Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Now that Both Sonic and SSX Blur have come out I am debateing which to get....

Anyone played either???

I've read the Sonic Reviews and am waiting until later today for the SSX reviews...just wondered if anyone from the thread or boards has played them yet and your thoughts.

Wow I can't believe there's a Wii thread! My 2 favorite things... Disney and the Wii!
We just got Sonic, it's so cool!
WarioWare is crazy!
Pangya is my favorite though.

Is Sonic really good? I haven't enjoyed (or paid for) a Sonic game since the genisis died. I've heard that it's a lot like the old (really good) ones.

Just read Ign's Review on SSX Blur....they gave it an 8.5 and their message boards are buzzing abotu how good it is!

Although many are complaining that it takea little while to get used to the control set up and you definately need to do the tutorial.

I definately plan on buying it now...I'll let you know more once I get to play it!

I asked about sports games on another thread but do you think if they previously had the game for gamecube there will be a wii version of the game eventually?

Someone asked about the NFL and they do already have Madden 07 for the wii and the 08 is due in Aug.

Our wii was bundled with excite truck and I was thinking of getting my son Cars for his birthday but can you tell me how similar the games might be? Maybe these 2 are too alike to own both?

He really likes sport games but we already have Madden 07 for GC and I would rather wait for the new one than buy the same titled game. Where do you find out what games are coming out?

TIA.

How old is your son? I ask before we purchased CARS for my DS (he will be five in a few months). It was a total bust, he might be too young but it just didnt hold anyone's attention. We ended up trading it in at Gamestop. If we would have rented it first, it would have saved us $50.

9 and 11 yrs. After reading the Cars reviews, I didn't buy that one. My kids do like Monkey Ball on GC so I was thinking about that game but it hasn't received great reviews either.:confused3

I was in my local Target yesterday and they had SSX Blur copies on the bottom shelf where the wii games were. I didin't realize it hadn't been released yet! Hmm since noone knows it's not out yet, I wonder if they still have their copies? Probably can't get there until later this week though.

Is there a particular game you're thinking of? Most of the sports games are released for all of the consols. Most of the developers of the games are making other games for the Wii now, so it would seem a lot of the games will continue to be on all of the systems.

Blur was released early! So they were probably sitting there as not a lot of people knew. I kinda doubt that it'll be hard to find.

Mario Party is coming in a few more days!!! YAY!

Does Gamestop give you a fair trade? We bought Rayman thinking we would like it but I think DD is a bit too young for it. I'm not sure if we are going to get rid of it at this point but never thought about trading it in.

OK, I'd like to find a wii for the kids (and DH) for Easter. Any tips on finding one?

Depends on what you mean by fair. I haven't seen too mnay used Wii games available, so that might help you.

You never know til you try. I would suggest selling it on ebay though. You'll probably get close to full price that way.

Got my Wii at 8:10am on Sunday March 4, 2007 in Target! I was#11 in line!

This Sunday I found religion in Wii!!!!!!!!!!!!!;) :clown:

My Video game knowledge is very limited. I once played PacMan in 1983 for 5 minutes.

My soon to be 13 yr has a PS2...I never even tried it!!!!!

We have SpongBob...Now what other games do we NEED???????

We wii wii wiied all the way to the hospital. I accidently knocked my 7 year old DD in the head while playing tennis with her. She fell to the floor but was awake right away. I feel so bad but she is going to be just fine, i just have to watch her for the next 24 hours.

She even joked saying that we aren't allowed to play together anymore.

