Offsite hotel help please!

Long story short - I may be heading to Florida for a family crisis/emergency situation (driving) and so on the way home we want to do one day at Magic Kingdom.

When we have gone with the kids, our usual plan is to stay at Buena Vista Suites the night before we check in to Disney. We always have a car, so distance wasn't an issue.

But this time, no on site, just one day at MK.

We'd like to book two nights - one for the night before we go, and a second night the day we go to MK so we can get up and drive home in the morning.

I'd totally stay at Buena Vista again - but I'm weighing options.

Are we better to stay in the Downtown Disney area and use Disney transport to get to MK?

Or is it better to just drive ourselves, pay to park at Disney and not bother with all the fuss with buses and Disney transport?

Any pointers would be great!

Try either the Quality Inn and Suites or Clairon Inn on Palm Parkway. Both are great hotels that are close to DTD no resort or parking fee's. The Clairion Inn is a suite hotel so you get a full kitchen and nice size room. Rates are $75 - $85 a night.

There is a pizza hut a 1/4 mile from the hotel.

I would drive and pay to park since you are only there one day why waste time waiting for a bus or two depending on how crowded it is

Thanks - that's what I thought. I didn't think parking was super expensive ($20?) so we'd rather park on site and then not be reliant on a shuttle.

The Quality Inn looks to be more $$ than Buena Vista Suites - so we may just end up there if we are better to drive anyway. With free parking & breakfast there, and I'm familiar with the area, I may just pre-book it and then cancel if we end up not going.

I would drive to the parks so I had my own car. We used the busses to get to DTD and my DS said never again.

I would just stay at the Buena Vista Suites.

Buena Vista Suites is a good option but then you lose some of the Disney perks. Any chance you can stay at an All Star or Pop?
