rotates in the opposite direction.

Note that the center can also go understage to load the piano, drums, and also a trampoline.

Other sections of the stage (see where the drummer is sitting above) also can move up or down to make the top stage either a circle or an octogan.

The upper stage was on hydraulics and lifted the boys and the violinist up in the air (probably 50 feet) for a song or two

It also rained on this stage but none of my pics could show it clearly.


And the lower stage had an arm (looked like a crane with a walkway on top) that Jo and Kevin got on and squirted the audience with a liquid substance. I have no idea what it was but I think someone here said it was foam? Imagine the middle of the lower stage being a pivot point for this arm and the arm rotated around the pivot point and lowered itself back into position

I have more photos if you want to see anything else. We had a great time but I would recommend ear plugs!!

I went last week. I had a fantastic time.

Of the opening acts Jordin Sparks was best.

I didn't think the The Wondergirls were THAT bad. But I'm not going to go buy one of their cds.

I absolutely loved the stage layout. Just about every seat had a good view. I took some pictures that look very close. I was in the mid 100s too.
