Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

TIP for those going to the party...there are 3 locations to get your wristbands. I just walked the loop the long way and I'd highly suggest skipping the U.K and China lines. They were WAY longer than the one in Future World.

Not sure why they couldn't give the wristbands out at the expo. Seriously, the lines in UK and China were insane!

Faster to exit the park and return in back at international gateway. Really no rush to get back in though as there are NO kiosks own open to buy any food or drinks! Horrible changes this year in my opinion.

DW and I enjoyed the half today. I do have a question you can help me out with. I saw in the guide near the special medals i.e. coast to coast and chateau to castle mention of a medal or award for a "perfect half marathon." What are the qualifications for that? Thanks for your help!

The perfect is for running every single wine and dine half since 2010. My wife and I are both perfect runners but thinking about not coming back next year if they don't go back to a night race. Half the time for the after party, one less park to run through, no drink after the race, and they had half the entertainment this year.

Coast to Coast: 1 Disneyland and 1 WDW race in the same calendar year (both must be at least Half marathon distance or challenge)

Castle to Chateau: Disneyland Paris Half Marathon + 1 WDW or Disneyland race (half marathon, challenge or WDW marathon) in the same calendar year

Perfect runners: have done every Wine & Dine half marathon

For anyone already at the party, are there really only 4 rides open? I know it's Epcot and the pickings are slim, but 4?

I didn't run W&D this year but I went into Epcot tonight around 6pm to see the Delta Rae concert and see all the runners at the festival and as I was exiting after Illuminations the line for Frozen Ever After pretty much reached China,I'm sure the lines for Test Track and Soarin were probably light as it seemed the runners were pretty much going to WS,but that Frozen line looked out of control,if you got in that line you're pretty much looking at spending at least half the after party in line.

I just got here and it does look like it's just the 4 rides: Spaceship, Soarin, TT, and [not] Maelstrom :guilty: (Frozen). The app says Frozen is an hour wait now, which I guess is good for Frozen?

I met snow and dopey then we did test track and soarin. Tt we did single rider and it took about 10 min. Sorin was a walk on. Awesome all redone too. Everything looks good. I think if we weren't so tired we would have gone again.

We ended up skipping the after party. Sleep was more important to us! We had full intentions but after dinner - we just knew we weren't going to make it. Asleep by 10PM and we just woke up at 7AM! (Although my body naturally woke up at like 3AM and then I told it no!)

We're doing EPCOT today before we head to Disney Springs for Dr. Strange and Dinner.

Same here- left Epcot at 8 & walked out the IG past the growing line to validate party tickets.
Magic kingdom today. Greyhound shirt on DW. Challenge race shirt for me. Shula's tonight.

Pretty much exactly the same here last night. We debated until about 7 (and then again when the Packers game ended) and just couldn't muster the motivation. Anyone who stayed for the whole party have reports on crowd levels?

The lines for food were pretty long. This is our first W&D, so I can't compare to past after-parties, but we thought it was a bust. The lines for food seemed no different (if not longer) than a regular night. Huge lines for characters. The only photopass photogs we saw were for the characters, so nothing for scenery. And after a couple hours in, the flow of people out was large and steady.

I could be wrong, but the party seemed very low energy. While there is a lot of icing joints and whatnot immediately after a race, there are still high spirits. I think giving everyone a chance to crash makes it difficult to get back out there with any kind of enthusiasm. (Except for groups that knew each other, there didn't seem to be much talking and sharing. Just resignation to being there.) I highly doubt we'd do this one again as the after-party was part of the draw, and we'd more likely than not just skip it.

But other than that... It was a fantastic weekend! We brought family with us so we got a chance to 'after-party' at the rental house and talk about the races and everything that happened. It would have been nice to have more entertainment on the course, but I had a great race, and it was great to share it with loved ones!

I spent the afternoon at Epcot so by the time the party started I had already had my fill of the booths and had done Frozen with a FP+. I got in line for Soarin' about 9:45 and the line was about 15 minutes long. I walked on Test Track through the single rider line and was headed out to the bus by 10:30.

Ah, kind of glad we skipped it then. Since we're local and have already done F&W multiple times (and of course all the rides), main reason to go would've been to just show off our bling and "I did it" shirts & excitement and meet other runners. Since we were asleep by about 9:30 I think we needed that more. Maybe we'll try to go tonight or tomorrow night just for a chance to wear the medals before it's too late! (I'm 50 and this was my first ever, and most likely last ever, half!).

I thought I read that 12,000 people were supposed to do the 10k. There were only a little over 9000 finishers. Where are the other 3000 people?

I was a little disappointed in the party, too. I don't know what I was expecting, but it's fair to say it was more than 4 rides and a DJ. Soarin and TT single rider were basically walk on and I did Frozen twice in less than an hour (I miss you Maelstrom), but I don't think it was worth it. I'd be really upset if I paid extra for the party.
