My laptop totally shut down today, so it had to be crashed. I lost everything, including my Itunes.
Is there someway I can authorize my Itunes before I plug my iPod in so I don't lose my songs?
They'e not backed up, at least most of them aren't.

im pretty sure the songs on your iPod go right back on your playlist when you sync your iPod
i got a new one yesterday and thats what i did with my old iPod on my laptop (did not have itunes)

Plug your ipod into your computer then go to my computer and selet your ipod, open up all the different folders until you find the one with music then drag and drop them into itunes.

I don't know the name of the folder off hand but if you need help you can PM me.

download the itunes on your comp.
sync your ipod
the songs should go on there when it gives you the option to transfer them
after you've done that, try to play a song, and it should ask your email and password used for itunes (only if you're on a different computer i believe)

Oh, crap.

Okay, just if I need to get specific.

Same computer - had to be crashed due to issues. EVERYTHING is gone. I have to redownload Itunes. The remaining songs are on my IPod but I don't have them backed up.

Yeah basically just go with what I told you in my last post, lol.
You can still transfer them to your iTunes, as long as the songs are still on the iPod. I'm not sure if you'll need to authorize the computer though.

I never ever have my ipod set to sync.
Never.

When my computer crashed in December, I literally opened the files on the ipod and copy and pasted them.
Apple gives things realy weird file names. On Itunes the names are what the songs are, but if they don't have artist and album, they show up as stuff like GHXL instead of the song name.

Fudge.
I clicked "transfer all purchases" and synced in but it's not in my library! It's on my iPod but not in Itunes!

Okay, nvm.
Anything purchased is in the library.

What about my free dowloads? When I go to my computer, it only has "calendar" "notes" "photos" and "contacts".

1. Plug in your iPod.
2. Go to My Computer and find the iPod.
3. Open the iPod.
4. Go to Tools > Folder Options > View (the tab) > scroll to Show Hidden Files and Folders and click it.
5. Click OK
6. Go back to your iPod folder/drive, there you will find a new folder called iPod Control
7. Open it.
8. The Music folder in it will have a bunch of folders named F00, F01 and so on. THEY HAVE YOUR MP3s. Look through the folders to find your stuff.

Copy, save the files in 'My Music' (get rid of the F00 files, put them all in one folder). They're saved to your pc now.
And then copy and paste into itunes.

Crap.
What the heck!?!? Now it's not even coming up on My Computer.

Okay when you go there you should see it as a device plugged in by the USB.

Click on it. It might show nothing. Somewhere there's a thing called 'view' press that and switch the option to 'show all hidden files and folders'

UGH!
I can open it up but after a few seconds it shuts down. My Computer I mean.

*has an idea*

Go to:

-start.
-music.
-Click the 'itunes' folder thing.
-And then! Click the 'itunes music' folder thing.

That should have all your music in it.

I'm not sure if it's the same on your comp as it is on mine, but it's worth a shot, right?
