Oh brother! Christian hurt himself bad

Praying for your Minky, and of course for Christian and your entire family.

I hope they come through after your email. I can not begin to imagine the difficulty in this.

I send you tons of hugs and prayers.:grouphug::flower3:

Sending lots of  and prayers.

I hope CPS will show you some compassion and get you the care for Christian you so desperately need.

Wishing you all the best .

Hang in there Minky!!

Ahh I wish I could come and stay with him so you could rest. Maybe someone would feel comfortable coming and staying in the room if you laid down in that room and slept? you would be there if there was a problem but they could entertain and keep him in bed so you could shower and then rest.

Will he be allowed up to a chair soon? that could help and you could probably contain him in a chair easier.

If it rains it pours doesn't it. Hope your DH feels better soon. Good Luck. and just keep remembering that first kiss he gave you not so long ago.

:goodvibes That's so sweet. DH did manage to get Christian up in the wheelchair today and wheeled him out onto the front porch. it's pretty windy and chilly, but Christian seemed to really enjoy his "outing." For now, we can't get him off the porch due to stairs. His teacher is going to bring us a portable ramp next week. Perhaps we can bundle him up and go look at the Christmas lights.

DH was able to watch Christian for an hour so DD & I ran and got some take-out food. Thank goodness we have had some leftovers this week so I haven't had to go to the grocery store.I'm feeling less frantic this morning. I have had a few panic attacks this week, almost always at bedtime. I dont' really want to take anything for it because it would probably knock me out and i wouldn't be able to hear Christian. He was up at 12:20a.m. and again at 5:40a.m It's a little like having a newborn baby, one who can climb out of the crib on Day 1.:upsidedow

Getting out in the fresh air and sunshine might make him sleep a bit better tonight! Glad you made it thru the night with out incident yeah for small miracles.

A little glass of Christmas cheer may help at night without being as sleep inducing as a med.

Hope you all have a good weekend, I have been thinking about you, take care.

If you posted elsewhere forgive me I missed it.
How is Christian doing?
How are you holding up? Did you get any further response from the social workers regarding additional help?
You have all been on my mind and I just thought I would ask.

Thanks for asking. With the rush of Christmas, i haven't updated.

We are doing better. We're in a kind of routine now. We have a new CNA coming for a few hours in the mornings and our regular CNA, Samuel, who comes in teh evenings. Someone brought us a ramp, so we've been able to get him out of the house twice to go out to eat or go to the mall to push him around in the wheelchair. After being in bed for almost 3 weeks, he doesn't have much stamina. He's still trying to get out of bed pretty regularly so someone has to stay close by all the time. Christian is still trying to get out of bed regularly so one of us has to be close by.Samuel has been able to get him into the shower(which is upstairs) twice now.

DH is feeling much better, only having a little vertigo now. He has been sleeping on the blow-up bed next to Christian for the last 2 weeks. When i try to sleep down there, I wake up almost constantly, up to 18 times per night. DH handles it much better, so I am sleeping upstairs now.

It's been a little challenging through the holidays. One of our CNAs went to Arkansas for the Christmas weekend and the other had the days off. The one CNA came back on Monday, then got an emergency call from her mother--her father is gravely ill, so she's gone back to Arkansas. Samuel has been sick and is fighting a virus, so he has been out a few days. DD17 has been great about spelling us off.

So, we're hanging in there. Three weeks to go before he sees the surgeon again. Can't walk until then. We have bought two baby gates to put at the head and the foot of the stairs, so he will no longer have free access. We cannot take a chance on this happening again.:scared1:

Minky, you are my hero! You are amazing to be able to do everything you do for Christian. I used to coach Special Olympics and I was exhausted after a weekend with our athletes at the state games (honestly though, it was one of the best weekends of my life!).

Sounds like you've found a comfort zone, that will help keep your stress levels manageable, its so important for a primary caregiver. I hope Christian is healing well , your husband stays well, and that you can get whatever assistance is best for you all. You guys are in my prayers:flower3: Wishing you a good day today

Poor thing. I'm sorry to hear about this. I'll be thinking of you .

As for family, well they don't have to be such jerks but they are sometimes...

So sorry to hear about all this!

and to dh's sister - :sad2: some people are so self-centered!

you're such a wonderful mom

I´m so sorry. Hope Christian gets well soon!

I just saw this thread this morning. I am so sorry about what you've been going through this month.

As someone who has spent the last year and a half caring for sick family members, I can feel your pain... only I had a lot of help. It sounds like you only have yourselves to really rely upon... with the exception of a few hours per day.

Please know that Christian and your entire family is in my prayers. If we lived closer, I have all this experience with caring for those who need it, I would have been happy to help you.

Thanks for the update. Glad things are going as well as they are. Hopefully your CNA's will all get healthy soon because it is so much less stressful when the same people can come everyday. I'm sure the ramp is a big help for everyones mental health being able to get out a bit works wonders.

I have thought about you and hoping things were going OK and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Here's t a better New Year and a calm 3 weeks with good news at the end of them.

Haha, I know, right? Those kids will wear you out! Special Olympics is near and dear to our hearts. Christian has done the SO swimming for years, but I decided back in October to sign him up for track & field this spring. I guess that was a good move because Christian is going to need a lot of practice to regain his walking abilities(and stamina!) We'll consider it Special Olympics PT.

Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. Believe me, we feel it. We couldn't have gotten this far without the abundant prayers of a whole lotta people. :goodvibes And thank goodness that Christian is such a pleasant, sweet boy. No negative behaviors, he whistles and sings all day long, just happy to be with his family. Somehow he finds things to entertain himself. Doncha wish we could all be like that? :wizard:

Minky I'm so glad to hear that things are looking up. Can't wait to hear how Christian does in the SO this spring.

They're like energize bunnies, I swear! But they are always happy just to be alive and doing something they love. It's pretty awesome! I coached speed skating. I'm hoping my health looks up here so that I'll have the energy to go back and start coaching again. I really miss it. I miss getting high 5's every 3 seconds! :lmao: Although I honestly don't miss listening to "I've been workin' on the wailwoad. I've been workin' on the wailwoad." Over and over and over again for 3-4 hours. :faint:
