Oga's Cantina: Is it worth it?

I loved Oga's. We dont' usually go to lounges/bars on property tho, not because we're teetotalers, just cheap. Most drinks are just too pricey for us. But we wanted to try Oga's for the SW theming. We went pre-Covid though, and yes, noisy, crowded, experience, but fun. Was just DD and me, and we were placed at a standing table with 8 other people. barely room for my drink to have a spot on the table. Second time we went, was all 4 of us, DH, me, 2 kids, and we got a small table for ourselves, still standing though. We had fun. Fuzzy Tauntaun was yummy and different, got 2 of those!, and kids (even pick DS,) liked the jello type dessert. I'd definitely do it for the experience, and I think it's worth it. Keep checking for other times to open.

Been a couple of times since covid. You aren't placed with other parties or near other parties. In my case both times we wanted to be at the bar so we requested that and had to wait longer.

I much prefer being at the bar but if you want to sit down you need to request it and be prepared for a long wait since there is very little areas with seats.

We loved grabbing drinks at Oga’s on our December 2019 trip. 4 adults in our party. We all ordered 2 different drinks and then tried each other’s. We had a blast, and I’m not even a bar scene human. The vibe is upbeat and fun. I’m not sure if I would want to go if I had kids, but that’s just personal preference.

Not sure what it’s like during the pandemic. We were going to do it. It decided on no indoor dining for our upcoming trip. If you are fine dining indoors, I think it’s great to do once to see if you like it. The drinks are interesting but expensive, so check the menu to see if those prices will be worth the experience for you.

This was a one and done for us. Went mostly for the experience and will likely not go again! Too many other fun things to explore at HS.

A fuzzy tauntaun is practically a mimosa. A must for Star Wars fans. pass for those who are not...

Worth it once, for us don't ever need to go back. It's interesting to see inside and fun (super expensive) themed drinks, but I wouldn't waste park time on it again.

We are glad we went to see theming aspect of Oga's not long after it opened. It was soooo crowded and so noisy. No way was our experience what you would see today with covid. We were packed in like sardines. You were permitted to stay no longer than 45 minutes. I think today with social distancing guidelines it might be more enjoyable. We did not have children with us.
The 45 minute limit is still in place

I was not overly impressed with Oga's Cantina, the CM who escorted me in was lovely, but, apart from that it wasn't great, they cram you in like sardines, expecting groups to join together in booths, my CM tried to get me a seat in several half empty booths, oddly every group already seated had people who were in the bathroom, the CM, bless him, was annoyed with them as he knew they were lying (he didn't say it outright) and kept apologising for it. I told him I was okay to stand at the bar, but, he insisted I have a seat and eventually found a booth where they were just leaving. The food and drink is nothing special and incredibly over priced, it's all about the theming and that is outstanding. I would prefer the morning again as the menu was more of what I wanted, but, to be honest, I'm not that desperate to go again. it was a one off for me.

That's not actually true any more--booths are no longer shared due to social distancing. So it actually is a really great time to go.

Sadly, as much as I'd love to we still can't travel to the US. I hope Disney learns from this and doesn't go back to packing as many people in as they possibly can.

Me too--I'm actually not sure we'll go back if they don't. It is so much nicer without the crowds--comfier, quieter, and better service.

The mixed drinks wayyyy too sugary for me so I usually just get a beer--we go because our kids like to see all the neat stuff in there and drink something sugary and glowing. Though that does beg the question, if they aren't going to go back to massive crowds, maybe they could make it a real bar with drinks that can be customized/made to order instead of pre-mixed.

There were bar stools when we went in October in at least some areas. We got to sit at the bar.

What are the chances of getting a walk-up table? Do they even have those available and if so, are there any tricks to getting one if we can't get one in advance?

Had drinks last week at Oga's. Loved not having to share a table with strangers. Last visit we were at a table with 2 other couples each with a baby in a high chair. Ordered 3 drinks, snack tray and left before the 45 minute mark.

We were there pre COVID, January 2020. It was right before park closing time and just happened to be walking by. A CM waived us over and asked if we wanted to come in. We stood at the bar and both my sons loved it. They were 21 and 17 at the time. It really feels like you are in the movie! Maybe we were just at the right place at the right time but might be something you could try.

Sometimes they have the walk up list available in the MDE app.

It was a fun experience, and I'm glad we did it, but it's a one and done for us due to the cost of the drinks and lack of snack options.

Where do you find the walkup list on the app?

It shows up on the restaurant's page as "Join Walk-Up List" or you can follow these instructions from the DFB:
To get yourself on the waitlist for these restaurants, log in to the My Disney Experience app, and select “Check Dining Availability.” For walk-ups, select today’s date, choose “Now” when searching for the time. You will then get to see what’s available. You can select the restaurant from there (make sure you’re nearby) and get yourself on the waitlist!

I don't see it on Oga's anymore, maybe it's just not available for today yet? It was back in the fall.
