Oga's walk up.

Hey Guys,

What's my chances for a walkup for Ogas on the 24th of March?

I thought I had the timezones and booking windows sorted, but it seems overnight this day was released while I was asleep, and not when I was expecting it - not the 3am LA time I was expecting.

Do I just keep checking every day leading up? and hope for a walk in? or am I dreaming now?

Coming all the way from Australia, just wanted this day to be perfect. And I thought I knew how to do this! *sigh*

Thanks guys.

Don't give up. Something similar happened to us for our October trip and Oga's was a priority. The reservations were randomly released at an odd time and I missed it by 15 minutes and nothing was available by the time I tried. We actually had that happen for more than just Oga's. Well, what was really irritating was I could find things, but the stupid park reservation system messed me up, as they were for before 1:00 p.m. on our California Adventure days.

We wound up getting to go to Oga's more than once during our trip- with persistence, I had reservations for two days before we left for our trip. Set up dining alerts with mouse dining and/or touring plans. I set up the free one a while before our trip and then a couple of weeks before our trip when I didn't have the times I wanted, I went ahead and did the paid one. Grab the first one you can get and then reset the alert and keep trying for better times. In the week before our trip and during our trip I had alerts for Oga's popping up constantly. Also, when we were there, Oga's was taking walk ups a lot, especially in the evening and you need to go over there an check because the app would say the wait list was full and people that walked up and asked were being put in a line and let in.

Thanks! I just signed up for Mouse Dining and set a few days for alerts. Fingers crossed :)

Keep checking as you don't know when someone will cancel. I've gotten walk ups for Oga's before and it is a bit competitive. Sometimes they have a line but last time I got a walk up for Oga's in September, you would mass refresh the wait list in the app once in Galaxy's Edge. Around 9AMish seemed to be the best time to snag a wait list spot. Once in the wait list, they would give you an estimated return time and the app will notify you when there's a spot.

Walk up is very doable too, and happen fairly easy. Reservations just guarantee you get a sit down table.
I'm not sure about having a guaranteed sit-down table with a reservation. We had a reservation in December and they first gave us a stand-up table. We said that we had to sit down (exhaustion!), so we waited a bit longer and got the sit-down table.

OP: Keep trying. You will get something.

Not true about the table. We have never had a seat, always used a reservation.
Weird, I was there last week and they said that because I had a reservation it meant a table. It was just me and I didn't want to take up a whole table myself so I stood at the bar and let someone else have the table.

Reservation is the only way to get a table, but you still might not get a table. Walk ups rarely (never?) get tables. Best way to snag a table is make an advanced reservation for a larger party (though smaller parties can sometimes get them too!).

I could be wrong, but I think it's possible that by "table" they don't necessarily mean a table with seats. There are stand-up tables there as well as the bar.

I don't think there's any real rhyme or reason. Last time we had a reservation we were standing at the bar. :confused3

We went mid-January and were able to do a walk up. We initially had reservations for two nights at Oga’s, but Disney cancelled them unexpectedly. We did have to wait 40 minutes to get in doing stand by.

I'm likely doing standby for everything. I'll check for reservations, but with just the 2 of us, and flexibility being key, I'm thinking it'll be easier to just try to squeeze in at some places like Ogas. Should be okay with a little persistence.
