Good Monday everyone,

We are looking into a longer stay on our next trip, I was looking into renting a condo(there are a lot in Windsor Hills). We plan on going to disney , Universal and spend a day at the beach. Has anyone done that route, what did you like , what are the disadvantages.... We are also planning to go by car.Any recommendations will be appeciated.

Thank you for your feedback....:thumbsup2

Hi! We are doing this, too. We rented a house in Windsor Hills as we have grandparents with us, as well. We haven't done it before, so I guess I'm not in a position to advise you but I think this will work out very well for us. My dh is very negative about the cost of food at the Disney Parks, so allowing him to cook some dinners at the house will make for a less stressful trip for him. Our house is walking distance to the big pool and community center so looking forward to using that area for some down-time as well.

We stayed at Windsor Hills last year. It was a great place. We rented a 3 bed/2 bath condo and walked to the pool. My children 8 & 10 did not like the pool as much because you could not really jump in. 5-10 mins to Disney.

In 2004 & 2006 we stayed at Windsor Palms - similar set up to WH but older and not as nice. The children liked the pool better there, there was a "deep" end that they could jump into. 10-15 mins to Disney.

We love staying offsite, away from the crowds, not cramped in a hotel room and we saved money by eating breakfast at the condo before hitting the parks. We packed our lunch everyday and when our stomach's started to grumble, we just quickly picked a spot, sat down and ate. No line waiting and deciding what to eat.

We're also doing this for this trip (Windsor Hills-3bed/2bath).

The benefits to me are: kids have own rooms and t.v.s so when we all need a break from each other we can all get it-definitely not so in a hotel room! Also no sharing beds with kids so I won't be kicked all night. We always have gotten a hotel rm with kitchenette and thought it great to do our own brekkies and lunches-can't wait for full kitchen and dishwasher. Another advantage is washer/dryer right in condo. At hotels we've found them far from our room and a charge to use. This way the kids can wear their favourite Disney outfit more than once, if they want, and we can take less clothes (yeah, okay, like that'll happen! LOL I'm going to try to take fewer clothes!).

The only drawback to me is if your condo or home are not that close to the pool. Ours is not right at the pool so we'll have to walk a bit to get to it.

Otherwise, I'm seeing very few drawbacks and lots of benefits, especially with WH so clsoe to Disney and restaurant/shopping districts. You do have to have a rental car, I suppose, since I sure wouldn't want to pay the WH shuttle fees.
