Official Wine & Dine 2014

RunDisney has replied that someone is able to pick up our 5 bibs on our behalf since our plane is arriving too late for us to get there Friday night. Any fellow DISers willing to help us out?:grouphug:

I don't mind picking them up. I am staying at Bay Lake and leave them at the front desk. Or Fri night, we will be at Epcot. I am not running JJ, so handing them over then won't work.

Anyone have an extra ticket to the finisher's party? I just went onto Run Disney to buy my husband a ticket, and it is sold out. I am totally in the dog house over this one. Anyone?

Thank you! I have emailed them again to see if I can get them myself saturday morning....if not I will definitely take you up on your offer!!

We are also staying at Bay Lake. How are you getting to and from the race? I think I'm driving, but driving that late in an unfamiliar area--eek! Or maybe I will leave the car at a race hotel (like Wilderness Lodge) and drive from there... The problem is we have a flight out of Tampa at 8:30am the day after the race, so this is going to be an all nighter for me.

Is there a photo of the half marathon shirt? Don't they usually have them posted by now.:confused3

I thought I was crazy to book my flight home the evening of the Princess half. And the fact that we have a 9:00 breakfast at Kona this time....I can't believe you are driving to Tampa after the after party! I hope you don't have to work on Monday.

I really don't have a definite plan either. I am thinking of taking the bus to the Poly after the race/party and then grabbing a taxi or calling DH to pick me up. A taxi from Poly to BL can't be more than $10. We will have a car too, so the other option would be to leave the car at Epcot, but then I would feel the need to run with the keys. Definitely do not want to lose rental car keys. Plus, I agree with driving tired/leg cramps/dark/etc are not ideal driving conditions for me.

Thanks! The reason we are doing that flight is bc the flights into Orlando were crazy for that week. Like mid $3k for us, and we are 5 coming from Philly. They never went down. It can't hurt to have the car.

I'm used to staying up late, like 2am, because I work while my kids and husband sleep. Right now, the plan is to do that race, get the family around 4am, and drive to Tampa. It does sound nuts though. I have a 2 year old! :scared1: And yes, we have work and school on Monday.

Hi Everyone! So excited that the race is almost here! I was just wondering, as this will be my first half and first runDisney event, what do you normally pack/bring with you? Or what would you consider essential to have a good race? Thanks a bunch!!:wave2:

Update on my end. Finally saw the orthopedist today. Good news is I know what I got. Better news is several weeks of PT should hopefully take care of the problem. Best news: As long as I'm careful and don't push it to much (like don't run hills so back to run/walk it is) I'm cleared to race!

The funny news is somehow I'm the one that ends up with deep hips when I come from a family with shallow/displastic hips!

2 things I wish someone told me for my first race:

Bring throw away shirt to keep you warm prerace

Pack wipes, clothes, brush, toothbrush in a zip loc and turn it in to bag check for after the race. This way you can zip loc your sweaty clothes after you clean up.

Is the ESPN complex open seven days a week? We are considering upgrading our tickets, and the lady on the phone mentioned that we could upgrade them in person at the ESPN complex. The other option she gave me was to cancel our six tickets and then buy seven day tickets but I was worried that our fast passes would get messed up. If we tried to go to the ESPN complex on Sunday afternoon would there be anyone there to work on upgrading our tickets?

If you are talking about the runDisney discounted tickets, they state they are not upgradable. I'm not saying that they won't nor haven't upgraded them in the past, but the official line is 'not upgradable."

If you're going to plan on leaving the car at a race hotel to leave afterward, might I suggest you consider the Boardwalk? You could take the shuttle to the start and then it's a relatively short walk back from the Epcot International Gateway entrance you run through to enter Epcot for the race; probably less time than waiting for and riding the bus back from Epcot to Wilderness Lodge, and I think the Boardwalk parking may be more accessible since they allow parking for non-guests to patronize the Boardwalk restaurants. Just a thought!

That's what I thought too, which is why I called to check. I was surprised she gave me a couple options to add the extra day after putting me on hold to check on my request. If I would have wanted to add a day before making our FP+ choices, then I would have canceled the tickets and reordered 7 day tickets, but I was too leery, despite her assurance, that it would mess up my FP.

This is generally not the case during the Food & Wine and Flower & Garden Festivals. If you can prove you have an ADR, they will let you park. And the bus from Epcot's parking lot is much more reliable than the Boardwalk/Beach Club buses, if the past holds any precedence.

Perhaps they will allow you to upgrade to another ticket that is offered within the discount sports grouping. Glad you have some options.

I would agree the chance of losing your FP+ ressies would be terrible.

We are flying from Philly to Tampa this trip too- it's a for the first time for us! I agree, the flights from Philly were/are crazy this year! And we have gone to PHL/MCO the same week for the past 7 years!

Us too! Hopefully it will go well. I have to get through Halloween first before getting into Disney mode.

Is anyone else attending any food and wine events while they are at WDW for the race? My dh and I are going to a signature dinner at Portobello at Downtown Disney on Thursday evening and we are going to the Parisian breakfast at Epcot on Saturday morning.

Not gonna lie - am terrified to eat Saturday. Still not sure what/when, but am pretty sure Parisian breakfast isn't on the menu for me!
