***Officially Official September 2017 Thread***

We are still scheduled for September 16-23. I am thinking if I have to wait until the last minute to cancel if need be. I think we will be ok with missing Irma but now I'm scared about Jose

We just got home and I am catching up. So sorry for those who have had to cancel. I think you were in good company because it seemed to be getting pretty quiet when we left. I will keep my fingers crossed for everyone who is yet to travel this month!

I have The Jenn Tracker on twitter and she retweeted a pic of Hurricane Andrew put next to Irma and she's so much bigger. So I hope not many more people are affected and if they are its just a bit of cosmetic damage, it is awful what has happened to those on the islands. - I really hope Jose dosn't go near those islands, Burbunda (and prob Antigua) don't need anymore.

I don't think Disney will have too much trouble I'm more concerned about the surrounding area as I fly out on the 17th. Will MCO be up and running, will the rest of Orlando be ok etc.

I had a pre-booked trip to KSC and I think that would be the most likely to be cancelled aspect of my trip. If I need to cancel Universal and my I-drive plans I can and just keep my trip contained to Disney if other areas were affected. Again just trying to give myself other plans depending on how the weekend goes.

My airline (Virgin Atlantic) is allowing switching of dates and locations of flights for early next week so I know if they extend that to my dates I can do that. I just checked the hotels I want to use in Anaheim and LA if I were to head to Disneyland and I can get rooms there (cheaper than Disney but would cost more than the last time I went there sadly). I would need to do some serious planning in like 3 or 4 days though. Thank goodness you don't need to schedule things the way you do in WDW.

I just saw on BBC news that UK guests in Miami and the surrounding area were being evacuated from their hotel only to get to the airport and find theres no spaces on a flight to the UK until after the storm. Unless you pay £6000 for a first class like one guy did. Hopefully they can connecting flight out of the area and home.

Hey y'all, I've been lurking for a while getting tips for my upcoming trip 9/15-9/23 :)

But now I'm considering cancelling due to potentially large crowds... It seems like everyone has rescheduled their trip to the dates I'm going. There is virtually no hotel availability anymore.

Do you think the crowds will be bad? Is it worth dealing with the hot, muggy, rainy September weather if we won't even have the benefit of low crowds/wait times?

Any input is appreciated. I haven't been to wdw in 7 years and am spending so much money on this trip, just want it to be worthwhile. Thank you!!!

We'll be there 19-26. The hotel avail was low to begin with. It's food and wine. Free dining. A lot of people are either canceling entirely or pushing their trips back even further.

We are there 16-28th. I don't think too many people are moving just days out. Most that I am seeing are moving October and later. Most people don't have flexibility at work to just move vacation a week later this late in the game. It may be a little busier, but after all of this, that's the LAST thing I'd worry about.

Thank you both for the replies. I'm probably just overthinking everything at this point! And I totally agree, things could be much worse.

Crowds are usually light this time of year. Even if everyone who booked this weekend moved to next weekend, it wouldn't be like Christmas crowded. There's likely going to be a little more people but this is Disney, crowds are going to be a given. I'm going to enjoy myself next weekend even if there's a little more people, so should you! I hope you enjoy your trip.

Our DW vacation is to begin on the 19th. We have no idea what the aftermath of this hurricane will be, at that time. Not sure what to do. The amount of mixed emotions we are feeling are overwhelming! So sad and concerned for citizens of the southeast. Then, selfish thoughts of our long planned trip creep in. It's just awful.

Edited to add: Just learned Disney World has closed down.
Closed what? All I see is night of joy and Halloween party cancelled.

Heard from friend in Tampa area that Disney has closed and refunding reservations. She has heard it on local news. Maybe they need time to batten down hatches and get employees home in case they want to leave town. Just a guess on my part.
Accepting new reservations can and has been turned off for past events in order to allow for rooms to be available for people needing to extend their stay as an emergency, CMs at times, FW people and FL residents so it's been said in other threads. Refunding reservations at least to my knowledge is for those canceling their trip (though some have had issues keeping discounts if altering their plans to a later date).

Disney does have a ride it out team of CMs per the other thread this morning:
Poster 1: "People working at WDW may simply not be able to go to work."
Poster 2 (a mod): "WDW already has made preparations in this dept. CM have been asked to sign up for shifts to serve guests at hotels. If a curfew in Orlando/Kissimmee is issued then the parks MIGHT close but for resorts CM have already been assigned spots and rooms to stay"

Prepping has started there-I do know that Grand Avenue area (muppets courtyard area) currently under construction at DHS has had skrims, fencing, anything else that could be picked up by the winds at cleared out and removed.

I have no idea if your friend down in Tampa has accurate information but at this time only Blizzard Beach (which was announced earlier) will close September 8 and 9th with Typhoon Lagoon currently still open during the time that Blizzard Beach is closed. As far as the parks that's all that has been all that has been officially announced at this time to be closed.

I do know the hurricane keeps shifting over time or what others say "wobbling".

I apologize. I was only passing on what I was told. I will delete that part of my post.
