Oh boy!!!

Well - if you can remember as far back as the weekend, I was all excited because we'd had a quote from Virgin to stay on-site for not much more than our current booking at Wyndham Palace.

If I can explain - I'd asked Virgin for a quote as recently on the US boards there have been some, to be truthful, quite awful reports on the Wyndham (paint and wallpaper peeling, mouldy and musty smells, dirty pool . . . do I need to go on).

So, hang on a minute, we're paying full whack here for a "5 star luxury" dive???!!

I don't think so.

So, much deliberating, we finally decided - based on Virgin's quote - to go for the Dolphi. Phoned Virgin last night to confirm . . . . sorry, wrong prices given, let's add on another £2K.

Anyway, slept on it after a few glasses of wine and decided this morning - well, It's a Flagship Virgin hotel, surely we'd get a good room?? Then I read another trip report from someone staying there as we speak. More horror.

We've been recommended the Sheraton Safari at Lake Buena Vista - we do like that area.

Please - has anyone stayed there - any views.

Yes we stayed there this Christmas and thought that it was a lovely hotel. It isn't five star luxury, in fact I think that it is three stars, but it is in a good location, and the pool is lovely with a pretty good slide. The rooms are fine, and try to ask for a pool view which means that you have a good view from your balcony. You pay extra to use the in room safe, and you do not have a fridge or microwave which is standard in some hotels now, but I really liked it there. Hope this helps. Carolyn

So sorry to hear that Virgin mucked up with the price, it happened to us once with the Dolphin, they gave us a quote to upgrade from DXL to Dolphin, we rang back to book it, and they said we had been quoted wrong, and wouldn't honour it Fortunately we could still afford to upgrade, but we felt so annoyed about it.

Sorry I can't help you out with the other hotel, I hope you get some good reviews for it

I've noticed that a LOT with Virgin, they never seem to stick to their quotes. When we booked our wedding with them a few years ago the quotes seemed to go up and up in price and no one could stick to a price. It's very annoying.

I'm sorry to hear after all your deliberating to upgrade they tell you you've benn misquoted.

I work in FE at TC and one big tip that travel agents ALWAYS do which would be as useful for us public too is.....ALWAYS take the name of the person you're speaking to(and a note of the date and even time).Because when you ring the company back they will say ,no one hear will have given you that quote.When you say 'well Reference Lisa did on March 03rd.They know it is one of their colleagues (sp!) and if they were in the day you were given a quote. It may not help but if only occasionly it does theres nothing to lose.

I didn't take my own advice recently and called to get a quote for a family annual insurance policy from a TA club.When I called back to book it, the quote was much,much higher.Who did you speak to originally 'Sorry I didn't take her name'.The girl all but accused me of lying I was SO angry.No one here would have given you that quote If only I'd had the hapless girls name I could have avoided that incident of being made so angry by an ignorant person over the telephone
