Oh brother! Christian hurt himself bad

Well, DH rallied a little and was able to come back to the hospital with my older kids, DD17 and DS24. Of course, they are quite worried and upset about all this, too. They were so sweet to Christian, giving him some kisses and gentle snuggles. He started waking up finally around 7pm and ate some jello and drank some apple juice. The PT got him up for a little bit--he was totally exhausted after that. DH insisted that I go home for the night. He's not feeling great himself, but I do feel better just knowing one of us is there with him. I don't expect strangers to understand Christian's ways and "language." And Scottish Rite is PACKED with sick babies tonight.

We'll meet with the hospital social worker tomorrow. Hopefully, they can intervene with the state of Georgia to get us some nursing services for the next several weeks while he's recovering. I came home aound 10pm and moved everything out of the dining room into the living room in preparation for putting his hospital bed in there. So I"m going to get a bath and go to bed now.

Thank you for all your prayers and good wishes. I really appreciate you all. :lovestruc They say you can't pick your family but you can pick your friends. I consider all of you friends indeed.

I'm a little late to this threat, but wanted to say I am so sorry to hear this news. You sure have a lot on your platter---bless your heart for all you have to deal with. I hope your son is feeling better and his recovery goes smoothly for him. As for the SIL (I think that's who you were talking about) that was upset that your DH wasn't going to "ditch you" to go do Christmas stuff, and showed no concern for your son..... that is truly pathetic. How very inconsiderate of her :sad2:. Hope your family has a great holiday, considering.

I am so sorry to hear this. Hugs and prayers go out to you.:grouphug:

I'm sorry to hear this, Minky. Prayers to Christian for a quick recovery and hugs to your whole family at this difficult time.

Minky, sending Christian lots of well wishes for a speedy recovery. Your whole family will be in my thoughts and prayers! I pray for strength, and healing for you for all you take on each and every day. You are an amazing woman, wife and mom.:hug:

Sending prayers and wishes for a speedy, smooth recovery!

Lumps of coal for SIL....really what was she thinking!

Sending prayers for Christian's healing and for you to get some respite.

Sorry about your boy. I hope he recovers quickly (which at 15, they usually do). I hope the CPS person can actually help you with a group home placement for him.

 and prayers and pixie dust :wizard:

I hope Christian's recovery is quick and as painless as possible for all of you. :grouphug:

Minky, just came across your thread now, but wanted to throw in my best wishes and prayers for Christian's speedy recovery and for your health and well-being. I know from other threads how much you do for Christian and how much weight you carry on your shoulders. I don't know why some people seem to have more to handle than others, but I just wanted to let you know that I think you do a wonderful job. Hopefully you will be able to getting nursing assistance at home and they will be able to find a nice, safe placement for Christian soon. You're such a good, caring, loving mom. Sending prayers and pixie dust your way!

Minky - you're constantly in my thoughts. You have strength that I don't think I'll ever know.

Hugs and prayers to you all Minky!
I hope Christian has a fast recovery!

Thanks for checking on us. I brought Christian home last night. Fortunately, our nurse Samuel was able to carry him from the driveway, up two flights of stairs and into the house. Now that we're in here, we're not going back out.

Truthfully? I am exhausted. DH has been ill with vertigo for 3 days. In fact, I sent him to the ER yesterday when he started vomiting blood. They couldn't find anything else, so they're saying its just vertigo. The gastric bleeding is probably due to multiple episodes of vomiting AND all the meds he's taking(prednisone, methotrexate, NSAIDS, etc.) Well, he can't stop the meds, so he's tanked up on Antivert and trying to manage.

I set up my sleeping bag next to Christian last night. I was really worried that he might try to get up by himself--he has so far tried to get out of bed 5 times.:scared1: We have to literally be within 3-4 feet of him at all times--he's a tricksy one. This morning he had wet the entire bed from shoulders to knees. Ugh. DH was able to help me change that and get Christian cleaned up.

I'm off work this week, but I go back Mon-Wed next week. DH can NOT handle Christian on his own and DD17 is not going to be able to help much. She has been very willing to watch him so I can go to the bathroom, but she isn't big enough to change his diaper or dress him. Christian is significantly bigger than her. Some friends have brought over some extra hospital bed sheets for us and my sister in WA sent us a little cedar tree with lights. We put it in the sickroom so Christian can enjoy it. THank goodness we're finished with our Christmas shopping.

At this point, I have put out calls to everyone I think might be able to help us. I'm hoping they will respond quickly. There is no way we can do this on our own.
