You guys told me about the no fee Amex card from Costco, well I signed up today and got approved:cool1: The reason I think it will be dangerous is that today shopping at Costco, I got a couple extra items so I went over my food budget :rolleyes1

Seriously, I know what I buy at Costco every week so I'll be sticking to my budget pretty much because well, we HAVE to be on a budget.

btw, gas purchases ARE 3% cashback.

We have had ours for about 6 months. I thought I would have a problem but nope, I pretty much have stuck to the budget. I keep a seperate register book with a starting balance, record and deduct (send a payment out immediately to cover the days shopping). Every 2 weeks I am alloted x dollars; If I have $$ left at the end, I transfer that to our "Disney Vacation Fund" and start fresh with every pay week.

Good Luck!

I usually use it for gas and paying the balance on my DCL cruises.

As the gas rebate is 3% and the travel rebate is 2%, I've already got enough of a rebate to renew my Costco membership and have money left over.
And, as we have an executive membership, we get 2% back on our Costco purchases, so that will be extra $$$!!

I LOVE my Costco Amex card......:thumbsup2:banana::goodvibes

I don't have the costco amex but the starwood (hotels) one. I can still use it at Costco though. You're right, it IS a lot more tempting, but with few exceptions (like meats) I don't buy anything there that they don't send out a coupon for, so it's a bit easier to stay on track.

Cash back rewards are mailed out annually in February, so be on the lookout for your check next month.

I used to spend way too much at Costco until I heard this advice- never get a shopping cart. You are more likely to buy only what you need if you have to carry it. A shopping cart is too easy to fill up.

This is almost the only credit card we use now. We do have a Disney Visa in case some of the business don't take AMEX cards.

In our family's situation, this one offers the best rebate because a Costco check is just like a cash to us and we can use it to buy things we actually need.

I also love AMEX's customer service, much better than some other credit cards.

I got the Canadian one.....don't know if it is different than the American cards or not, but I am cancelling mine....I got it originally for the ability to put my winter tires on it and pay them off over a few months....however, the interest is astronomical at 29% and many places do not accept the AMEX card.....it is not worth it to me to keep this card, I have an executive membership with Costco, and our reward ticket in August is usually enough to renew our membership for free....plus another chunk of change to spend as we see fit.....anyway, I have not been impressed with my AMEX card and now wish I had not applied for it.....I was automatically approved for a 11,000 limit.....:scared1: I don't like the idea of having that much credit available to me either! this thread reminded me I need to make that call to cancel my card!

Ha ha ha

We also spend too much at costco. But, did notice our spending was reduced when we got rid of the minivan for a smaller vehicle. Maybe we should just walk to costco from now on.:)
