OH Canada!

I can pretty well call that as a fore gone conclusion that the poll will read with a majority wanting it changed and updated I think anyhow. I just prefer our film as is why update it so it will look like we are any other modern country in teh world no point IMHO.

Hi, just over here having a look from the UK board. If you guys feel embarrassed how do you think us Brits feel after visiting the UK! :flower:

As I was reading this thread, I was thinking the same thing...namely, is it really fair to be critical of the film in the Canadian pavillion on the basis of OUR impressions of the presentations of other countries in the other pavillions?...How do we know that, from a local person's perspective, the portrayals of the other countries in the other pavillions are ones that make their locals proud?

I know that's not really the point, since nobody wants to see something about their own country that does not make them proud. I am just wondering if we aren't being a bit harsh in our comparisons.

Our family loves the UK pavilion at Epcot especially the Rose & Crown for a nice Black & Tan. Ok well I love the Rose & Crown for the Black & Tan lol. My family loves the food there. I feel that World showcase is more to show what life was in the country not what life is now because almost every country in teh world is similar well for most European countries compared to Canada and the US. You could interchange most people from one country to the other and other than the accent of the person you would never know ther werent from there if you saw them walking down the street. That is why our film is so great it does show our cultural difference even though it is old.

We saw the film 2 weeks ago for the first time since I was a child and I was so disappointed that it was the same. I couldn't believe Disney hadn't bothered to update it, made me kind of sad. I hope they update it soon, a great country like Canada deserves an up to date film!

Sorry for butting in over here but I just wanted to give you an outsiders perspective.

BTW I also wanted to give you a big THANK YOU for the help your country has givin us after the Hurricane, you're a wonderful neighbor! :flower:

I recently did a bit of research on Expo 67 and came up with this amazing thing: The movie shown in the Bell pavillion at Expo 67, which was a 360 circlevision theater was produced by... Disney, so I guess Disney saved money on the canadian pavillion by taking the same movie they had produced for Expo 67 and putting it at the pavillion.

I'm a Canada pavillon alum and I don't believe that is the case. Perhaps Disney was inspired by the '67 film. But I have never heard this rumour before.

Interesting rumour and it would make more sence than the worlds fair one for sure.

The film wasn't shown at Expo 67, at least not in its entirety. My brother's hockey team (Canterbury Crusaders!) was featured in the film, where the kids are playing hockey. That part was filmed in either late 1981 or early 1982. Still a long time ago, though - those kids are all in their late 30's now!
