Hey totally off topic but if you do upgrade to a moderate you should try one of the Port Orleans!! I am a real big fan we did a split stay POFQ/OKW on our past stay and loved it!!! We have stayed at OKW many times and like it but our stay at POFQ was phenomenal from the time we checked in until we left that we are hooked now and just booked a trip with the FD package for 2011 at PO Riverside.

Thanks for the info!! We will have to upgrade next time because our baby will be 3, so we will probably stay at POR with the trundle bed room. Looking forward to that already....even though we haven't done our 2011 trip yet!!

OMG! I read this and it brought back memories of a post I read a few months ago. The woman went on a vacation with her abusive mother and brother. She called herself "Pooh-sized" and said people were cruel in "world" about her size. She rebooked for September with just the "kiddos" as she kept calling them in the past posts. I had a lot of empathy toward her. I felt so bad that she had a family that could be so cruel. I even had my husband read the post and he could care less about the boards! He felt bad too! It sounds identical to her. I am not criticizing. I am just glad that it was just not me that saw the trend. Just started thinking about planning another vacation as it has been a few months and kids are heading back to school so getting involved with the boards again myself--as myself!:goodvibes

That is the same poster as the OP. She was using another SN a few months ago and another one before that.

Many of us felt sorry for her reading under her 2nd name, until we put it all together (first name and posts,) and then I still did and I think others did too but for different reasons. Something is going on with this woman, I hope she gets some help for the sake of her kids (if there are any which I suspect there is.)

Those of you planning on staying at POR, I hope you love it as much as we do! That is our favorite resort--especially DH who is not really a Disney-person.

We love POR too. It's a great resort and we will be staying there again in May.

I've only seen the inside of a POR room once. And thought it looked fabulous. I love the grounds, and have spent many days wandering around it, biking through it, and taking the Sassagula Cruise. And Boatwrights is soo yummy. I wonder if they'll be open for breakfast during free dining. Yummy, chip and dale toast.
It's on par with the Wilderness Lodge/Ft Wilderness for me.

LOL, I remember that whole fiasco about taking the auto train but it costing too much. And her brother is the only one that can drive, but she hates him and didn't want him to come on the trip. I want to say she was planning a few nights at the nick hotel as well on that trip.

Of course every kid is gonna say "I wanna go see Mickey"... you're the parent, act like one.

Wow, it gets crazier and weirder every time I open this topic. And I remember all these topics, but I just didn't think to put them together to create one person.

There were also the varying degrees of her children's functional capacity depending on the need of that particular thread. I remember one child was said to have the mental capacity of a 10 month old in one thread and in another thread the same child was requesting to go see Mickey Mouse specifically at Chef Mickey's.

Another budget tip for anyone trying to make $$$ for WDW (just to keep the original topic going despite the OP's identity reveal) - if you have kids then check out kids consignment sales in your area. You can earn up to 75% of what they sell for - a nice chunk of change! The ones in my area take sizes preemie to juniors plus toys, equipment, books, maternity clothes and just about anything kid related.

DD16 also took some of her clothes to a store called Plato's Closet and they bought several pieces for cash (or they will give you store credit). They only want "mall brands" like abercrombie, hollister and american eagle but every little bit helps toward the WDW fund. :thumbsup2 Plato's Closet is a chain like Once Upon A Child so check your area to see if there is one near you. There are also stores like that for sporting goods called Play It Again, Sports and one for musical equipment. Granted these stores don't pay much but it is quick and easy and you get cash in hand.

