Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

I ran a solid 11 miles yesterday and feel decently on track for November, except that around mile 8 I started having pain in one knee on the outside, especially on descents. Seems like it's probably my IT band. I will take it easy for a few days and see how it goes. My question is: what is your experience with KT tape for additional support during injuries? Do you use it for all long runs? Does KT tape truly seem to have real benefits? TIA!

Please, take the IT band warning seriously! I've had it twice (once on each leg), and it requires strength training to truly take care of. I recommend Jason Fitzgerald at strengthrunning.com, but there are a lot of resources out there that basically tell you the same thing. It's a stubborn injury, but comes from very specific and FIXABLE, weaknesses. Do your research and be aggressive with your rehab exercises! (Go easy on the foam roller. It CAN make it feel better, but doesn't address the issue.)

As far as KT tape goes... If you think it helps, it helps. It's not too expensive, so worth experimenting with if you want to give it a shot.

Have you tried to exfoliate your legs to get rid of all the dead skin to help it stick? I found it works best when my legs are smoother and exfoliated. Can't seem to get away with a few days of no shave with it!

I wondered if that medal was going to suck you in Gretchen. I wished I lived closer and I would join you! My next race (Texas Wine Series Half) falls perfectly into the training plan, so I am not having to adjust. Go with your body...

Suck me in it did! It's my favorite candy in a medal...yes, please! Plus, my husband was on board so that helped! I wasn't going to run because of cost and timing, but at least I can check it off my bucket list! Good thing I'm working retail part time to help pay for all these runs and runcations in addition to my regular job now! My other two halves were pretty easy to add in since I could adjust the mileage a little easier before the back to back runs start. This one throws off the training schedule since it falls in between those two back to back runs which are both really long. At least I know my mileage will be set!

Hello! I am a lurker who loves following everyone's great and informative comments on the runDisney board! I am de-lurking to ask if anyone has any experience in linking their race registration to My Disney Experience? A friend traveling down for the weekend with me was able to link her after party ticket to her My Disney Experience Account but I couldn't figure out how to do the same. Thank you for any advice you can provide! *Goes back to lurking*

If you're running, your pass will be given to you when you get your race packet. You won't be able to make the same link as your friend since you don't have a reservation number yet. (For future reference, though, if you do get a reservation to something like this separate from race registration, you would go to "Reservations and Tickets" in the MDE drop down menu, then under "Tickets and Passes" you'll see a button for "Link Tickets".)

I got my 6 1/2 miles in yesterday which was I think the 2nd or 3rd run of any kind I've done since the 5 miles I did two weeks ago. My ear regressed and so I'm still having issues with the crystals staying where they should and I can't sleep on my left side because it's that ear and that's the preferred side. So worse bad sleep than my normal bad sleep combined with a late night friday and I clomped my way through my run. I knew I was doing it, because I tend to run that way when I'm tired and don't even realize I'm doing it. The first 1/2 of the run was good and then I noticed what I was doing so I tried to not do it. My feet were sore this morning when I got up, will just have to hope I'm better rested for the half or work on not doing it, which might be easier :)

Last week was the official start of the 12-week Urban Bourbon Half program, which is the race I am really training for, in terms of time-goal. W&D is two weeks later, so my time goals for that weekend will be more like characters-per-hour. I am primarily using Hal Higdon's Intermediate 2 program with Galloway's RWR method (2-3 minute run, 40 second walk) and I am feeling pretty strong. I need to work on improving my dedication to stretching and strength training and getting a better hold of my calories. Hope everyone has a great training week!

We're also on a hybrid training plan.

Training for a full marathon in February, but we have the Disneyland Paris half at the end of September, which doesn't really fall into the plan, and then the W&D in November, which doesn't really fall into the plan.

But we're still training! (Which is the goal at the end of the day!)

I tried to use it once on my foot and apparently didn't do it correctly even after watching the video on the site over & over because I must have cut off my circulation so my tip make sure you do it right or have someone else do it who knows their stuff. Olympians are wearing it so it must help somewhat both physically & mentally.

My training last week was good despite having my piriformis syndrome flare up, hope taking 2 days off (sat & sun) helps. Just need to be mindful of it, which is so frustrating. I made a start on my run outfits by crocheting my hair accessories, that's the important stuff, right?!

Good job to those getting it done & here's to pixie dust to healing injuries & not getting injured!

Oh. My. God!!!

LOVE the 2-course challenge medal and so grateful to be running the inaugural 10K and challenge!

Maybe I missed it but what's the general thought on the course design for the 10k? A replica of marathon and princess? I REALLY want a different course, those first 3 miles are brutal

I'm guessing it's exactly the same as the WDW and Princess 10K courses. All it says is "through Epcot" in the description.

They just posted the USATF certifications for the Disneyland races last week (a little less than a month out) so hopefully we'll see the courses in early October.

I love the medal for the 10k and the kids face, but the Lumiere medal is my favorite, I kind of wish I'd signed up for that one!

I've never done that course, but I'm actually looking forward to having the first few miles be boring road that spreads everybody out, especially after the SWDS 10k. But they really should try to change it up somehow, just so there is a different look.
