Has anyone stayed offsite and not rented a car? What hotel did you stay at? How were the shuttles? Thanks!

We stayed at the doubletree on major blvd and is on a 10 minute walk and they also had shuttles and were on time for the most part and we enjoyed staying at doubletree and was a nice hotel but I think they raised thier rates and for the price they are asking now I would stay onsite but it could have been a mess up on thier site I would check rates first.

yea id love to know how inconvenient and how much u spent on busses and whatnot during a week. im considering staying off property and not renting a car but i am not sure just yet

I am at the Double Tree at Universal Main Gate now and I have found it to be very good. Price was only $89 - $119 a night, rooms are clean and I have a park view from my 11th floor room.
Bus runs 3 or 4 times in the am and 3 times in the afternoon/evening.
I took it yesterday and today and it was on time and the Double Tree is the first stop picking up and the first to drop off. You can also take a cab to Universal and it is $5.

They have a Starbucks and Pizza Hut express in the lobby and a TGIF across the parking lot.

nice hotel, free nice breakfast, 2 shuttles in am and 2 shuttles in pm, 10 dollars at most for cab of 5!

Most of the hotels on I-drive offer free shuttles to Universal. They usually only have 1 or 2 times they leave in the mornings and then come back in the evenings. A taxi from that area should only be around 10.00 one way though.

Just checked the doubletree's rates 249 a night and we got it a whole lot cheaper last year and for that price you can stay onsite and don't get me wrong doubletree is a nice hotel but not worth 249 a night.
