Officiant Questions - Catholic and Jewish

We are planning a WDW wedding next November. I have a question about the officiant. I am Catholic and my DF is Jewish. We do not want a religious ceremony but would like something along the lines of combining both traditions. Anyone out there combining religions? If so, what officiant did you use and how were things worded.

df and i were both raised catholic. we are not religious by any means...my fmil is jewish (she converted a few years ago) and is very into her religion. she arranged (though at the time we didn't know it) to have her rabbi marry us at disney in a non-denominational service. this is ok because 1. the catholic church doesn't recognize a marriage that is not performed in a church 2. they wouldn't marry us anyway because i refuse to do pre-cana classes and we've lived "in sin" for 5 years...since we weren't religious it's ok that the rabbi is going to marry us.

I have to say, DH and I were both raised Catholic and for my 20th Anniversary at Disney we are having our local Rabbi perform the service. He's a wonderful man! and we love him and I couldn't imagine anyone else performing our ceremony.

Good luck with your decisions. I found that if you bring your own officiant, you can custom make your ceremony with someone you know. Just my two cents.

Neither of us have a priest or a rabbi and we will be coming down to Florida from NJ. Are there any officiants that are on Disney's officiant list that do this type of ceremony?

Get in touch with the officiants and tell them your situation. Most of them are willing to work with you and give you the ceremony you want. I found that was the easiest way to figure out who could do what

We will be down in WDW in November and will be doing a Site Inspection. I heard that they give you a list of officiants then. I will contact them and see how they would handle this. I was just wondering if anyone had any first hand knowledge.

Yes they do give you a list. If you go onto the disney wedding website and do a wish book there is the same list of officiants there. I know we are both are catholic and we arent have a catholic wedding since the church will not perform weddings outside the church. My corrdinator was able to tell me who will perform a catholic type cermony without being married catholic.

Sorry, I thought you had the list already... oops! There is a Rabbi on there and there are several officiants that will do a Catholic wedding outside of mass. Your best bet would probably be to start with those people and see if they can combine both, although most of them are Christian so I'm not sure if they would be able to do any Jewish elements. If it helps, we used Pastor Jaeger and he let us write our entire ceremony so maybe if you wrote everything and told him exactly what you wanted, he would do it. He was very, very sweet and was pretty much willing to do anything to make our day perfect.

I mentioned in another thread that we were in the same situation as you (DH is Jewish, I'm Christian) and we used Ron Rosenzweig. He was really great. You can email him through his website and get a copy of the ceremony and see if it's what you're looking for.
