Offsite vs Onsite?

Can you have a magical vacation-staying offsite? How?

  • Never stayed Offsite,but I might someday

  • Always stay Offsite, never stayed on WDW property

  • Have stayed both on and off- I hated Offsite!

  • Have tried both,I'll always stay offsite from now on!

  • Never will stay Offsite, only on property for us!

Spiceycat, you own DVC,and still stay offsite sometimes? We've always loved the different DVC options we've tried.....any condo type places that compare to that?

definitely there are bunch of other timeshares out there.

Marriott, Hilton, Wyndham, Sheraton, and a bunch you would not even recognize the name

if you like high quality like Disney - then Marriott and Hilton.

Hilton grand vacation club is definitely one of the best.

when Spicey was live - his last few years - were generally always spend at Celebration World resort. It excepted pets and it was around 5 minutes from AK - further to the other parks. Now if you don't have pets then pick another place. It is fine but not one of the bests.

I have my 3rd off-site trip happening in 28 days. I like the convenience of having a condo with full kitchen and laundry.

I am a single mom and it is nice to be able to invite other people to join us because we have a 3 bed/3 bath condo that is way too big for just my son and I. I have invited another single mom to join us next month and since I have the timeshare booked and it doesn't cost me any extra to have them join us, so I am not charging her anything. We are splitting the cost of the rental car, groceries, tolls and gas which I would expect to end up being about $250 for the week. I have an AP so we don't have to pay parking.

To me, it is a win-win situation. I get company and she gets an affordable vacation. It was also pretty cool last year to have my brother and his family join us - it made it totally affordable for the 4 of them to do Disney without having any accomodation cost. The way I look at it is that I have to pay my maintenance fees whether I use the condo or not so as long as it doesn't cost me any extra to bring other people, I will not charge them anything.

I am going to try the All-Star Music in November and sharing a room with another single mom and her son - I must admit I am very nervous about it. I don't enjoy line-ups and crowds so knowing that I will be at the parks in line-ups then come back to resort to line-ups - it will be interesting. Going from a 1,520 sq ft condo with 3 bed/3 bath to 260 sq ft room with 1 bath - :confused3:

The funny thing about staying at Disney Value Resort is that it will actually cost about $150 more than doing the timeshare thing.
