We have never stayed offsite before, but are wanting a last minute trip during our March break. I can't seem to get anything onsite for a reasonable price (there are 5 in our family:rolleyes: ) so am considering staying offsite, since we will have our car. Can anyone give me some pointers? How can I really tell which resorts are closest to disney - we will probably only be going to MK and Epcot since we only have 2-3 days there. I have looked at the priceline maps, since I ususally use pl to bid, but I can't tell which zone even I should be bidding in.....I am clueless with directions! I saw lots of people have been winning the Grand Hyatt Regency, is that nearby? Any help would be appreciated, and advice on rather this is even a good idea - DH and I got lost for almost a hour last summer just trying to find our resort, after that we parked the car and used the disney shuttle for the rest of the trip:rolleyes:

This map will show you the subdivisions for condo, townhouse and pool home rentals and there's a few hotels listed. The homes in the Formosa Gardens area are close to Disney. Windsor Hills # 1, Emerald Island #15, Encantada #17, Crestwynd Bay #7, Windsor Palms #13 etc. Listings are found on:
http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/florida/central-disney-orlando/kissimmee
www.allstarvacationhomes.com www.floridasunvacationhomes.com
Also if you look at the top of the page you can find accomm. on the dreamsunlimited.com site.
There's other condo type accomm. at Vistanna Resort #114, Floridays #121, Cypress Point #153, World Quest Resort #108, Lake Buena Vista Village #138, Bonnet Creek #118 and so on.

Though the Hyatt is a nice hotel and close to Disney you do know you wouldn't be able to put 5 people in one room right? And if you use priceline they won't guarantee for more than 2 people. Buena Vista Suites are close to Disney and usually have pretty good rates. Also check on Expedia All star Music family suites have been coming up for some dates for $130-140 per night. What dates are you looking for?

Not sure what your dates are but Buena Vista Suites has suites for $107 per day during some days in March. Today is a one day sale for that price.

Let us know your dates. There are so many deals out there right now. I was just looking on e-bay for a possible trip in April, and there are so many timeshares listed. For March (different dates) I'm seeing a Cypress Pointe 2BR/2BA with a starting price of $699 and a buy it now price of $799 (for the 21-28) but I've seen the Phase II section on myresortnetwork.com for $550...or a 2BR/2BA at Polynesian Isles starting at $399 (20th-27th). There are also tons of Bonnet Creek opportunities or Star Island. I've also been seeing Cypress Palms being auctioned off at on Sky Auction (2BR) for $296 total.

My advice is to keep your options open and look at all of these places (ebay, skyauction, myresortnetwork.com - for timeshares, and vrbo.com for condo rentals). You can also check bookit.com for last minute hotel deals.

Good luck!

Here's a list of some nice resorts that are very easy commutes to the parks.

OrangeLake.com
Marriott's Grande Vista, Horizons and Cypress Harbor Resorts
Cypress Pointe Villas
Silver Lake Resort
Sheraton's Vistana and Vistana Villages

Also...check out the links on mousesavers.com for their recommended hotels.

And...check travelzoo.com as well as www.hotelkingdom.com.

When you find a place you might like, check out the reviews on tripadvisor.com.

Good luck to you!

What's your goal? I generally stay in hotels in the Lake Buena Vista area. It's just outside DTD and an easy commute to everything without getting lost. (Go to DTD and follow the signs or get on I-4 heading West and follow the signs)

There are a couple of suite hotels there. (Staybridge, Courtyard LBV has suites, Residence Inn etc) There are nicer and cheaper hotels. Really depends on your "comfort needs" If it's just a place to sleep go cheaper LOL!
