Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

Nov. 3
  • Expo--do I really need to be at the Expo on Thursday if I'm not running the 5k? Might be better to do this Friday?
Depends... Are you REALLY interested in merchandise? Depending what they have and how popular it might end up being, they could be all out of some items by Thu before noon (she says from recent experiences... ;))

Eh...maybe? I already bought the commemorative pin package, so I know I'm good there. For last year's race I did get a magnet and a tech shirt, but since I'll be getting 3 shirts already with the challenge at most I'd get a magnet. I'm just not sure I want to deal with the ridiculous crush of people first thing on Thursday. We got there just after opening last year and it was so oppressively busy (especially waiting in that huge line to pick up the commemorative items) and then I heard it really cleared out an hour or so later. I'll probably just plan to be there Thursday and if I change my mind later, no big deal.

Makes sense! If there's nothing you're dying to get, why brave the crowds? :)

We always arrive for race weekends on Thu and run all 3 races, so we go to the expo right after dropping bags off at the hotel (usually noon-ish). If it wasn't for doing the 5K, I could see waiting on the expo.

I ordered some of the "In Training" shirts the day registration opened, and was wondering if anybody has heard anything about their status? I think the web site said 3-5 weeks, which is where we're at now.

I haven't received mine yet either.

Thanks to others input about the preorder items. Think I'll wait and see what's at the expo instead.

anyone has any idea on what the discount for the race weekend on rooms with runDisney is ? the wife and I will start looking at prices in the next couple of weeks and just want to get an idea . we are in canada so its a long distance call for us.

Don't think there are any specific runDisney rates anymore. Free Dining came out for that time but Wine & Dine weekend is excluded. Check Special offers on the Disneyworld site for room only codes when they come out for that time, I think they have some thru Nov. 5 out now. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers/vacation-room/

Does Wine & Dine fall under the free dining dates?

I was going to post that there's also a room discount, but it's for dates up until November 5 - so I guess one could use that as long as they're checking in BEFORE that date, right?

The way I read the RO discount was that your stay had to be done by the 5th.

I'm booked through a TA and the discount wasn't applied to my booking and no mention of it so I'm confident that it is for stays through the 5th from everything I've read on the boards and disney's site.

Also pretty sure there's no free dining for all of october and it doesn't start back until Nov 15 or so.

We'll have to wait until the next RO offer comes out to see if it includes the dates.

Nope I haven't either! We should all receive a shipping confirmation email as well. Hopefully any day now!

Lame! I thought I'd heard that the discount could apply if your trip STARTED in the window, but apparently not.

Room only is only on those dates offered no carrying over into the whole trip if dates falls outside the windows. So, you could get the discount on say your first 3 nights if it was included, but not the rest. Free Dining is the one that can apply to the whole trip as long as the check in date falls within the window, but free dining is not offered for wine & dine dates. More room only codes may come out for that time after Nov. 5, they just aren't out yet.

We are currently booked at CBR. Was hoping when free dining came out that our dates would be included, but alas they are not. We can use the room only discount for part of our stay, but even with that, it's going to be more than I think we can afford. Can anyone recommend which value you like best? We've stayed at POP before, but wondering about the All Star resorts.

We stayed at Sports for Marathon weekend and liked it. We could hear the Star Wars fireworks every night , but otherwise it was fine and bus service never had issues. We'll be there again for Wine & Dine. I've stayed at Movies a long time ago & it was fine too. We've done POP a ton of times too, but the smallness of staying at Sports was kind of nice. I don't care for Music's lay out as much just from visiting it, but it's probably just the same as the other 3 for your basic sleep needs, so maybe pick on what theme you prefer.

We stayed at Movies last year and it worked. While it's not our personal favorite, mostly because we don't like to share a double bed and our king request didn't come through, it was clean, basic and the buses ran well. We stayed there because we got a military discount there and couldn't beat it! I also loved that Mousekeeping took amazing care of us! We slept in a lot since it was still a night race and after the Christmas party and they always left us a bag full of clean towels and toiletries. So while we prefer a mod or deluxe, we would stay here again if it fit our situation right.

does anyone know if pop century is a host resort ? no information on the run disney site and when i call they dont seem to know what im talking about

i had asked about the king size beds at the all stars and i was told they are special request for wheelchair access , and not available to regular request

Jumping in late to the discussion. I bought 2 bibs from Acclaim this morning, so assuming everything goes smoothly, I am in for Lumiere's Challenge, and my brother will be joining me for the 10k! This was literally a last minute decision, but I am excited!