I budgeted my trip PERFECTLY ...Ideally I was supposed to have $300 in disney gift cards and around $500 cash spending money. However I had several money emergencies these past couple of months and now I have pratically nothing to take to Disney :(

I booked our trip and paid it off as well as our airfare. It's just me and my two kids. They are 3 and 5. We will be staying at Pop Century September 12-18th . I have the DDP for the 12th-17th and a room only on the 18th (flight prices was really high and i thought i had enough money to cover the extra day)

My adr's are all planned out.The bad news is ....i only have a $150 gift card (to cover tips /extra snacks and drinks) ...and I will only have $200 cash :( It's like nothing . I put aside 20 bucks for mousekeeping...so that dwindles it down to $180...than the taxi to airport back and forth is another $60 ....than the kids will want food at the airport while were waiting for our flight...another $20 atleast . Not to mention i have to pay 0OP for our final day meals as well as departure day ...i feel like its too much stress and there's not enough money...

should i cancel the whole entire trip...or is there a way to do this and stretch that penny until it bleeds?
My kids are so excited to go see mickey mouse and my dd will flip if i tell her she isnt going. I cant believe i budgeted so poorly :sad1:

i havent read the other posts so if i am repeating, i do apologize. what about magical express. if you used magical express that would save you the cab fare. i have always used magical express on my trips. it might take a bit longer, but i just dont want to worry about driving or shelling out the extra $$$. we usually book the earliest flight possible. i dont buy the airport food. i just pack something. i make my own breakfast sandwiches with egg, cheese sausage, on a roll or bread. i then put these in sandwich bags and place in a ziplock. i save $$ buying the expensive airport food. just by doing these two things you are saving $80.

not to sound cheep but when dd and i go down we usually bring about $200. we have plenty of $$ but this amount doesnt include tips. i just tell her that she is allowed one souvenir and the rest is spent on anything extra we might want. once the money is gone its gone. we always have a blast and never feel deprived. she just is happy to be on vacation. anything extra is a bonus. dont let the lack of spending money discourage you. you are going to have a great time!!!!

Well I was suppose to be at disney this week with my dh and boys,it would have been the boys 4&8 first visit,so I'm a little sad that someone would be making up stories.Once we canceled our trip I found the budget board and it has helped me come up with ideas to save for a new trip,so I have been reading everyones ideas and learning alot. THANK YOU:flower3: My new plan is to go in Feb.2012, I cant get enough money to cover the trip and an emergency fund before then.Has anyone gone during the end of Feb.? I had ADR at Boma tonight:sad1: the last time I was at disney was for my honeymoon which will be 14 years this March:love: Keep all the great advise coming I'm taking notes!:thumbsup2

I dont post a heck of a lot, but I read all the time, and I while I love the money saving ideas and tips, I just have to comment that the OP/disneymama409 is an utterly despicable person to not only "try" to waste people's time, but the way she "uses" the system is disgusting.

I wish I had the time to play around on message boards all day. Or, I will say, it is more despicable that she wastes her time on message boards with this crap with having two small children, who also have special needs.

One word: Karma.

Wait a second ... DisneyMama409 ... you were just in WDW 4 months ago and you planned a second trip when your regular budget is so rocky that a couple hundred dollars worth of emergencies turned everything upside down? My advise is not going to be popular with you or all the other people who want to "make it work" for you. My advise is to cancel your trip and re-examine your priorities. To be blunt, IMO you have no business going on two WDW trips over 5 months when you are spending every single penny you have to do so.

And before everyone jumps on the bandwagon to defend the OP, take a look at some of her previous posts as DisneyMama409 first.
Popular or not, your advice is right on the money.

OP, you're living too close to the financial edge -- and with two small children! Time to relax is a necessity, but going to Florida to do it is a luxury -- especially when you were just there a few months ago! You are simply not in a position to afford it. It's just not wise to go on a vacation that'll take literally every penny you have, and if you have to sell items from your house just to afford the vacation (knowing that you'll come home and have literally no money) then it's a doubly-bad mistake.

But then, I see in some of your other posts that you've "splurged" on club level at the Beach Club and are planning a Disney cruise next year . . . wanta share how you're managing that if $450 is keeping you from this vacation?

Chip and Dale toast do tell!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's yummy yummy french toast with powder sugar on top. And they had mickey mouse pancakes, with a cherry nose. Maybe allears.net has some old photos of it. Maybe some one here does.

That's what we would order, and then share each meal.

ETA: Found a pic of the Mickey pancake

That mickey looked as if he got attacked by a bear or a bad rabbit:rotfl::eek:

No matter who the OP is the advice from the real people is great and I thank you! It was not a waste of your time or mine for reading this posting.

