Oh Boy...I dont have enough money for Disney

Something people should keep in mind when planning a "budget* trip to WDW...hurricanes! You can plan very carefully and think you have enough money to cover your trip, but there have been instances when planes have been grounded and instead of returning home, you have to pay for more time at WDW you hadn't counted on. That means more meals as well. For people who drive instead of fly, you can get tangled up with FL residents buying all the gas and clogging up the roads trying to evacuate. MONEY. Have more than you need for the unexpected.

If there were any doubts, the OP is indeed DisneyMama409 a.k.a. DisneyMama a.k.a. JustAGirl (among others).

My tip-off was taking a taxi to JFK Airport, the tipping thing, and how she didn't respond to any comments concerning Walmart...

Wait a second ... DisneyMama409 ... you were just in WDW 4 months ago and you planned a second trip when your regular budget is so rocky that a couple hundred dollars worth of emergencies turned everything upside down? My advise is not going to be popular with you or all the other people who want to "make it work" for you. My advise is to cancel your trip and re-examine your priorities. To be blunt, IMO you have no business going on two WDW trips over 5 months when you are spending every single penny you have to do so.

And before everyone jumps on the bandwagon to defend the OP, take a look at some of her previous posts as DisneyMama409 first.

I had a feeling the OP was Justagirl/DisneyMama

Sounds like enough $$ to me. DDP covers food. Just don't go crazy on souvenirs.

WDW is a treat, but sometimes is necessary. One never knows if life is going to throw a curveball. Enjoy life while you can, you won't get a second chance.

Feeding your family is necessary. Having a roof over your head is necessary. Running around WDW isn't.

:confused3

how did you know it was another poster? I am going to have to do some searching on old posts I guess...I'm confused.

The poster's name always changes, but details remain the same.
Ages and gender of the children.
Living in NYC. (I remember Justagirl posted that she lives in Brooklyn. When I disputed something she said that I knew was wrong, she deleted here location.)
Money problems

I think if you do some reading of former posts of the other IDs of this OP then you can see why this is a hot button issue.

Some people work hard to save money to go to WDW and some are able to go through the generosity of those that work so hard and pay taxes. That's about all I can probably say without getting points. :rolleyes1

I remember that thread.:sad2: I believe it was Justagirl who listed all of the gov't assistance she gets.

ay ay ay. I remember that person/those people. Just didn't read into it far enough for it to "click". :headache:

The whole taxi thing to JFK seems to be a common theme among all the posts.

I just don't frequent the theme park boards often. I know way too much, and would spend all day writing a post for every topic... So I didn't make the connection, but I do remember some of her other topics.

is there any way you can drive down? that would save you a lot of money

even if you can't , would do away with the DDP. you can eat pretty cheaply if you split counter servicemeals hubby and I (and we're not small people) always SPLIT a funnel cake at sleepy hollow for breakfast, and we're full!
if you have to fly, pack some granola bars, or breakfast bars for the morning. ice water is FREE! at all the counter service places. at most of the counter service restaurants they give you way too many fries anyway! we end up throwing a lot away! I would do away with the ddp.

oops! silly me! I fell for it. anyway. my advice is sound advice for anyone! (we used to split a casey's corners hot dog, until they "shrunk" it!)
but at El Pirato (whenever it's open) you get 2 really BIG tacos! easily splitable.

::yes:: That is exactly why so many people remember this poster. There was quite a bit of outrage over someone milking the welfare/disability system and then having enough money to take multiple weeklong WDW trips a year. In the original thread the OP seemed to be almost bragging about being able to do so and saw nothing wrong with it. :sad2:

What is even worse is that this poster's story is more likely more true than troll.

I'm glad others are able to use some money saving tips from the thread.

Smidgy - we always split a funnel cake too! Those things are huge! :thumbsup2

I don't rememeber all of the other post, or the OP, but that is insane!

Thanks for all of the money saving tips that are here in this thread. I am trying really hard to save money right now to take my DD who graudates this May from HS, and the rest of us to Disney the day after she graduates. All she has asked for is a trip to Disney, so I am subbing at my friends daycare, having a yard sale soon and another before we go. I am cutting back on other things too like eating out. We are also eating leftovers more than normal and doing anything else to help cut back. One BIG money saver was getting free dining while we are going to be there. :thumbsup2

ITA!!!! And wasn't she doing a split stay with the Beach Club because she deserved to stay there!! I am thinking if I could not scrap up enough spending money for the trip lodging at the BC would be out of the question. I am all for saving money and getting the best discounts but I do not want to worry about money on vacation or how much I am spending so if I were in this situation I would just not go.

