Oh Florida! An East Meets West Girl's TR: 8/9 p56 & 8/17 p57

Awesome morning so far! Happy Belated birthday, MEK. That crepe looks FANTASTIC!
I can't get my boys to sign up for a meal at CRT. It's way too pinky princess for them. Can't say I blame them; but I really would like to try a meal there sometime.

Love the picture of you and Cynthia being BAD.

Great update.

I LOVE the opening show at the MK (I'd love to be "that" family too). The last time we saw the Mayor he didn't look too well. I think Mark should become the next Mayor of Main Street.

Like you, I'm having a hard time getting Mark to agree to eat at CRT. But that view is awesome. I just wish the menu were more appealing so that I could convince Mark.

Love the pick of you and Cynthia after breakfast.

Aww that Muppets frame is too cute.

I love that!

Even if a bus was faster, as long as it wasn't a night and day difference I think I'd choose to walk as well. The scenery is there for a reason. :)

It was a lovely walk. OKW is such a pretty resort. I know its not for everyone, but it is chocked full of scenery.

That would always be my choice as well.

******************

And a good choice it turned out to be. :thumbsup2

Uh oh. So since I would absolutely love to eat in the castle some day, here ya go.

KSY.gif.jpeg

:rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:

Wow, that resort looks like its own little town doesn't it?

It is like its own town. I stayed there once with a car and once without. A car definitely makes it easier and parking is so convenient, but the bus worked out great, too!

Hmmm, I would make the case that the disappearance of the clock hands should mean that the park shall remain open until it returns.

Amen to that! I wish. How great would THAT be????:dancer:

New elections HAVE to be coming soon. I just want to be ready to run. Best job ever!!

I know, right? If there really were elections I would guess the competition might be pretty stiff.

Holy WOW, what a view from Breakfast!!!!!

That view was so amazing. We totally had the best seat in the restaurant. It was AWESOME! ::yes::

Awww, why Jasmine just might be "friends" with a former DISer.

Really? Do you know Jasmine?

Why do I feel like this could be the title of every chapter, lol.

Hah! Well, maybe not everyone....:rolleyes1

Now that I've been to OKW I can figure out where your pictures are taken. We are planning to go back there again for lunch at Olivia's during our upcoming trip. :goodvibes

Great plan! ::yes::

Isn't it great how you can appreciate pictures a lot more when you have have been to the place in the photographs.

That was very nice of Cynthia to treat you to breakfast at the Castle. I agree that this is best done on a girl's only trip. In fact, it is usually much more fun that way, too. I was able to sneak off with my sisters to see the Frozen Sing Along without any men tagging along on our last trip. They didn't want to go, anyway. ;)

It was really so nice of Cynthia. And, you're right - definitely more fun on a girl's trip! :thumbsup2

I can't imagine why the men wouldn't want to go to the Frozen sing along? :confused3

I love the opening show of MK sooo much, and your pictures were SOOO great! I can't wait to see it again in a few weeks, I honestly cannot remember if we watched it in September or December, but it just feels like it's been forever!

Is it really only a few weeks away? That is awesome! You must be SO excited! :cheer2:

I've wanted to eat breakfast in the castle for sooo long, but I'm so afraid of interacting with the Princesses! One of the reasons is one you mentioned, feeling like a big huge frump next to them, they're just so tiny and perfect and beautiful...then there's me. :faint:

I know what you mean Jen. I was totally not prepared for how tiny and perfect that are. I mean I get why - they interact with little kids so they should be really petite. I just was't prepared to feel huge and old next to them. :rotfl: Here's the thing - I think most normal sized people are going to feel big next to the princesses. Only the most petite person won't. In February I was more prepared for it so it did't bother me as much.

Aww, that Jasmine, I love her! As someone else mentioned, her "friend" is living in Tokyo now, and from what I can tell on Instagram and Twitter, she is loving it! She is friends with Esmeralda over there, can you believe they even have an Esmeralda meet and greet? :yay:

That Jasmine is so cute. So - she was friends with a DISer who is living in Tokyo now? Very cool. That must be so exciting.

