Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

I honestly think we have pushed every button on the remote but I will try again...Thanks. :thumbsup2

Anyone else have any ideas or do I need to call Nintendo? :confused3

Paula :goodvibes

Try googling the problem or go to www.nintendo.com

Thanks, I really enjoy silly games so it is right up my ally if I have the patience to unlock all of them. I just didn't think it would/should be THIS hard (having to repeat the same task 25 times on the first level is tedious).

I never throw the cow straight out- he always releases sideways. It was a complete fluke that I beat that one.

Thanks for the tips

I have Rayman 1 and while a little challenging, I only found a couple of the mini games too much for me. Anyway, out of all of the games we have Rayman 1 is the only one that we have to sit closer to the screen or get that error message. You definitely need to be close. I noticed if I was a little too far away, but not getting the error message, that the wiimote wasn't as responsive--maybe that's your problem?

My 8 yr old got Animal Crossing for her DS and really likes it. But she says she has to start over every time she plays. Is there a way to save what she's done so far so she doesn't have to keep repeating what she's done?

Thanks!

Oh, another question. we just got a Wii. My dh got a bundle...I know....shouldn't have, but he knew I wanted it so he got it anyway to make Christmas fun for all of us. But I digress.....It came with what is called a "Memory Card for Wii Console 32mb", but I can't get anything to save to it. It's not a SD card. It's rather large and goes in the slots at the top of the Wii. Any advice?

It should be saving automatically. Maybe she's accidentally starting a new game each time instead of using one of the saved game files. Have you looked to see what she's doing? Do you know if the saved files ever show up as options? Unless she's having a problem with her DS or the game cartridge I don't know what would cause it to act that way.

Maybe the memory card that came with your Wii is a Gamecube memory card. They are larger than SD cards and you have to have one if you want to use the Wii to play Gamecube games.

Sounds like you got a memory card to save games when playing GameCube discs. The Wii also plays all GameCube games so you can buy any of the older used video games at great prices. Here is a description of what I think you are talking about http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/setupGCNMemoryCard.jsp

Hannah Montana

Game says 2 players, but we can't figure out how to get it to recoginize #2

Any suggestions?

Thank you harleyquinn for your response!! That is just what I needed to know, only buy what I need / want......makes sense, I was getting so wrapped up in it!! DH wants a good driving game and loves NASCAR, do they have any NASCAR (or racing) type games, he would be thrilled!! I will probably just take him to the store and let him pick out his own game (like he is a 6 year old!!) :lmao: Happy New Year to all!!

Help!

We already have GH III and have had no problems with it. Last night we bought GH world tour. When we play it, during the middle of the song it pauses. I have tried swapping everything out and I finally figured out that it only does it with 1 of our remotes. I tried to sync it and it still does it.
Any other ideas? Any one else have problems like this?

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like the batteries in that remote might be low. If it wasn't synced, it wouldn't work at all. The only other thing I can think of is a bad connection that is getting agrivated during play.

Well, my favorite racing game in Mario Kart, which would be nice for the whole family, but let me see if I can find anything about good (more adult) racers...

Okay, here's IGN's list of racers with reviews:

You might be able to find the 2 highest rated: Excite Truck or Need for Speed Carbon used for really cheap. Remember the ones that say Virtual Console are downloads.

I've played Excite Truck and really liked it. Its an off road racer.

We have been using rechargable batteriesfor several days, but they wee fully charged last night. And this morning, i took them out and put new regular batteries in, and it still does it. It will wait till the middle of any song and pause, so when you unpause it messes you up. and sometimes it will do it a 2nd time in the same song. GH world tour is the only game we are having problems with.

Weird. You're sure the pause button isn't being triggered by accident? It sounds like there has to be something wrong with the controller based on the description. But I can't imagine why it would only matter with one game.

I'm stumped.

OK I called nintendo and talked to them. We have been using a wii remote charger that plugs into the wii for about 6 days. The guy went through several things. He thinks that the rechargable batteries may have damaged the remote(because they are not wii liscensed or something like that), but he cant be sure. Because it is weird that it is only doing it on that 1 game.

So I still don't haveany answers.ARRGG

If anybody else has had a problem like this please let me know if you got it fixed.

Thanks harleyquinn for the quick replies.

My question is is the wiimote in a guitar or the drums? Have you tried your other wiimote in the same instrament...this would help you discover if it's the wiimote or the instrament.

I know sometimes When we play rockband or gh it's pretty easy to hit the pause button on the guitar also.

Does it happen on the same song everytime or is it pretty random as to when it happends playing GH?

hope you figure it out.

It is in a guitar. I have switched everything around every way possible. It is just the 1 particular remote, doesnt matter which guitar it is in.
Also, it doesnt matter what song, it does it usually around the middle of every song and sometimes a second time.

Oh, also, I dont think it is the pause menu, it actually says warning in red at the top and then says "both controllers are connected", and you can choose continue or quit.

and yes I know how easy it is to hit pause, I was doing it when we first got ghIII, but when I was checking the remotes I played by myself and I know I didnt hit it.

If it was the rechargable batteries, has anyone else had problems with that?

Here's 3 questions for the experts.

