Hi All,

It has been some time since I have been a regular here at the Resorts forum, but in March we plan on booking our next trip and I need to get back in the loop of things. :earsboy:

We plan on going December from the 26th to the 1st or 2nd of next year. We have been saving since our last trip and are hoping to have enough to stay at the Poly for our first Disney Christmas vacation. Any advice? We have never stayed at a deluxe and need to know everything there is.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Not having tried the Polynesian in the winter I am not a good person to ask about staying there during Christmas but I get emails from many after they return from a trip to the Polynesian around Christmas time and they seem to love it at the Polynesian during that time. I even had someone come back last week and they said I have to stay there some time during the holiday season. I would have thought that the WL or GF would have been more of a holiday atmosphere and a better location for the colder months. I also enjoy walking around the Polynesian at night which is fine in the summer when the nights are warm but I always wondered how I would feel if it were cooler out. I like warm weather. I am sure there are many people on the DIS that have experience with the Polynesian during the holidays and they will give you their opinion. I think I might try it myself next year in between November and December.

Aloha

Steve

We were at the Poly 12-8 through 12-10 and we stayed at WL last year for a week in December...we loved the Poly but for decorations WL can't be beat.

Boy Steve I though you went all the time!!!

I love the Polyn in the fall/winter. We stayed for Dec one year. Mother had a problem with the heater - the fan must be on for the heater to work properly. so she kept turning off the fan and the heater did not work.....

anyway we had a great room - lagoon view. I just love watching the fireworks at the Mk from my room. You not only get to see the regular fireworks (nightly or almost nightly) but the special fireworks for the MVMCP.

It is far enough away that the kids can sleep through the fireworks. At the Cont you are not. So don't even consider staying here when the MK has late fireworks if you have little ones who wake easily.

the polyn does have some Christmas decorations. but they aren't knock your eyes out like the GF or WL does.

the big problem we had was with the swimming pool. It was kinda cool - but I just love to go swimming when we can't here at home. So I went swimming both times the lifeguard apologized because he had just flushed (????) the system - so the water was cold.....in the heated pool.

we never had that problem at OKW, Pop, WL/VWL, BWV, POR - have stayed in all of them at one time or another in Dec.

Great info! What types of decorations are at the Poly versus the WL?