Great update! Love all the pictures of the opening show - we haven't managed to catch that for a few years now (darn pre-opening ADRs! :rotfl:)

Thanks for the review of CRT breakfast. We've got that planned in May and it will be our first time eating in the castle. Dug thinks that dish looks delicious!

Mary Ellen - Happy Easter!

Great update! Terrific opening show pictures. Yes, where does Disney get all of those happy and cute people? Happy mayor & adorable Performers, you really captured the feeling in pictures.

Cynthia- love your matching colors to Sleeping Beauty!

Breakfast looked delicious. How fun and terrific view. We have not been there in many years when the boys were young. Think I need to pull those pictures out for an upcoming FB post for TBT!

I think you both look great in your princess pictures.

Rebecca

Cynthia - lovely pictures! The DisMeet ones always makes me smile. I love seeing Dis-sers having fun.

Much fun was had!

Great pictures Cynthia :) a nice day at Disney is something I'm longing for. I've been so spoiled the last couple years that five months in between vacation is just killing me!

Sometimes those TVs are just the worst. I've finally figured out the input and DVD buttons, they better not change things anytime soon!

OH that TV was horrid, I'm generally pretty good with things but there was something definitely wrong with the connection to the actual DVD player I think.
:badpc: I remember that, but I couldn't remember which night it was. :rotfl2: Yeah - I can't even work my TV and DVD player at home so there's no chance that I could work it somewhere else. Sad. If I ever live alone I will totally be screwed.

Well we attempted it more than one night lol

Perfectly place borders - right over my hips. Well done Cynthia!

you can thank Pat for that, she did all the borders as the PP share host!

Not sure what happened to the face of the clock that day. Maybe it was off for repairs?

It was weird, and sad, really bugged me!

OT here - but has anyone done the Steam Train Tour? I’m interested in doing it this summer, but can’t seem to garner any enthusiasm from Denny. Thoughts?

No but we've talked about it, almost did it on the NYE trip but it was a $$ issue and only some of the guys wanted to. I suspect one day we will though.

Got our picture taken with Cindy (can’t find my copy of that picture right now)

———Just Pretend-------

I do have it so can post it when I do my update

The room was pretty cool, although it was a little smaller than I imagined.

A lot smaller!

We were seated at a table for two with quite possibly the BEST VIEW EVER!

oh that VIEW! My goodness, it was amazing. Worth the price of admission right there. But actually the whole thing was worth it. The food was good, our server was absolutely fabulous, the view amazing and the princesses fun. As much fun was seeing all the little princesses interact with the big ones but...not having to stress about your own kids behavior at the same time.

By now I was feeling frumpy and old and just a little uncomfortable posing with the princesses, so I look like a dork in all my pictures. Seriously - I knew the princesses were super tiny, but I didn’t realize until I stood next to them how huge I was going to feel.

Ok first, you do not look huge and I think you are being ridiculous. For me I am far more interested in whether they get the character right or not. Some are fabulous and some...awkward or just too fake and wierd!

Cynthia - did you have the same thing? I forget!

I am pretty sure I did but will remember when I look at my pics lol

Yeah - We Bad!

And...I have eight thousand chins in that picture. LOL!

Cynthia, I love your dress!

Thanks!

I can't get my boys to sign up for a meal at CRT. It's way too pinky princess for them. Can't say I blame them; but I really would like to try a meal there sometime.

You know it's funny, I had never really mentioned it to them for that reason. Evan was SO mad at me for eating there without him....completely shocked me. I don't think the other two could care less and it may have been a transitory thing but he was rather jealous which was surprising.

I was totally not prepared for how tiny and perfect that are. I mean I get why - they interact with little kids so they should be really petite.

