Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

Yesterday I did one of my first big runs 10 miles in 2 hours 10 minutes - now I know that's not going to break any records, but for a novice runner like me (only ever done a 5k before) I'm super pleased. :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

As I was so worried I wouldn't be able to do it in the 3hr 30min and would be picked up by the "cow catcher".

Now after that run I feel more confident and happy, as still have 5 weeks on training and can't wait to get running and my hands of that medal.

Just want to see the route now to get super extra excited.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered already. We are signed up for our first 5K, Mickey's Holiday, and are busy training. We know to go to the expo and will take the bus from BWV morning of the race. What happens when we arrive at AK? Are we assigned certain spots, times to start? How cool/warm do you expect it to be at the start time? Should we bring sweatshirts that we can ditch during the run?

So I hurt my good ankle on Friday (not sure exactly how)

Still not better after 3 days of rest and today at work has been a killer

Ankle Doctor here I come at 4:15pm!

Here's to hoping this race isn't out for me!

You will be assigned a Corral. That will be your starting point. I live in Florida and wasn't cold at all. You can bring shirts and ditch them during the run - they will be laundered and donated.

Here is my report from last year with a 7AM start time (so move times back 30 minutes for this year 6:30AM start time)

My laziness with training is really catching up with me. I had a 10 mile race yesterday and my legs are killing me today. My IT band is acting up, which is making me nervous about the upcoming races. I have a 5k this weekend, a half the weekend after, then my season ends up Wine & Dine.

I am proud of all you guys and gals that have been dedicated to your training schedules! That used to be me and it really pays off! :thumbsup2

oh no @Dis_Yoda , here's pixie dust your ankle isn't anything major!

@juju I plan on packing throw-away (that get donated) sweatshirts just in case it is chilly beforehand. I pack mylar blankets to to have on hand just in case too.

Just to add to what @Dis_Yoda said, you'll get your corral assignment at the expo in the form of a letter printed on your race bib. :)

Oh no! Fingers crossed you'll still be able to race! (But even more importantly for healing!)

Ran the Diva 1/2 this weekend and it was interesting. My knee felt pretty good. The course was tough and super hilly, but the downhills were the only thing that bothered my knee, and more so when I walked. We had a great first half of the race, perfectly on pace. I felt really good and strong. Around mile 6 my BRF said, "I'm done". And she meant that literally. I tried to get her to run every other run interval, but she was really struggling so I just tried to keep her at a decent walk pace. She offered around mile 8 for me to go ahead without her, but when we talked about my knee she said she'd walk it with me if she had to so I wanted to stay with her and motivate her to finish the race. A little disappointing, but we got it done. Hopefully my knee feels as good for Hershey and I can redeem myself. (And she has promised to stick to her training for W&D weekend!)

I had the same thing 2 weeks ago and have been down and out ever since. Peroneal tendonitis. Been in a brace for 2 weeks and finally got cleared to run 1 mile today. Far cry from the 11 miles I was supposed to run yesterday. Luckily my injury was early enough I will have some time to get back into it. Hopefully yours is nothing serious. I definitely feel your pain.

@lovingeire glad your knee felt better, too bad your friend wasn't feeling it though.

We had Fall temps today, it was like 47 when I started my tempo run and was sooooooooo hard to breath. I'm not used to cool temps & was gasping, so had to concentrate on breathing deep breaths to not get side stitches. Now of course it's warmed up to 70s. It's funny how cool temps are good for running but I don't know if I'm ready for them, will take a few days to acclimate.

Heal up everyone, we're almost there!

After the race, if you're staying at an Epcot resort but don't have a park ticket for that day, will there be a bus to take you from the finish back to the hotel?

No go on the vionic flats which disappoints me. I have flip flops and sandals that have a higher arch than the shoes. They have inserts instead of it being part of the shoe like the sandals. So they are going back to Amazon and I'll try the walking store at the mall first. Plan C after that is to find shoes that an arch will fit in and get the running store or the walking store to do an arch for it. Might cost more in the end but at least it'll fit my arch.

So Looks like I'm most likely out for Wine & Dine (at least anyone that saw my instagram knows already)

I probably have a stress fracture - I got an X-Ray today so I'll know more tomorrow after my doctor reads it. I may have to get an MRI if she doesn't see anything.

Still planning on the trip. My husband is still running it.

I guess I need to see if deferring is an option. If it isn't - I'll probably walk the 10K and just do the afterparty.
