Hi All,
I have always been one of those people who have stayed on Disney property resorts. I don't have anything against staying off site, I just never looked into it... Untill I called Disney and not one room was available for the time I wanted to go. I did find what I thought was a pretty good deal at the "Wyndham Palace Resort and Spa" This was suggested to me by the CM at Disney. I don't know anything about any of the off site hotels so I looked it up on the internet. I know that it is in the DTD area, free shuttle to the parks, and a character breakfast. This sounds great to me! I wanted to book it but evidentally there were no rooms available there now either.

Okay, now on to my question.....I have since decided not to go to Disney at the certain time I wanted to go and will be rescheduling my trip, but I am now going to consider some off site resorts and had a few questions.........

I was concerned about the distance from DTD to the Wyndham and I asked the Cm if I could walk to DTD and she said sure......She later tells me it is 2 miles... ! Okay, there is no way I am walking 2 miles to get there.

How many of the resorts that say they are with in walking distance to DTD really are?
I do know that almost all of the DTD resorts offer the free shuttle to Disney but was just wondering about walking there. The Double tree suites in WDW resort area also says that it is in walking distance.

I would welcome any comments you all would have to say about any of the off site resorts that offer a free shuttle to the parks and any other "Disneyish" Ameneties such a character meals or with in walking distance (and by that I mean acrross the street) from DTD and the market place.
Thanks!

The Wyndham is more like .2 miles, not 2 miles. It's a five minute (give or take) walk to DTD.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: 2 Miles that was funny!!!!!!!The person you were speaking with had stared at there crt to long.....We stayed there last mothers day and as ducklite said its more like .2 miles. We had a great view of down town disney and of the fireworks :wizard: Hope you have a great trip! :wave2: And the wyndham is closest to dtd.Pm me i have some photos of our view.!and i have a couple of photos of the hilton downtown disney.

Doubletree Suites is actually the fartherst from DTD. Don't know the distance but I would think close to a mile.

Hilton, Grosevnor, Wyndam are very close.

What would you call a disney ammenity, i have stayed offsite at times and had better service then staying onsite, unclear is there something specific?

Thanks everyone for your replies. And thanks Happy Lawyer for the compliments on the pics!
Now I know for the times that I can't stay onsite (for the right price), that there are several other offsite hotels worth considering. The Wyndham, The Grsvenor and the Hilton are all in the running. I do have one question about the Wyndam Palace though... We got a qoute from a Disney CM to stay at the WP for 5 night for $1443.90 That comes to $288 a night and does not include park tickets. For that much $ I could stay at an onsite Deluxe Resort such as the Poly or the BW,,or Heck, we even stayed at the GF for less than that already. Then I got one the Wyndahm web site and saw that they had a deal out called "magic at the Palace", so I called about it. This qoute was even less then what Disney qouted me and it DID include a park hopper pass. I wanted to book it, but I was told there were no rooms available at the time I wanted to come. So anyway,I was just wondering what the deal with the WP was. Do they normally offer a package deal like that? Also, what is their normal rack rate per night? Thanks.

I only stay at the Wyndam on Priceline bids. It's nice but NOT near nice enough for $288 a night! I have also gotten adds from them for around $100 a night.

I would go to the Ritz and commute for that price. When are you going? Must be a really busy time of the year.

We stayed at the Wyndham for around $80-90 per night via Hotwire last year and did not think it was worth the price. The lobby area is very pretty and there is a nice pool, a spa, and a fitness center, but the rooms are nothing special, the restaurants in the hotel are very expensive, and the bus transporation to the parks is rather spotty. We did not consider it easy walking distance to DTD in inclement (chilly) weather.

Are you sure you can't stay onsite at the Dolphin or Swan for the price the Wyndham is asking??
