Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

We paid 20.00 for the Brunswick bowling too . We just thought it would
have maybe better graphics or lanes or something. glow in the dark, be more fun or bumperbowling ,, lol

I don't know how to spin my ball even in real life so that would not bother
me if my ball did not spin.

I was hoping the responsive time would be better though , because even
on wii sports we thought it alittle lagging.and found it to be very predictable. (fun but predictable sometimes)

I think when I go to best buy tomorrow I'll just exchange it for
something different.

I have to say though playing the wii has been fun fun fun.
We took the advice of setting it up early so there won't be any
dissapointments on big day. :goodvibes

You've got way more than anyone would every need. Every base is definitely covered.

In the future be sure to buy games and no more accessories. You don't NEED accessories, but you NEED games.

Thanks! I kinda thought I had all of the gadgets covered. But, if you only knew the gadget queen that is my partner, you would know why it's important for me to make sure that she has it all. :rotfl:

I did buy another game for it tonight. In the future, the focus will be on games, but I just had to cover the gadgets first! Happy holidays and thanks again! Maggie

OK I know i have read that the skins that go over the remote and nunchuck dont work if you have the nyko charger, but i was looking at the charger lsat night at bestbuy and can you just cut a little whole in the skin so that the chrger thing makes contact with the base, or does it just not fit period? i bought 2 sets of the skins from circuit city on black friday, granetd i dotn know for what..lol, but wondering if i should keep or not cuz i was thinking of getting hte charger eventually.

Oh CRAP!! I just bought a Nyco Wii charger :headache: Did I buy the wrong thing??? I'm not going to be able to charge the remotes properly?? What should I have bought??? Darn I bought it on amazon it won't be easy to return if I have to.

I thought I had read if you were going to buy a charger then the Nyco one was the one to get ? But if you have after market "skins" for the controllers they won't fit in the charger with them on.

The Nyco charger is the brand you want. We picked up 2 double chargers before Thanksgiving and they work great! The skins interfere with the wiimotes sitting correctly and being able to charge.

TwingleMum - I would not return the charger but the skins instead. We have the free wii 'jackets' or wii-fros as Sarah called them :rotfl: and they have to be peeled up each time we put the wiimote on the charger stand. My family knows to stay back from the tv so now we only put on the 'jackets' when company is coming over and we think things might get a little crazy.

The thing we use the most for my son's is the car charger. He is supposed to charge it at night, but he's 7 and forgets. I'm old and I forget too.

I just got my nintendo DS and I'm so excited! I need games. My son has the new Zelda and Pokemon Diamond & Pearl. I didn't get any games for Hanukah and the chances for Christmas aren't looking good. I wanted Animal Crossing but DH didn't believe I was getting a DS so now I'm going to have to buy it for myself after we get home from Florida.

We do have brain age and a poker game.

Pokemon is addictive. DS played just that game for 2 months.

Sorry! I didn't mean to sound like I was critizing you! I'm used to all the Wii-ers who only want to buy what they NEED.

As for the Nyko charger others have answered and I agree, the Nyko charger is the way to go, you just can't use the skins with them. I'll take the charger over the skins any day.

Gillian - that Zelda game is AWESOME! Each game can hold two files so you might be able to start a game and play while your DS is at school. DS and I have completed the game and my DD is almost finished. It is terribly addictive as well; the stylus usage is so unusual and makes the game SO fun. Enjoy your own DS! I just borrow the kids when they are busy. :rolleyes1

I think that's great advice!

I have to send my brand new Wii in for repair:sad1: At the suggestion of this thread, I hooked my Wii up and gave it a test drive. It played "Call of Duty" great for an hour and a half, I setup some "Mii's" of my family created by "Earnie Elf". I setup the wireless and had the weather and news up. I thought I was done and went to eject the game disc and nothing. I kept pressing eject. I turned the game off and back on. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. No ejection. I called Wii support and they are upgrading my shipping so that they can repair the "eject mechanism" and return the unit prior to Christmas. Good idea to try it out and, if nothing else, an explanation to the wife on why I was playing it.