They are not perfect, you ALL need to get over that. I seem to remember Ariel being the one that really cracked me up, making some almost catty remarks about the other princesses...frankly she was refreshing! Maybe it was Jasmine, I don't recall but one of them was just a delight.

Cynthia- love your matching colors to Sleeping Beauty!

Not intentional at all but we definitely were coordinated!

That breakfast looks spectacular! We ate there 18 years ago and it was much different. I think we might need a do over!

Cynthia your dress is awesome! I love it and the color coordination is great. You both look just fine next to those princesses!

Those are some great shots of the opening show. Maybe we'll see it in December.

Sounds like a wonderful breakfast in the Castle. Mom and I loved our lunch there last October. Funny thing is, my DH was so jealous when we ate there. I'm sure the next time he and I go back we will be eating in the castle. He loves meeting the princesses.

I was back a few updates:

That is a great picture of all of you (After the Cronut). I love the Kermit photobomb (and then the Muppets border Cynthia posted later)

It has been forever since I have taken the World Showcase lagoon boats. I know we did it when Mark and I took my mom and dad to Disney (aka the trip when I almost became an orphan because they accused me of trying to kill them). I love the different perspectives in your pictures.

Spaceship Earth:

I have NEVER gotten a good dark part picture in LWTL- low light, moving boat. NOPE! Love yours, especially the desert.

The sunset pictures at OKW are gorgeous. I love the sign there. GREAT meal at Olivia's. The drink and the meals look fantastic.

Cynthia- ugh on the DVD player issues. Hate having appliances in the room that I can't figure out!!! :headache:

Breakfast with Cindy (and Cynthia!)

Pretty morning pictures of OKW.

Those are the best opening show pictures I have ever seen! :worship: The Mayor, the morning show dances, the family of the day. Too bad you don't know who they are so you could share your pictures. Not sure if mom is trying not to laugh or not to cry.

I love the pictures just as the streamers are released.

Wow! Meal at Cindy's looks amazing! The atmosphere, the view, the FOOD, the company and even the princesses. What a great way to celebrate a birthday.

::yes::

My second full day (and Cynthia’s first) was a special one. We were going to have breakfast in Cindy’s castle. When we planned this trip I really didn’t have many “must dos”, but the one thing I really did want to try was breakfast in the castle. I figured the best time to do it would be on a girl’s trip. There is no way Denny would have any interest in eating in the castle. I can’t say I blame him. He is, after all, a guy. He likes pretty women and all, but in his opinion certain things are “girls” only.
You know, I kind of felt the same way before ever eating there. But it really isn't all that "girly." You know... aside from the princesses everywhere.

Thanks Cynthia. As we know, DIS friends rock!
::yes::

Not sure what happened to the face of the clock that day. Maybe it was off for repairs?
Then how did they know when it was time to open???? :rolleyes1

Slight fascination with clocks this morning, huh?

The room was pretty cool, although it was a little smaller than I imagined.
::yes::

We were seated at a table for two with quite possibly the BEST VIEW EVER!
Awesome view!!! Now don't go back. You'll only be disappointed.

Seriously - she was hysterical. I have no idea what she whispered to me, but clearly I found it very funny!
The princesses do seem to be a little more fun there than other places.

Because it with my birthday (and because eating like this isn’t enough for breakfast), I was presented with the birthday cupcake.

YUM!
Birthday breakfast cupcake!!! :worship:

This was a wonderful meal with wonderful scenery and wonderful company. Thank you again Cynthia!

But before we leave the castle (this meal moved fairly quickly BTW), here are the rest of my interior pics.
Definitely a nice birthday treat.

And the meal has to move quickly. They've got to turn those tables. This place is probably the biggest money maker in Disney dining.

Yeah - We Bad!
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

However, we did not go on Figment, nor would we have needed a FP had we done so.

What?? No wait?? Shocking! You have to wait till I'm sitting down before you spring something like that.:rolleyes1

I adore Olivia's. It is one of my family's favorite spots and had really been looking forward to it.

Everyone keeps saying that. I need to try this place out.

