Official Wine and Dine 2017 thread

So... I just booked a 7 day cruise on the Fantasy, returning to Port Canveral November 4th. I don't think I can resist running the W&D half, especially if I'm going to be there anyway!

Any educated guesses as to whether they'll release more half bibs from the challenge pool? I realize nobody knows for sure...

Assuming that's not likely to happen, it might actually be cheaper for me to register for the challenge and just run the half and skip the 10K (I'll still be on the ship!). Will I be allowed to pick up my challenge bib on Saturday, after the 10k is completed? I'm an annual passholder, and just staying one night, so the travel agent offers won't be a good fit.

You should be done in around 3-ish hours, so your math is correct.

As for the getting back to your resort, that's a moving target. Most busses share with other close-by resorts, won't leave until full, if you're at a monorail resort, you've gotta go through Epcot security to get to the monorail (but that's prob the easiest timing estimate), then you need to factor in time to get to where ever you're going to eat.

The later you're comfortable making your reservation for, the safer time-wise.

So I can typically run a regular 1/2 in just under 3 hours (my pace averages 12-13 min/mile). For princess, I finished in just under 4 hours due to pictures stops and one bathroom break. Then you have to think how much time you might spend at the finish area (will you try to take pictures there as well? eat your snack? go straight to the bus?) We had a medical emergency happen on our bus ride back and ended up being stuck on the bus for a bit while EMT's were summoned (someone fainted and was in the aisle). So give yourself some wiggle room.

Thank you both :-)

We are staying at The Poly so (barring any unseen emergencies) we should be able to get back and cleaned up for an ADR at CG by 11-11:30, I think. I think we'll probably just snap a couple pics at the finish area and then be on our way.

We're planning on the Cali Brunch too :) probably closer to 12:30 for us though.

I don't know if they will release any more :( But you could always try through organizations like raw threads or charities! It's definitely a nice finish to a trip especially after a Disney Cruise! I'm jealous! Going through cruise withdrawal, ha ha! Don't forget to do CastAway 5k! They give out medals now!

Noticed the challenge is still open and thinking about it. Curious, is everyone assuming it's the same half course as last year? I noticed it says the 10k is start/finish Epcot but nothing for half. Any ideas?

Since the Dark Side course went through 3 parks, I would hope they would change Wine & Dine to also go through 3 parks again. Fingers crossed!

I loved the Dark Side course! I am really hoping Disney will consider it for W&D as it totally beats last year!

I saw a woman yesterday at Dark Side that was doing the half in flip flop sandals! Crazy!

What????? How is this even a thing?

I was contemplating Cali Brunch too, but unsure what our plan will be. Besides napping! LOL!

I would consider still taking the bus back to the Poly after the race. It's a good little hike back to the monorail but the buses will be right by the finish area. And while this could change at any time, the Poly has been the first stop on recent trips(it shared with GF and SOG).

Good to know! Thanks :-)

Agreed. We stayed at Poly last year and this worked perfectly. :thumbsup2