Wow!!

You're like only the second person I've ever heard about having to send it away.

Please keep us updated on how long it takes to get back.

And let this be a lesson to everyone else to try theirs out now!!

My mother and Grandmother both have DSs and Zelda! 3 generations of my family playing one game. Of course they call me every time they get stuck..."You have to blow into the DS mic to put out the torches, grandma!" :lmao: :thumbsup2

We get the most calls about the map.... "No, you have to CLOSE the DS to get the symbol on the map. No! Don't turn off the game! Just CLOSE the lid!" :rotfl: I really like that game! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Yep! Isn't that like the coolest thing ever? I mean, whoever said, "Hey, what if they have to close the DS?..." needs an award or something.

So that's what DS was doing! :)

I will have to ask my son if I can have one of the saves. After all, I did tell Grandma to buy it for him, and I helped him trap a rat.

Any suggestions for multi-player games with one card?

Mario Kart is the best for sure. It's the one we always wind up playing at my library programs.

New Super Mario Brothers also is good. I know there are more, but those are the best.

I'm sure DH has more ideas.

Ack!

DH just yelled at me for my sub-par review of Brunswick bowling. (as in, my review wasn't detailed enough). :p

He'll be here in a second to fix my awful, horrible mistake.

For my honey, I took the Nintendo DS plunge. I looked at it vs the PSP and it just seemed like there was a lot more in the way of games and possibility with the DS. Of course, she told me last night that she had changed her mind and now wants a PSP at some point, but she didn't even ask for the DS really, just sort of mentioned that one day she would like one. But, being that I had already bought the DS and a bunch of stuff for it, I am not making the change at this point.

Basically, I am looking to see if I missed anything.

DS Lite crimson & black
DS accessory pack with headphones, car charger, game storage boxes, stylus's, and screen protectors
DS mini backpack storage system holds all of the stuff really neatly
Skin for the DS of tribal flames
2 bundles that include a soft carrying sleeve on a wrist lanyard and a cleaning cloth....not to mention a game....got a puzzle game and a dual game of ATV and Monster Truck racing.
Fingertip stylus's.....Overstock
Laura Croft game.....Overstock
Namco Museum game.....Overstock
Tony Hawk Proving Ground game
Jam Sessions game
Pack of picks for a stylus for use with the Jam Sessions game with screen protectors too.
Two longer life batteries off of Overstock
A special screwdriver that you need to use the batteries off of eBay

Did I get it all? Is there some vital piece that I am missing? She is a gadget geek, so if there is some super nifty thing that I am missing, please let me know. Thanks. Maggie

PS. I really don't want to have to buy more games at this point. I am just trying to cover my bases.

DO NOT Use the Extended battery..and send back the screwdriver(send them both back!) As soon as you put in the battery you will have voided your warranty! So if anything happens you will be out a bunch of cash to fix it!

Just thought I'd warn you now.

Has anyone asked about Wii Boogie??? :confused3

If NO: Any opinions?

If YES: Any idea which post?

THANKS!!!

as the DW said....she game a horrible review of Brunswick Pro Bowling.

Brunswick Pro Bowling Review

This Game plays NOTHING like wiisports bowling which is so far the ONLY bowling game on the wii worth owning (and you get it free with the system!)

The graphics are bad, it takes way to long to even attempt to learn, it's set up clumsily.

Once bowling, You set up the alignment and angle of the shot, your guy starts to move, but the movement is disconnected from the actual movement of the player's arm and motion of the Wiimote. (In other words it feels nothing like actually bowling!)

To it's credit it has a career mode, and it is fully liscensed. That said why would you want to play a game that doesn't play as well as the free game that came with the system?

In short...Take it back, get your $20.00 back, Buy yourself something to drink and a nice jucy cheeseburger, and have a fun game of bowling in that which is WiiSports!
