I don't think that is true at all, and in fact, many people have the exact opposite feelings toward child performers, as there is a very serious history of major problems with child performers. I felt the opposite toward Miley - I was hoping she wouldn't make out with drag queens in her videos and writhe around on a bed, almost naked, but alas, she chose to follow in those footsteps as well. I was hoping that she would gradually grow into adulthood, and not be the subject of constant rag mags, but that was not to be.
Why? Because she wants to sell herself for years to come, and feels this is the only way to do so. Because she hates working for Disney, and wants to distance herself from Hannah Montana. Because her parents have been selling her out since she was a babe. Because there is a lack of guidance in that household. Could be a combination of all of these reasons, for sure.
The fact remains there is a major disconnect with Miley as the last 2 seasons of Hannah Montana have been playing simultaneously while she has branched away from Hannah in her personal life. So, you have girls who are used to HM, and yet there is Miley, half naked in a cage singing about sex. Doesn't add up. She should have waited until she was done Hannah Montana, and then branched totally away from this persona and into her new one. It's ok for her to take the millions of dollars she has made from HM, yet she says how glad she is to be done with that persona and now she can show her true self. Seriously...her true self is making out with multiple partners in a cage on stage? If it is, then have it, but after she is done with the first contract/gig that actually introduced the world to Miley in the first place. If I suddenly want to become a stripper, I cannot do so, as I am under contract as a Catholic highschool teacher. I would have to quit or retire early, and then pursue this new career path. Why? Because those two paths are highly conflicting, just the same with Hannah Montana and adult Miley. And for the record, just because turns 18, it doesn't mean they are a responsible adult. She is just turning 18, and in my book, has made some poor personal and career choices. Seems like Miley has been around forever. What the heck is she going to be like in 10 years, if she even lasts that long? Overselling and growing up way too fast, surely take their toll on people, and there are lots of examples in Hollywood of this.
Let's be honest, neither she nor her father can sing, and they are terrible actors too. Yet, they have made millions, and are now selling out all of the other kids as well. This is not a talented family, IMHO. They are good at marketing and convincing people that they have talent. How long will it last? Not sure, which is probably why they are conducting themselves in this manner - get it while you can!
