OH BOY!!*My 1st PTR for our 1st ever WDW trip JUNE 2011* 6/14: Started my TR.

DH doesn't like the idea of doing a park on arrival day. He would rather us just relax and swim and chill at the hotel that night. I guess I won't make a final decision on it and don't have to until we get there but I would like to see what you girls think! popcorn::

Your DH sounds like my DH...wait til you start reading my TR. It will make even more sense then ;)

I think your new plans sound good. Maybe since you both disagree on how to spend the first day you should leave it up to your kids to decide? And it is easy to add a park day while you're there at one of the parks. You can even do it at your hotel.

I like your new plan. We always try to do a park on arrival day. I try to do a park that I know we can do and it not be too bad. For example, last year we did AK on arrival day and it was the only day we went to that park. I like your idea of going to MK on departure day. That is such a nice park to say goodbye to. Are you doing Fantasmic? If so I would make sure I am at that park on that day.

Oh dang! I just checked and Fantasmic won't show on our arrival night. :sad2: I do want to try to see it too. Hmmm... Well, not sure what we will do then. Might just leave the plans like they are for now and then we will see what the kids want to do when we get there on arrival day. Changing anything else around would be too hard with our ADR's, I really don't want to change any of those this close to the trip. It would be nice to get some park time in that day though... ;)

Our first trip, we drove all day (about 10 hours)... checked into the resort and grabbed dinner at the food court. I know we didn't go swimming, but we did walk around the resort.

Last year's trip, we decided to break up the drive to two days. Drove most of the way on Saturday... I think we made it to ASMovies by 10:30 or so the next morning (we had gone ahead and added the extra park day to our tickets when we booked the trip) We were able to get over to Epcot around lunch time... ate at Sunshine Seasons and spent the rest of the day in the park. I was glad we did this, since we didn't have Park Hoppers this time and could only spend one day at each park. I had planned on 2 days at MK, and just one day at each of the other parks... but by going to Epcot on Sunday we were able to spend 2 days there!

Good luck with deciding what to do - my vote would be to play it by ear and see how you feel when you arrive at the resort.

Initially we said we were going to check in to the hotel and relax and swim. I am pretty sure we're changing that now... lol. I think we might go to MK on arrival day. If all goes well we should be at Pop by noon so there is plenty of time to hit a park.

We've agreed to play it by ear, but in my mind we'll probably be going to a park.

I think you should play it by ear too.. ;)

If time allows, I think it is a great idea  to stay over in a hotel and then do minimal driving on arrival day. I think you will be much more rested and able to enjoy your 1st day in Disney much more! :woohoo:

Thank you everyone for the input! :thumbsup2 I think we will just "play it by ear" and see what we feel like doing on arrival day. It'll be the one day that I won't really plan, and we will just wing it! Can't believe that 15 days from right now we will be on the road!!!!

Yesterday was my son's 4th birthday and his party at Chuck E Cheese

Those cupcakes were great!!!

Play it by ear, but if you're arriving early in the day, I'd say go to a park if you feel up to it. You'll be rested enough and it might be nice to do some walking after all that sitting and driving. For the minimal price of adding on a day, it's totally worth it. We fly, but are up before 5am, if we sleep at all the night before, to get to the airport for an early flight. We arrive at the resort by 11am and usually head over to MK right away for a bit. I gotta walk down Main Street first thing. :goodvibes

Did you buy your tickets direct from Disney through a package, because if you got them somewhere else on a discount, be sure to use the tickets first before you upgrade/add a day. So you don't get charged the difference. I could be wrong, this could only apply to upgrading the tickets to different ticket types, but I see everyone say use the tickets before you do anything to them to lock in the discount you got.

Cute suitcase!! :thumbsup2

Scavenger hunt looks like it will be really fun!

Looks like a exciting party for your sons!

I still have a few more outfits to get together for the kids, I had to go buy DS a few new things last night. Next, I'll start working on my own packing!!
Since I am now at the 2 week mark, I need to confirm all of our reservations...just a few more days and I can do our on-line check-in!! It's getting SO close!!!

It looks like your DS had a fabulous bday celebration. The cupcakes were great!!!:thumbsup2

YAY! for 2 weeks! Time will really fly by now. We are leaving on Saturday and I cannot wait!!!:cool1:

The kids luggage is sooo cute. I am packing by the ziplock method this time, too. I really think it will save time in the mornings.