I figured the best time to do it would be on a girl’s trip. There is no way Denny would have any interest in eating in the castle. I can’t say I blame him. He is, after all, a guy. He likes pretty women and all, but in his opinion certain things are “girls” only.

Gotta say, I think I agree with Denny here.

Not sure what happened to the face of the clock that day. Maybe it was off for repairs?

Who cares? There's no closing time!:woohoo::cool1:

nd, seriously, who wouldn’t be? I mean, he IS the mayor of the happiest place on EARTH!

I wouldn't mind trading jobs right about now.

Hmmmm - Mom is sort of biting her lower lip. Is she trying not to laugh?

They look so thrilled to be there!

Oh my goodness. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Great updates ladies!

We've never eaten at Olivia's, but I honestly can's say I have ever heard anything but positive reviews! I've never taken the Epcot boat ride either. I'm too impatient I think.

What a great breakfast for a girls' trip! We're Cindy's vets, but it never really gets old eating in the castle. We had that view on our first visit as well. Magical.

Great update MEK!

Thanks! :goodvibes

This should make for an interesting sun tan though!

No kidding. That just didn't strike me as park appropriate attire. :rotfl:

It's DISboard member & CM Alicia as Jasmine!! She is now in Tokyo Disney for the next year. My favorite CM (for obvious reasons!)

I don't know Alicia. Well, apparently I met her, but I had no idea she was a DISer. How cool to be in Tokyo. That's exciting! :thumbsup2

I've never thought about going to the Castle breakfast for the same reasons as Denny but the food and the view might change my mind.

They did have a lot of nice choices on that breakfast menu. It was yummy. A bit rich, but very yummy! ::yes::

Absolutely gorgeous, beautiful morning pictures of OKW, Mary Ellen! The actual Key West was always my family's favorite vacation destination once my sisters and I were older (of course, mine is, was, and always will be Disney, no surprise there! :lovestruc). Disney, like everything they do, really hit the mark with this resort.

I have heard the real Key West is amazing. We will be stopping there on a cruise next December. I wish our port stop was longer, but I was certainly be soaking it all in while in port.

I also love the resort. I agree - they do hit the mark. The resort is vibrant and low key all at the same time. It's perfect. :thumbsup2

Ahhh, the Mayor of Disney. If ever there was a dream job, this is it. And he does it to perfection.

He's pretty darn awesome! ::yes::

Wow, that view. Holy cow that view. You're right about tiring of it: nope!

That view was outstanding. I really never expected it to be that wonderful.

Puleeeeze! I would never, ever put you into any of those categories, Mary Ellen! Never could an "old and frumpy" person run what you ran!!! Plus you're the farthest from either term anyway so stop that! ::yes:: :goodvibes

 Thanks! I guess it's all relative. I don't generally feel like that, but I was surprised at how awkward I felt next to those princesses.

Yum, your breakfast looks amazing!!! And who doesn't like to cap off their breakfast with a dessert!? :thumbsup2

Hey - wan't another 300 calories when you've already consumed 1500? :rotfl:

Fish tacos are one of my go to items on a menu, too. The first place I ever had them was in Hawaii and I think those tacos remain my favorites.

I am definitely trying the fish tacos the next time I do there...or the crab cake. Decisions. Decisions.

Thanks for posting the picture of the shrimp and grits. They look just like the ones I had, nice and cheesy. ;)

Shows how good my memory is. I would have sworn they weren't cheesy. Who knew? :rolleyes1

Breakfast looks like so much fun! Maybe now that we are having a little girl I can finally get to experience breakfast in the Castle. :cloud9:

OMG - that's right! That is totally something to look forward to. You will totally be able to get your "princess" on. Of course, I'm not so sure how thrilled Paxton will be, but he'll adjust!

Awww, Jasmine looks awful familiar! Her friend has appeared in many a TR I have read. ;)

It appears that she is a DISer who is now in Tokyo. Both Bill and Jen knew they. Clearly I was never subbed to her TR.

