Hello all you Disney Dis'ers.

We are staying at the Caribe Royal and DH & DS are having a day off from WDW and are going to play in the water whilst DD and I are off to have a girly day at MK. My question is...

whilst our hotel has a shuttle to take us to MK, I want to know if I can get a bus to and from the Disney Village to MK instead of taking the hotel shuttle. I think that the shuttle will be way to busy at the end of the night whereas I can get DH to pick us up from DV.

Any help will be great.

Yippee, 2 weeks today and we arrive for our WDW & US/IOA holiday

There is no bus from DTD to the MK. You could take the bus to CR and then walk over to the MK, and visa versa, it's less than a 10 minute walk.
Personally I would use the hotel's shuttle, to the park anyway and maybe use the DTD bus upon exiting.

Okay, please forgive me for using an old term. I have always thought of it as Disney Village but will try in future to call it DTD. However, I am struggling with the CR abbreviation. Help please:sad2:

Could the CR be Contemp Resort?:confused3

Yes the term CR means Contemporary Resort.

Also their bus to Downtown Disney also shares with the Polynesian and Grand Floridian. However another option you can do when coming from the Magic Kingdom is taking the bus to Saratoga Springs since it's the closest resort to Downtown Disney and when you arrive there exit at the Congress Park stop, because they have a walkway that goes to Downtown Disney.

thanks for all the help - still pretty new to the DIS boards. I think it will be easier to work out the best option once we are there. I can't really get my head around the logistics of taking the bus to different resorts and where they are in relation to DTD.

CR Resort Fan 4 Life - thanks and GO LEAFS GO! We are just down the road in Guelph

I have always thought of it as Disney Village but will try in future to call it DTD.

I still think of Walt Disney World Village as the proper name for Downtown Disney, and still tend to refer to it by that name, even when in Walt Disney World. Old habits die hard. Most cast members seem to know what I'm referring to, so I'd imagine they still hear about the Village sometimes.

Ok let's go real old school here, it's the Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village.

Don't the off-site shuttles drop off at TTC? I thought only Disney busses dropped AT MK.

Are there not Disney Busses from TTC to DTD?

Otherwise you can walk to the Poly (not the CR) and take one of their busses.

To get there go to the Marketplace and take a bus to Contemporary, then walk to MK.

To return take a bus to Saratoga Springs, get off at the Congress Park stop and walk to the Marketplace.

If you take a bus to Disney from your resort, you will be dropped at TTC, then have to take the monorail or ferry to MK.

You WILL NOT be able to get to MK very early any of these ways.

Disney buses will be pretty packed at the end of the night as well. I love the idea of taking bus to SSR and walking to DTD! I'm thinking, though, at the end of the night (if you stay until closing or close to it) you MIGHT be better off going back to Contemporary and getting DTD bus. Although DTD buses are kind of notorious (for being slow, stopping too many places, etc) you may actually get a less packed bus to there than the bus back to Saratoga Springs, as right at MK closing there will not likely be too big of a crowd heading to DTD. You can walk back to Contemporary or take the resort monorail; it's the first stop when you leave MK.

Of course, if a bunch of other people are doing something similar, then the DTD bus will also be jammed, LOL.

BTW, since mentioned, no you can't go DTD to/from TTC. DTD buses are strictly to/from resorts.

DTD buses run only to the resorts. They do not go to any parks or the TTC. This is discourage off site guests parking for free at DTD and going to the parks.

From MK, your best bet is to walk over to the Contemporary (or monorail there) and catch the DTD bus. It will then go to the Poly and then on to DTD. It does not share with the GF. Wilderness Lodge shares with the Grand Floridian on the DTD route.

Thanks everyone for your help, but just one more question please..

Do you have to be staying at a WDW location to be able to use the buses and (sorry, two questions:scared1:) If I got the monorail from MK to one of the hotels, could DH drive there and pick me up without paying to come in?

11 days till our US/IAO & WDW holiday - so very excited now!!

WDW transportation is available free for all day guests. A day guest is a person who is a resort guest or has valid admission media or is shopping in a WDW location or eating at a WDW resort location. So this is pretty much everyone on property at a given time.

Depending on the time of day and park, hubby may be able to pick you up without paying but the normal practice is that all cars entering the toll booth are charged a parking fee unless they meet the requirements for free parking (resort guest, AP holder, already paid, CM).

The only place where you can talk your way through the toll booth legitimately is at MK, as guests of the 3 MK resorts, Richard Petty experience, Lost & Found, SOG and golf courses have to pass through there ans do not pay a parking fee, this goes also for day guests visiting those resorts. MK pickup is at the TTC near the taxi stand. You cannot pick up at the park.

#1 No. #2 I think yes but you probably won't want to do this.

No, you don't have to be staying at a Disney resort to use the Disney Transport buses.

Yes, I don't see why he couldn't drive to a hotel and pick you up, but, in that case don't do the Contemporary. It's on the same road that all the MK buses use to get to the MK bus stop. Would be plenty congested at that time. (There may be another entrance to the Contemporary, but that seemed to be the main one.) I would think you would want to avoid MK area resorts, as getting back out you will have lots of traffic from any of them because you'll likely have to mix with MK parking traffic. You could consider other resorts, but buses back to resorts will all be busy at MK closing time.

I think getting to Contemporary then taking the DTD bus is a better bet than having DH drive to Contemporary/Poly/etc. Unless you'd actually want to do something at one of those places, like have late dinner, etc, in which case him driving over might make more sense.