As for the OP I do feel sorry for your kids.

I do want to say to all of the PP's who said what does it matter how she spends her money it doesn't affect me I have to respectfully disagree. This is the attitude that has gotten the economy into so much trouble. It does affect everyone in the long run when many people have this sort of spend spend mentality. Where as expensive vacations, cars, homes, etc... becomes a neccessity. They run out of money eventually and file bankruptcy. Who pays for that? You and I do. Now it's affecting all of us. All of the empty forclosed homes that sit empty that the banks and cities will need to pay to keep up to code, the tax payers pay for that. So unless you do not pay taxes this type of mentality does affect you on a daily basis. Not to mention children are possibly being raised to mirror this type of thinking to affect future generations. If the OP is really receiving federal/state aid, sadly I think that part's true, we are all very affected. So by telling someone hey it's your money spend it how you wish it doesn't affect me, I don't feel could be any further from the truth.

I'm sorry but I work 40 plus hours a week so my DD can enjoy many things. We are planning our first ever trip to Disney here shortly and to think that someone living off of my hard earned tax dollars is going for the 2nd time this year and planning a cruise next really fires me up. Not saying that there aren't many people receiving assistance that really deserve it and I honestly have no problem with that. If you have the money to plan these sorts of vacations multiple times a year, well give me my tax money back. I could really and honestly use it for my family's trip.

The only problem with that argument is that we all pay taxes for things we don't support. I vehemently protested the useless war in Iraq, can I ask for my money back on that (which since ~44 cent of every tax dollar goes to fund the military, I figure I'm owed a heck of a lot more than what you pay for social services)?

Unfortunately taxes are a requirement in our society, a society we supposedly built on freedom of choice (which nowadays people seem to be fling that word around).
So as aggravating as it can be (and I hate wasteful spending just like the next guy) yes, people have the freedom and the right to be absolutely, 100% irresponsible.
Be careful what you ask for, once we feel we have the right to "regulate" morality and behaviour it usually does not end well.
So as foolish as it is, we either fully support the concept or we don't because once you start using the argument "my tax dollars" then I get to use the same argument.

Cute! I make Mickey Mouse pancakes on the weekends for the kids. I'll have to add the fruit to make the face features.

Actually all 44 cents of your tax dollar didn't go to support the war in Iraq. There is much more to the military than that and for the record, the military is simply carrying out orders that are issued to them from Congress and the President. To say more would turn this thread political which is against the rules. My DH is PROUD ARMY going on 16 years. My college sweetheart was killed in action in Afghanistan and he (and his widow for that matter) would have heartily disagreed with your stance. This isn't an area you and I are going to agree on so I'll leave it at that and agree to disagree. Oh, and by the way, my nephew is a helicopter pilot in the Coast Guard (also a branch of the military supported by your 44 cents - most people don't realize that) and he hasn't spent one second dealing with the "useless war" but he did have the 2nd highest number of rescues during Hurricane Katrina. Money well spent I would say. ::yes::

One of the great things about this country is that we as citizens have the power of the VOTE. If we don't like the way things are being done then we have a voice and a vote. Rally against welfare reform and stop people like the OP from being able to milk the system and while being able to take lavish trips that some hardworking Americans can only dream of taking. Don't like the war and military spending? Call your Congressman/woman and Senators. Get active and involved if you are so passionate about it but don't sit back and complain about it and do nothing. How long does it take to write an email or make a phone call? Less than time than surfing a Disney message board I would bet. :thumbsup2

Off my soapbox so I can take my Army brats to school now. :teacher:

As usual when you criticize the military the point is totally missed.

MY point is that everyone pays taxes for things they don't like so the argument "Give me back my tax dollars that go to XYZ" is not a realistic one and it is also not a scenerio we would really want hence the line in my post be careful what you ask for.

Very happy you are peachy keen on the military, some people are not so and whether or not I vote is moot. Previous poster was asking for her portion of taxes that went to social services, if she gets a refund on what she doesn't like than every one else gets one also. Then where would we be. taxes are the price you pay for the current system.
