Hi,
In the past if I was only doing one day at a Disney park, like we are doing on a December mini trip (week before Christmas week with low crowds, due to my son's college finals finishing up on Dec. 13th) I've just gotten our tickets at the gate (no discounts) and we're always there super early (early rope droppers), so have never even had a wait at the ticket window.
Anyway I even have a customized touring plan for our MK day outlined through touringplans.com. Predicted crowds are just crowd level four and wait times are predicted to be quite short for almost everything.
I can see maybe two FP+ items that might be helpful. My longest expected wait is 24 minutes for Peter Pan at about 10:00 a.m. We'd only want to do that once and would want to do it at around that time, so maybe I should try for a 10 a.m. fastpass for that. Also, my son usually likes a second ride on Space Mountain, and in our plan I have some downtime from 2 p.m. till 5 p.m. for shopping on Mainstreet USA and visiting some of the monorail resorts, so thought if I could get a Space Mountain fastpass anytime between 2 and 3:30 p.m. that that would be good. Ride prediction times for a ride in that timeframe would be 45 minutes, so if we can't get a FP+, we wouldn't bother doing it for a second time. We will have already ridden it earlier in the day with a short wait without a fast pass.
Most of the stuff it looks like will be almost walk on for us.
So if I go through the bother to buy my MK tickets in advance and signup for My Disney Experience, and attach my Disney tickets to my account, has your experience been on low crowd days similar to this, that 30 days in advance (offsite so no 90 day option) that I could get these two FP+ items in the timeframes I would be interested in? Or are just random times typically offered that I wouldn't even want, and given that these FP+ items I'm thinking of (couldn't even come up with three) aren't that big a deal to get, would you not even bother with that and just see how things go at the park and use the Kiosk to see if anything is available that day?
I might do the former just to have the experience of playing with the app. I wouldn't if I can't get these FP + times, though, even bother with getting any in advance (more trouble than they would be worth).
Would love to hear experiences of others in terms of flexibility on relatively low crowd days. I'm just really picky on times and see the FP+ more as a hindrance than a help if I can't get it for the specific time frames I'm looking for. Will I, do you think, if I do this, say "Boy that was a huge waste of time."
