Official Wine & Dine 2014

Not gonna lie - am terrified to eat Saturday. Still not sure what/when, but am pretty sure Parisian breakfast isn't on the menu for me!

Same.

I lost something like 15 minutes in the DL Half to bathroom breaks. It was awful. And it's actually more time lost, because of all the "oh dear, help me" walking I was doing before getting to the portapotties!

Last year I had a pizza at Vai Napoli around 4PM, then a bagel with PB at 9. I know most people eat a big lunch and a smaller dinner, but I'd get too hungry for that. :confused3 I didn't have any GI issues (of course, I was just limping along with a foot strain so it still wasn't a perfect race for me...:headache:).

Chef Mickey's for breakfast around 10. Lazy day by the pool. Wolfgang Puck for dinner. Then off to Epcot to park and shuttle it to the start line. The first (or maybe second) Wine & Dine I had similar "Where the heck are the bathrooms in the Studios?!?!" awkward walk.

I don't remember problems during TOT last year, but since then I've had problems with each Half I've run. Maybe it's a morning run problem and I won't encounter problems for WD; since it's almost like a very late normal at-home run for me with the time difference, maybe my body is used to running on a day's worth of food?

It's all TMI, but also such a concern for those of us who are too sensitive.

1 week to go :cool1:

Today I'm trying to replicate race day conditions for my last long training run before the half next weekend. I'm planing to go out late this evening (~9 pm or so). To me the biggest challenge is trying to fuel enough today so that I'm not overly hungry come race time or too full since I don't like to eat much more than a banana or oatmeal within 2 hours of a long run.

Here's my plan today (not including water): I started off this morning with a homemade oatmeal ball with peanut butter at 8 AM with coffee, then just finished off my largest meal today (10:30) with 4 pancakes, 2 eggs, 1 sausage, a few spoonfuls of geek yogurt, and almond milk (chocolate). Then sometime in the late afternoon (4 pm) I'll have a late lunch with perhaps a light sandwich or even bagel with a peanut butter. Finally about 2 hours before my long run tonight I'll have my typical pre run banana and/or small oatmeal bar depending on hunger. Too much?

I'm sure I'll be hungry after the run as well, but that's ok since Epcot will have plenty of food available afterwards :)

Looks like a good plan - please report back with results.

Any solo travelers going to W&D? It's my first solo trip to WDW and running! If any other solo travelers want to meet up for a day in the parks after let me know!

I was able to get in and do 14 miles in the dark, cold, and wind tonight. Things went fairly well, although I did have a few bouts of stomach cramps at various points during and after the run, but nothing that caused me to stop. In general I'd take that result next week!

To be safe I probably will need to space out my last meal a little more and reduce the serving size a bit. Plus I added a cup of cofee about 90 minutes before the run. Not sure that was the best decision either:confused3

So my mom was going to run the 5k with me but now thinks she broke her foot. If she picks up her packet, technically can someone else wear her number? I might get my friend to do it that lives local but if not does anyone on her want her slot?

Does anyone know if we can use Disney gift cards at the Expo? I'm hoping to buy a pair of the rD New Balance shoes and some rD merch. Has anyone had success using gift cards for these items?

My guess: for official runDisney merch, I know you can. For New Balance I don't think so, since you are buying from New Balance and not Disney.

FYI on the official merch - ask about Disney Visa/AP discounts. :)

I'm here now, if you have any Disney questions. As for the race, I went 12 miles at my longest a couple days ago, but that should be good enough for my running/walking pace of 13.5 minutes/mile goal. I'm mostly doing it for the experience and bc we had the trip planned and then I saw there was a race while we were here. :thumbsup2

Also, if you see a half pink/half blue Sleeping Beauty on race day, say hi to me.

I don't know about the shoes, but I have used gift cards on official merchandise (this was at ToT 2012, so it may have changed). I was also able to get a Disney Visa or AP discount, and my friend could charge it to the room (pre-Magic Bands). About the only thing different then buying at the parks or World of Disney was we couldn't ship it back to the resort.

I am only doing the 5K but I am super excited just the same!! Doing this with my 15 year old daughter who helped me lose 55 pounds last year! I wanted to lose 100 total, but I will take the 55 for now!! I will just have to come back next year when I lose the rest, right? :)

Have a great weekend, everyone!! It's going to be a blast! :)

First of all, congratulations on your weight loss! :)

Second of all - none of this "only the 5K" talk!!! You're doing the 5K! That is awesome! Be proud!

Have a great time, you will love it! I thought the race was soooo much fun last year. :)

Anybody who has lost 55 pounds is a WINNER before they cross the starting line. Way to go!