The view out of the window is stunning. Not a bad way to start off the morning!!

The view was A-MAZING!!!!!!!:worship: It really did exceed my expectations.

I am interrupting my replies to say - I have NOOOOOOOO IDEA how I managed to get everything out of order. I apologize for the confusion.

Would you stop that Mary Ellen, you look fabulous!

 Thanks Pam! I just remembering feeling really big and awkward next to those tiny little princesses. It was an odd feeling. I hope I'm over it now!

I'm sure you will believe this but I have never seen the opening show at MK. And I don't think it will ever happen. Thanks for the pictures.

Hey - nothing wrong with that. I know you are not an early riser. I am and I STILL have trouble getting there for park opening. I'm glad we made it. It will probably be another 5 years until I see it again. :rotfl2:

Breakfast looks mighty scrumptious. I've only been there for dinner. The room is much smaller than I expected, but really fun to be eating in the castle. How sweet of Cynthia to treat you for your birthday :) Gorgeous view from your table!

It was so nice of Cynthia to treat me, especially since it was my idea to go. I agree - that room was small, but the view totally made up for it. It was amazing! :goodvibes

Cynthia, I love your dress!

Me too!

Great update and congrats on finally getting to Cinderella's restaurant. I was going to agree that it was a nice "girls only" location until you threw the picture of crepes with crab on them...now I want to go myself!

:rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2: Sorry .... Well, you could always go. If you do you better do it before Braxton has absolutely no interest in princesses. I am sure my boy went through a stage whether they would rather stick hot pokers in their eyes than be around a princess. That has probably changed by now.

That family of the day does not look very excited. If that was my family we'd all be :yay::jumping1::dancer: And we live here! lol

I know, right? That woman looks downright sad in that last picture. Maybe she was so happy she was biting her lip so she didn't cry. Nah......:rotfl2: Well at least since you live there you have multiple opportunities to get chosen. ::yes::

What a wonderful birthday breakfast! Great pictures! You ladies are just as lovely as those princesses!

It was a great breakfast - just perfect for a girl's trip. I was so happy we got to go there. Great fun!

Seeing the family of the day reminds me that I should really buy Anika one of those graduation hats! :scratchin

You TOTALLY should! How great would that be? :thumbsup2

Breakfast in Cinderella's castle! That's one of the few places I haven't eaten in Magic Kingdom as it's hard to pull me away from Crystal Palace's breakfast. Your crepes do look delicious, however, and the ambiance always looks so nice. And my, what a view! :thumbsup2

The crepe was wonderful and the view was certainly the best I have ever had at a Disney restaurant. It would be hard to top that. But I hear ya on Crystal Palace. That IS probably my all time favorite breakfast buffet.

Playing catch up! I'm so behind due to the lack of notifications, computer issues, and my house drama but I'm caught up! You ladies looked like you had a blast! Love the PHM costumes.

Jill in CO

Awesome morning so far! Happy Belated birthday, MEK. That crepe looks FANTASTIC!

Thanks! That was such a lovely birthday treat and the crepe was delish!

I can't get my boys to sign up for a meal at CRT. It's way too pinky princess for them. Can't say I blame them; but I really would like to try a meal there sometime.

My boys wouldn't go anywhere near there either. They would probably turn and run the other way. :rotfl2: I definitely recommend it for a girl's trip!

Love the picture of you and Cynthia being BAD.

Bad Girls - Yup - that's us (thanks to an overzealous PP photographer). ::yes::

Great update.

Thanks!

I LOVE the opening show at the MK (I'd love to be "that" family too). The last time we saw the Mayor he didn't look too well. I think Mark should become the next Mayor of Main Street.

Oh No - I hope the Mayor isn't sick. Not that I wouldn't want Mark to take his place. It would be the perfect job for him!

I totally want to be "that" family. I'm sure there's a certain demographic they are looking for.