So many questions about the Wii and Im here to help. I have been a proud owner of the wii since the launch date. And I know everything there is to know about the Wii. Im always helping people over at Best Buy everytime I go in there its funny. Yeap, I was one of those crazies that sat in line for 7 hrs in the cold with DH waiting to get the Wii. To answer a couple of your ?s. Anytime you wanna trade a game into Gamestop or EB Games you will get around 50% of what you paid for. So roughly between $20 - $25.00. If you join their member program ($15.00 a year) you will get an additional 10% on top of that amount, plus you would save 10% on all used games, and also get a free years subscription to Gamestop's magazine. Now my favorite subject about the Wii: THE GAMES! The ultimate MUST have game is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. That is the BEST Zelda game made to date! Next up is Excite Truck. If you love racing games, this is the game to get for racing that is out right now. At the end of this month, Burnout 4 will be out for the Wii. Now if you want some games that will let you experience of what the Wii can do, then you're gonna want Elebits, Raymon and Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. All the games are addicting and just simply pure fun! And for anyone who likes Pokemon, they are releasing a Pokemon game for the Wii that looks like its gonna be a game that is gonna be talked about for a long time! If you ever played the other Pokemon games for GameCube or seen them in action, you notice that on the screen you dont see the 2 Pokemon actually hitting each other, like you do in the shows. Well, this time, they out did themselves! This time you get to play and actually see them hitting each other, just like in the show! Here is a link to a trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_i5bg98dB4&mode=related&search=

For those who dont have a Wii yet, keep checking your Sunday Papers. The top Ads to watch out for is Best Buy, Target and Toys R US. A friend of mine just got 1 yesterday from TRU, only because I saw the ad in the paper and my DH called him up and told him that TRU had them in. Nintendo will continue to release them very often in small to medium size orders, so keep checking! Stores are now getting roughly between 20 - 40 Wii's in now either every week or every other week. Oh yeah and if you do have the Wii, make sure you go to Nintendo.com and request your new straps. You can request up to 4 straps per Wii consule and they are FREE. Also make sure that you buy the rubber gloves that goes over the remote and the nunchuck as well (if you can find them). I was able to get both the remote and nunchuck gloves on ebay for a VERY cheap price. So look on there if you cant find them. Also some of you that do have the Wii or will be getting one, whenever you see a Blue light coming from inside the consule where you stick the games in, DO NOT panic. The Wii is simply getting an update and the Wii should NOT be unplugged during those updates. For those who want Wi-Fi Internet Connection and dont have cable or wireless internet connection, Nintendo has now finally released the Wi-Fi adapter that you can buy and put it on the Wii. This will give you the wireless internet connection that you need. Also you may not know this, but you do not have to go to the store to purchase Wii Points for the Wii Shop Channel. You can purchase points on the Wii Shop Channel with your credit card. We have done this before and it is quick, easy and safe. Also, just a friendly reminder, PLEASE be very careful when playing. People have known to get hurt from getting hit by another player or even throwing the remote through their TV's. Make sure you have plenty of room to move around and there isnt anything around you that you might run into while playing. And make sure you use those straps on the remote. Make sure your strap can not slip off your wrist, by tighting the strap and make sure you have a good and firm grip on it. If anyone has any more ?s please do ask and I will get to your questions, unless someone answers your ? before me.

Mario Party is coming in a few more days!!! YAY!

Does anyone have Blur yet? Any review good or bad? DS's bday is coming up and I'd like to get a new game.

My boys like to play FIFA soccer and NBA in addition to Madden. We have those for the GC but they'll want them for Wii too.

Regarding Mario Party, what did you think of MP6? We got that one since it was new at the time and my boys preferred MP5, so do you think they'd like MP for the Wii?

I finally got to play pool the other day w/my son and I won the first game so we played again and we beat me pretty bad.

BTW - In tennis how do serve harder/faster? Like sometimes the other team serves up an ace with the player really jumping in the air, but I can't figure it out? :confused3

To read the review and see video clips of SSX BLur go to

http://www.gamespot.com/wii/sports/ssxblur/index.html?q=ssx%20blur

Gamespot gives it a 7.4 score out 10.0, so its a good score. DH hasnt played it yet but I know he wants it. Me, Im not into sports games unless its racing.

As for Mario Party 8, I havent heard anything about it since the game isnt out yet. I havent played any Mario Party games before, but I just might end up getting MP8.

I to would like to know how to serve faster in Tennis as well. I did it 1 time. I served and when I hit the ball it went super fast. So fast DH couldnt hit it. And ever since then, I've been trying to figure out what I did. :lmao:
