Official Wine and Dine 2017 thread

Me too! May 4th and aside from brunch at California Grill, I'm so confused! Glad I'm not the only one :P

I don't think I've ever been this confused about ADR's! I think deciding we were going to Tiffin's again and then the brunch at Cali Grill has thrown me for a loop! LOL! We do ADRs on the 5th so I need to figure things out soon. My BFF is still at Disney so once she's home I'll discuss more with her, but normally she just tells me to book what I want! LOL!

BW for us, too. :yay:

Woo hoo! Party at Boardwalk! party:

The only things I know for sure we're going to do is Italian on Friday Night and Le Cellier after the half. My husband enjoys his carb loading two days before the big race. He specifically requested Le Cellier as well for lunch.

November 2nd: (Thursday)
Dinner - Paddlefish?

November 3rd: (Friday)
Lunch - Food & Wine Booths
Dinner - Il Mulino

November 4th: (Saturday)
Lunch - Brown Derby?/Sci-Fi?
Dinner - Tokyo Dining?/Yachtsman?

November 5th: (Sunday)
Lunch - Le Cellier
Dinner - Flying Fish?

Does anyone know when the Food & Wine dining events are typically announced? This is my first time.

Right now I think our plan is:

Wednesday, 1st:
MNSSHP (no ADR's)

Thursday, 2nd:
dinner at Tiffins?

Friday, 3rd:
F&W lunch
Chef de France dinner

Saturday, 4th:
Trattoria al Forno dinner

Sunday, 5th:
Cali Brunch
After Party

Monday, 6th:
Be Our Guest dinner?

Tuesday, 7th:
Bon Voyage Breakfast

I am really not sure though. I might do Tiffins on the 5th. I just cannot decide. This is the most complete plan I've come with so far! LOL!

I was having the same problem. I figure some of my stuff is going to get canceled anyway, once more F&W dining events are announced. I am doing the 5k, and DH is doing the half. I think this is what we are doing. I have to figure out how to fit Trader Sam's in there somewhere.

11/1 - Ohana early dinner & MNSSHP
11/2 - Nine Dragons lunch (DS wouldn't like it, so we wanted to try it.)
11/3 - Victoria & Albert dinner to celebrate my birthday
11/4 - Flying Fish dinner
11/5 - No ADR. Party at Epcot. (DH doesn't always like to eat a lot after a run. If we do DHS that day, we might do Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge.)
11/6 - Tiffin's lunch (Possibly last day, may leave on the 7th instead)

Is the after race party worth it? It would be included with my race but my husband would have to pay (79$) and he cannot eat gluten. Can it replace most of a dinner?

Since everyone is in ADR mode, we'll have the dining plan so we're curious how Yak and Yeti handles the "appetizer" part of the dining plan. As in is "small plate" an appetizer. Thanks

I've been having a hard time getting my ADRs straight too! My two friends aren't Disney people and have no opinions. Since I'm new to running i have no idea what it's going to be like after the races and if we're going to want to eat or rest. Friends are doing to 1/2 while I'm running the 10k. I'm thinking maybe Raglan Road Thursday, Via Napoli on Friday. No idea for Saturday and then a signature Sunday post race or prior to the party.

In other news, my 10k training is going really well! I did 4.3 miles the other day for the first time. I've been worried that with my pace I won't have time for pictures but I've been walk/running a 13.30 pace so I'm supper happy with my progress.

I think you have to decide whether this is worthwhile for you or not. The food is not included with the party ticket so you'd still be purchasing food at the booths. So while, yes you can replace a dinner, I have no clue about gluten free or whether it's cost effective for you.

We did Yachtsman last year for dinner after the half. The meal was amazing, however we were really too full to enjoy the booths at the after party so this year we are going to do a brunch/lunch, then nap and rest up for the party. Just food for thought.

I'm not doing Wine and Dine this year, but I was just popping in to ask if anyone had any thoughts/ideas for themes now that the Lumiere name is dropped from the Challenge. I'm trying to think what else they could do. Perhaps something with Tiana, since she opened a restaurant? Or maybe they're just going to keep it generic and not really tie a character to it.

I'm traveling solo and excited to try some new restaurants. Thinking Yatchsman, California Grill, and Tiffins. Not sure how to fit in wine and dine events yet.

They likely will keep it generic so they can change up the characters from year to year.

For us we were so tired so didn't fully enjoy it probably, but we did not nap after the half either. Even being tired it was fun to go and do a few rides & meet a character (Pinocchio and Gepetto so kind of rare) and see everyone wearing medals. We did not get anything from food booths but a snack at the regular Norway quick serve. I have no idea on gluten free either, but besides the food booths some quick serve were open too, like Norway. And like said above food is not included, so you can eat before you go too. Rides (only some were open) still had waits but some stuff cleared out the later the party went I heard (we did Test Track single with a short wait), character lines were long at first when we were there and food booths some looked long but were moving fast and others had no lines. So, yeah hard to say if it would be worth it to you or not but that was our experience.

I really can't comment wrt gluten. However, we all enjoyed the party (though we wished the music was more to our taste!), and DEFINITELY got enough food from the booths to make up a meal. We're doing it again this year.

FYI, the "we" is me and my sister who run the challenge, plus DH, DS12, DD10 (they each run the 5K, and DS also runs the 10K with us).

DSis and I more then likely will stick to eating at QS or off property before/after the 10k as were local and that's what we do

Re: gluten free options at the festival they are noted on the menu boards as well as on the passports (I just found my old passport from 2016 and counted 19 notations) if they do the Brazilian Cheese bread again that is GF and one of my favorite festival dishes the past few years lol

My husband is running the half but I know he won't make it to the party (its too late!)

I may just use his ticket to get a couple rides then leave.

Right, I agree. I'm just wondering what other characters there are to use. There aren't too many that would fit the concept of Wine and Dine.

Disney can spin anything to be related really. It could be Beauty and the beast themed as the challenge was, Ratatouille themed, Lady and the tramp, Alice in Wonderland (tea party), and Princess and the frog.