Like you, I'm having a hard time getting Mark to agree to eat at CRT. But that view is awesome. I just wish the menu were more appealing so that I could convince Mark.

It's worth it for the view. You could have that same nice little table for two that we had. It was perfect. ::yes::

Love the pick of you and Cynthia after breakfast.

Thanks - the "bad girl" pose. We managed to pull that off. :rotfl2:

Great update! Love all the pictures of the opening show - we haven't managed to catch that for a few years now (darn pre-opening ADRs! :rotfl:)

Well, there is nothing wrong giving up the opening show for a pre opening ADR. They are always the best. There is something so magical about entering any park before it opens.

Thanks for the review of CRT breakfast. We've got that planned in May and it will be our first time eating in the castle. Dug thinks that dish looks delicious!

I hope you love your experience there and tell Doug that the crepe is awesome! :thumbsup2

Mary Ellen - Happy Easter!

Thanks Rebecca. Same to you. I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Great update! Terrific opening show pictures. Yes, where does Disney get all of those happy and cute people? Happy mayor & adorable Performers, you really captured the feeling in pictures.

Thanks. I am so glad you like the pictures. Seeing the opening show is always so much fun. And those performers are SO adorable. I think that would be a wonderful dream job.

Cynthia- love your matching colors to Sleeping Beauty!

I do too. That dress is just so perfect.

Breakfast looked delicious. How fun and terrific view. We have not been there in many years when the boys were young. Think I need to pull those pictures out for an upcoming FB post for TBT!

Oh - you totally should. I bet those pictures are adorable. I really enjoyed breakfast there. It was a lot of fun and that view was second to none!

I think you both look great in your princess pictures.

Rebecca

Awwww - you're sweet. Thanks.

Much fun was had!

::yes::

OH that TV was horrid, I'm generally pretty good with things but there was something definitely wrong with the connection to the actual DVD player I think.

Well we attempted it more than one night lol

I guess we thought a little pixie dust was going to sprinkle right down from the ceiling and fix it for us. :rotfl:

you can thank Pat for that, she did all the borders as the PP share host!

Well, she did a darn good job!

It was weird, and sad, really bugged me!

It was totally odd and it just seemed so wrong to have the whole entire face of the clock missing.

No but we've talked about it, almost did it on the NYE trip but it was a $$ issue and only some of the guys wanted to. I suspect one day we will though.

I would like to do it with Denny. I'm sort of itching to try something new. I've already done KTTK, but have actually considering doing it again. I just wish I could think of someone to get Denny interested in the tour. I might even go alone.

I do have it so can post it when I do my update

I should take a picture of the picture. that was my favorite one.

A lot smaller!

I guess its deceiving because the castle looks so big, yet that room is small.

oh that VIEW!

It was wonderful. Thank you again! It was really special. It is lovely watching kids with the princesses. Such precious interaction.

Ok first, you do not look huge and I think you are being ridiculous. For me I am far more interested in whether they get the character right or not. Some are fabulous and some...awkward or just too fake and wierd!

I thought they all did a good job. But I know what you mean - up close they do look rather fake.

I am pretty sure I did but will remember when I look at my pics lol

I know we have this habit of often ordering the same things, so its definitely quite possible. :scratchin

And...I have eight thousand chins in that picture. LOL!

What????? :faint: You're crazy girl!

You know it's funny, I had never really mentioned it to them for that reason. Evan was SO mad at me for eating there without him....completely shocked me. I don't think the other two could care less and it may have been a transitory thing but he was rather jealous which was surprising.

Wow - that surprises me too. It's funny how kids go through different phases where they come up with something so far out of left field that you say, "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAA??????":lmao:

They are not perfect, you ALL need to get over that. I seem to remember Ariel being the one that really cracked me up, making some almost catty remarks about the other princesses...frankly she was refreshing! Maybe it was Jasmine, I don't recall but one of them was just a delight.

I remember liking one more than all the others. I can't remember who it was but she was freaking hysterical. Very funny!
