Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

I just updated my proof of time. I wasn't sure exactly what to do. I'm not willing to leave it to chance with a 3 hour half, which is what my POT is for, but definitely don't have a 2:40 or better half. Either way I went in and updated it. I took five minutes off of my time at the same 10K last year, but fell a minute short of my goal. Still a much better proof of time than last year!

I am with you Gretchen...might as well submit. My best 10K has me around 2:56...I submitted cause I really don't want in the last corral stressing.

Right just as it's coming up to my ADR time and I want to get this right, need some advice.

If I'm running the Wine and Dine (am in the last corral but with my training I hope to do it in around 2.30.)

Also as I'm staying at the Dolphin and I am assuming I can walk back through Epcot when I'm finished (Unless they move the end of the race to another location, although I doubt that, but hey it's Disney and they do like to throw curve balls).

Is an 11.30am booking for a Brunch at either Contemporary or Narcoossee's doable?

We will drive instead of waiting for a bus, but is this enough time after the race to walk back shower and get there?

It's doable. But after doing the lunch reservation thing after Dark Side, we wouldn't do it again. It was needlessly stressful having that extra deadline.

If you start in last corral at 6:30 and finish with your goal of 2:30 then that has you finishing at 9:00 so you should be fine. As long as you have a park ticket you can walk through EPCOT to Dolphin. So, say you finish at 9:00 and take an hour to get medal/pictures & walk to Dolphin, that puts you at 10:00 and gives you an 1 1/2 to shower/drive/and extra time for a buffer. So, it would be doable I think. I personally don't like to worry about getting to an ADR so don't do them anymore.

I'm going solo for this trip. Trying to decide if I should make any ADRs for myself. It's kind of cool to have the freedom to eat anywhere I choose, but I'm not sure I want to do any sit down meals by myself.

Also, I'm staying at the All Stars this trip. Since it will be my third runDisney trip this year I'm trying not to spend too much.

i only have one sub 3:00 half and that is also my only race I ran uninjured. My PR for a half is 2:55. My goal is to run uninjured and have fun. Not really looking for a PR, but if I get sprinkled with some pixie dust and get one, that will be icing on the cake. I will probably take it easy on the 10k and get any character stops there and just hope to finish in front of the balloon ladies for the half. I really just don't want to run injured. Doing couch to 10k, so that by the time I really have to start training i will be in good shape.

There are many first time runners at RunDisney events. A lot of them do not submit proof of time. Also there will be those who forget to submit their POT. My advice, if you have a time, submit it. You can only move forward in the corrals.

I'm not sure what just happened, but I just moved my flight up a day and added a night to the beginning of my reservation. Haha!

I've been worrying about getting to the expo late in the day on Thursday and missing out on some of the Challenge merch. So now I'm flying in Wednesday afternoon instead.

I'm worried about this too. Although I unfortunately am not flexible in my plans so there's no way I can get to the expo before Friday. I really hope there are some good things left come Friday (mainly challenge or I Did It shirts and mugs/water bottles), but I'm not too optimistic. I may end up breaking down and purchasing the pin bundle for Lumiere since I'll want something to commemorate the weekend (assuming it goes off as planned this year). That's my main hesitation and hold-up since I got an I Did It shirt last year that's a lie now. :(

I don't know if I mentioned it in this thread, but at Princess weekend there was a truck with an on-demand print machine that was doing the I Did It tees at the race. I thought that would be a cool option so you could buy one after you finished the race. I didn't look for it at Star Wars weekend so I'm not sure if it's always there.

As for the other merchandise, if there is something that you see that you don't want to miss out on let me know. Two years ago someone on here picked up a Dooney for me since I wasn't able to get to the Expo early enough. I would be happy to pay the kindness forward for another runner. It makes me sad to see all the ebayers scooping up the good stuff.

This sounds just like me! I did Princess, Dark Side and now Wine & Dine.
I'll also be traveling solo and staying at Sports.

We won't get to the expo until late Friday morning. Hoping for I did it shirts for the 1/2. I pre ordered my pin and a jacket, hopefully I like the jacket or I'll return it.

How did you pay for the shirt after the race? I wasn't planning to carry cash and/or debit during the run but I will if this might be an option and I don't get a shirt Friday.

I had a 10:40 a.m. reservation at California Grill after Princess and was at the finish line watching my cousin's wife finish from the last corral and still was able to have a parking-lot cocktail with her, do a quick clean-up and clothes change before my reservation. I also drove to the Contemporary.

That said, I likely wouldn't do it again. After the DLH and every race during Dopey, I was STARVING. But after Princess I was not even remotely interested in food so it ended up being a waste for me.

Thanks so much for the offer! That would be fantastic and I will definitely keep that in mind as it gets closer. :) and if I am not able to get anything, I'll have to remember to keep an eye out for that truck.

Well, Wine & dine is just about 6 months away anyone have any goals yet?

A few days behind on the goals discussion, but my main goal for the weekend is to have fun! I'm hoping for a PR in a half marathon I'm signed up for 8 weeks before W&D. So the goal is the get through that training and race, stay healthy, recover, and get ready for W&D. I have no time goals. I definitely want to stop for pictures and take in the atmosphere. But I'd also like to feel "strong" while running through the boring stretches (i.e., highways). :)

I used my magic band. They were even able to tell that I had an AP and gave me the discount.

Thank so much for all the great advice, am going to amend my plans and avoid a Lunchtime ADR as I don't want the stress of trying to rush through everything at the end.

Think I'll rely on QS (for Lunch) and on my way back to the Dolphin I can go via the Boardwalk and stop at the Bakery, if I'm post race starving, and get myself something very sweet and sticky (Well I have just run 13.1 miles so I'll deserve it).

I'll book a early dinner ADR instead somewhere nice as a post race treat...

I'm going solo too, but have some meet-ups planned. I do A LOT of lounge dining for solo trips, or just solo dining in my town.

We decided to go to the Monday MVMCP so we can sleep in that day. Before the party we'll see a movie, tour the monorail loop hotels or mini golf. Though I think we'll end up doing the dine and golf package at Universal one night, it's a really good deal for dinner and mini golf. The plan is getting made, but only through Monday now. Still have Tues-Sat to figure out. Flight leaves Sat evening. Have to decide which of those two days we'll go to Universal and whether we want to do 2 in a row or split it up.