I think the JFK thing is new. Justagirl was taking the train to WDW. Many of us tried to convince her to fly instead of taking the kids on such a long Amtrak ride. Can't remember which trip that was for.

I agree, I don't believe she is a troll. Based on things she has posted about schools/day care here, as well as the amount/type of aid she gets, I know she isn't just trolling. I know many people who game the system. They all have the same attitude as the OP. They all get a kick about bragging about the help they get. They all seem to to be able to take advantage of WANTS that many of us have to put off while we take care of NEEDS.

However, the OP is the only one I know who brags about all of this on the internet.

I have small kids as well. Let me tell you. We went in 2009 with the QSDP and $200 gift card..we spent NO extra cash. The QSDP is a lot of food for the kids, the snacks went a loooong way, we saved them for later, Refillable mugs are included with this plan. We used our GC for souvenirs. We did not eat at the airport and packed out bags with snacks both ways. If you downgrade to QSDP, you will SAVE a lot. Plus, with kids that small, they may not be up for eating a sit down meal every day. Good luck and Pixie Dust! Also, if you cancel now, you are within 45 days so you would lose some money, right?

YES! I totally forgot she had talked about staying in a Deluxe or was planning to - wasn't she staying Concierge level too with a split stay at another resort?

I feel sorry for the kids. What a role model.

Just realized from reading the posts what's going on! That is some CRAZY stuff. But, everyone is right, it's good to share budget ideas. We only go to Disney every 2 years, so that we can plan and save accordingly and have no worries. This year we are going on several vacations, so we decided to stick with VALUE for Disney...POP and FREE QSDP!! Maybe for our trip after that in 2013, we will splurge and upgrade. It's all about planning. If you can afford to go every year or several times a year, go for it, that's great!! If not, then plan accordingly. We are happy with our planning and my husband LOVES a deal!!! I may not ever be able to convice him to spend the money on Deluxe.......but a girl can try!!!

Hey totally off topic but if you do upgrade to a moderate you should try one of the Port Orleans!! I am a real big fan we did a split stay POFQ/OKW on our past stay and loved it!!! We have stayed at OKW many times and like it but our stay at POFQ was phenomenal from the time we checked in until we left that we are hooked now and just booked a trip with the FD package for 2011 at PO Riverside.

No reason why you would need a flame suit on this thread. If you do then I better don one too! :thumbsup2

Some posters are just more memorable than others I guess - especially ones with posts like the ones posted in the past by this OP under the other IDs.

No hornets nest stirred here. I would agree with your post if it were to a poster without the history of this OP. :thumbsup2

Thanks about the Army button. DH has been in over 15 years. Guess in a way the US taxpayers pay for our trip, too. Thanks to all of you!

Yes, but your DH puts his life on the line, I think he is well deserving of the taxpayers money :thumbsup2

She, on the other hand, sits around and takes what the gov't pays for her to take care of her children, without paying back into it, and has time on her hands to be a troll. Maybe if she got a job she would have less time to troll :sad2: and more honest mony to go to Disney on.

I notice she didn't come back, guess she couldn't take the heat. She needs to cancel her trip, if she really has one booked and take care of her children.

You can do it don't worry, trust me I know what it's like to be on a super tight budget on trips. Take all the brilliant advice from these forums and make sacrifices.

I hate to discuss someone who isn't even here to defend herself, but I agree too - not the real definition of a troll. I remember most of the old threads of the OP, under different names, if indeed those are her, and I agree that she is a needy person, with serious issues. There is lots of attention seeking behaviour - thus different screen names, and postings of very personal and private matters. She seems very troubled, but is definitely getting something out of the discussions she keeps having here on the boards.

Something is definitely working for her, so I suspect, she will just register under another screen name (if she already hasn't), and continue with her troubled life on screen.

I wonder if any of it is even true...? Regardless, some great tips on her that will surely help another family, Tiger

OMG! I read this and it brought back memories of a post I read a few months ago. The woman went on a vacation with her abusive mother and brother. She called herself "Pooh-sized" and said people were cruel in "world" about her size. She rebooked for September with just the "kiddos" as she kept calling them in the past posts. I had a lot of empathy toward her. I felt so bad that she had a family that could be so cruel. I even had my husband read the post and he could care less about the boards! He felt bad too! It sounds identical to her. I am not criticizing. I am just glad that it was just not me that saw the trend. Just started thinking about planning another vacation as it has been a few months and kids are heading back to school so getting involved with the boards again myself--as myself!:goodvibes
