offsite fp question

Its been a while since I've been to Disney and I'm not up on FP changes. We are offsite. My internet isn't working well so its hard for me to scroll through all the posts and you all have always been so helpful! How does fp work if you're just going for the day? Thanks in advance!!!

If you have already purchased your tickets, you can register them on the My Disney Experience website or app and make your selections up to 30 days before you arrive. If you plan to purchase your tickets the day of, you will need to proceed to a kiosk and make your selections when you enter the park. Touringplans.com is a great source for suggested itineraries and kiosk locations for each of the four parks.

My friends are at MK for the day today they purchased the tickets at their hotel(Best Western) and proceed to link them (via scanning ) with their iphones on their way to The park and everything was easy for them... Be concious that the spots may be limited due to how crowded the park is and the hour that you arrived , for example at 10am today they got the fastpass they want with nights hr all after 7pm
