Our dates are the same and we are still figuring out a hotel (we are going to go with convience over cost <value vs MK deluxe>) but at least we have a date down now!

Well we just found out that my nephew (10) is going to be moving in with my MIL in a few months. The hard part of that is that they live next door! So how the heck can I leave the kid home? This has been on my mind and now hubby approached me about it today. Him and my son are the same age and I know my kids are going to come home bragging about the trip. So either we take him, or leave him home BORED with gram and gramp! So we are going to add him onto your stay. I am paying for our trip and hubby said he will pay for my nephew. We already needed 2 rooms anyway.

I told my husband he will have to get a signed letter to treat in case of emergency just in case. What else should we consider? The mom gave up rights to this kid and his dad is going back to being a truck driver (they live in Montana) which leaves my nephew with no one to care for him.. hence the move out here. Ahhhh 3 adults and 5 kids! What fun!

You are definitely going to have your hands full, but how absolutely wonderful you are in giving your nephew a trip to Disney!!!

Are you flying or driving? I know my parents needed a statement for their granddaughter to fly with them to Disney along with an identification card such as a passport.

First off, he is a lucky kid, because in the midst of everything, he has a grandmother, grandfather, aunt, and uncle who care about him - he will need every bit of this growing up. And that his aunt and uncle are willing to include him in this special time is the cherry on the ice cream sundae!

Normally when we have taken other kids with us (out of state, particularly), in addition to an authorization for medical treatment (emergency, or just relatively urgent - leave yourself the latitude here) and insurance information (and if he has any significant medical history, you would want that also), I usually write up a form that specifically outlines where we are going, how we are getting there and back, where we will be staying, and who all is going, as well as what we are going to do. Have the responsible people sign it (if the grandparents don't have guardianship, if may be a good idea to have dad sign it and have it witnessed in either case). This way you have the legal right to be transporting this child across state lines.

Just my thoughts, and I am not a lawyer, don't play one on TV, and didn't even stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. Have a great trip, and bless you guys for caring about this little fella.

Thanks I didnt even think about any trouble with the airline! I know adding another $500 or $600 onto our trip is really going to add it on but I just cant see doing that to the poor kid! He has never been to Disney either! Now the only trouble.. we arent telling our kids a THING until we get ready to board ME and then they figure it out! I have to be sooo sneaky now involving my BIL and IL's with this! Thankfully this particular BIL is pretty close to us and he knows he would take care of his son. This is going to be a crazy trip!

I did this in Dec. I do daycare and took a couple of my long time daycare kids with me to Disney World. I found a emergency form on line. It had all medical info on it also dental info. I also had them have it notorized. Took their medical insurance cards. Things worked great, had no problems.