Where can I buy a guitar that is not junk for Wii GH relatively inexpensively? DS13 got GHIII for Christmas and loves it but wants another guitar so he can play with friends. The cheapest I have found is about $20 plus $10 shipping on Amazon for the "frontman" guitar. This makes me crazy as I saw it much, much cheaper before Christmas but didn't realize I would need it. Anyway, any ideas?

Also, last year DD16 got DDR for the wii with the mat, we also have a gamecube mat, so we're all set on mats. I'd love to buy Hottest Party 2 but just the game, not including the mat but that doesn't seem to be a choice. Is it available anywhere on its own?

And along those same lines, can you buy "game only" versions of guitar hero if we should need to? Are there any versions that are anything other than "rock and roll"? Maybe some pop or oldies or something?

OK, that's it for today....thanks!

I havn't had any problem with my rechargeable batteries, but I'm not useing the same charger system as you. I use the Nyko 2 wiimote charge. (seems to be the best around by all accounts) It's a little on the pricy side at $25-$30 but well worth it. It plugs into the wall outlet not into the usb port on the wii.(which is also a difference forom the one you have)

It flashes red huh... hit the home button on the wiimote that is giving u the problem and see what kind of charge it's holding. Also does this wiimote give you problems in any other game?

At this point it sounds like a hardware issue (aka wiimote problem) not sure if there is a solution where Nintendo will fix it for you (since the charger your using isn't nintendo sanctioned...maybe tell them your wiimote is acting funny but don't mention the rechargeable pack ) You may have to get a new wiimote.

One last thing I might try is to put regular batteries in the wiimote and try to play GH...see if it happens...if it plays the problem is the battery/charger not the wiimote.

Q1) buyign a second "good" Guitar...you have a few options....1 buy the frontman like you mentioned (not my choice in this matter)...2 Buy the GHIV(World Tour) Guitar Bundle (more expensive) but you get the nice new Gh guitar....3Go to Gamestop/GameCrazy/Eb Games ect. and look for a used GHIII or Gh Aerosmith Wii Guitar should be somewhere inbetween the cost of the other 2 options..better then the frontman as it's the actual Gh guitar but it wont be the one with the touch pad.

Q2) Again look at your local game exchange place or Gamestop...if it's sold new without matt they should carry it...if not usually places like this will sell the game and mat seperattely when sold used. Last choice on Hottest Party 2 look on ebay might get a good deal on game only.

Q3) Yes u can get game only versions of GH games...and even Rockband(espically the trak packs are easy to find) ...For the 2nd part...NO you will NOT FIND anythign other then ROCK. The only way you are going to get other types of games is to go Karioke(sp?) Revolution American Idol addition((since those are the versions for the wii right now)) It's not going to do anything other then let you sing, but they have a nice range of songs form rock, pop, RnB, ect. They Are a TON of fun if you like singing.

Closest to other types of songs on GH you'll get is Aerosmith's "classic tracks" in that game. Metallica Gh is due oth this comming year (I hate Metallica other then Sandman so I'm passing on this..it's also much harder rock then what your askign me about but I thought I'd mention it.) Rockband just got the rights to make a Game or (use in Rockband future releases) all Beatles songs....last I read it's gonna be it's own game due late 09! I can't wait for this one. Honestly Rockband has a much better selcetion of different types of songs then GH..but GHIV(world tour) does begin to get stuff like No Doubt and Even has Beat It (since slash did the guitar for Jacko).

Hope that answered the questions for both of you..if not feel free to ask more!

I don't have any questions, but now that I finally got my wii, can I just say I love it! I'm a middle aged low energy person and I did golf, tennis, bowling, and boxing and man the boxing was kicking my you know what! Sooo fun!

So glad this thread is here to read. Thank you all!

I've spent countless hours over the past few weeks researching my issue, this is the last place I imagined I could go for some help. I'm glad it's here though, 2 of my favorite things all in one place.:)

My problem is this, I bought a Wireless Router (Netgear Wireless N - WNR 2000) to use with Wii and my i-pod Touch. I set the router up and was online with the Wii very easily. The problem comes when I log off-line, the Wii will no longer get back on-line. The Wii still recognizes the signal, but will not connect. Now, if I power down my modem and router, then turn them back on, I can get on-line once again with the Wii, until I log off, then the cycle repeats. I strongly feel this is a Wii issue and not a router issue as I am not having this problem with i-pod Touch. Things I have tried but have not made a difference: 1) Changed Channels in router to 1 and 11. 2) Changed security setting to WPA-[TKIP].

I hope someone is familiar with this issue and has some possible solutions. If not, I've still read a lot of useful information in this thread, thanks.

My DS7 saw SimCity Creator at the store last night and really wanted it. We wanted to wait and try and find it for less than $50. I have never seen this game before. Has anyone played it? And would it be appropriate for an almost 8 year old?

Thank you very much again harleyquinn!!! I really appreciate your help! DH and I will start looking at these so he can pick one :goodvibes

We got a Rockster guitar at Target for our wii. It works for wither RB or GH. Only had it for a ffew weeks but have been very happy with it. The selling point was that it worked for both games. It's bad enough that we have a drum set and three guitars, we didn't want a 4th, too! It was about $40, I think and well worth the cash, to me.
