Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

I haven't had a chance to be on in a while. Congrats on your purchase the Wii life is a fun life. Wow for someone who just got a Wii throwing arounf Wi-Fi for multiplayer is a very big thing. It is most likely a good thing it won't have it. 3rd party games online function have been seeing lag times that make the game almost umplayable online. Have fun playing.

Here is my Wii Sports Resort Review.

To start off the game is attractively priced at $49.99 it includes the game and also 1 Wii motion plus accesory. Now you can purchase a second Wii motion plus for $19.99. This brings the cost of the game up to $70.00. The only reason that I am suggesting this is that this game is really fun, but even more fun with more than one person and to play some of the games multiplayer you need at least 2 Wii Remotes. The Wii Motion plus is an all or nothing thing also. If you are using one remote that has motion plus you have to have all remotes that you are using has to have them also.

Now on to the game. This game has all 12 sports unlocked right off the bat. Which is great thing, no fumbling around to unlock a sport you want to play. In each sport there are multiple levels that are unlockable, but all you have to do is play the sport above it through once and it unlocks the next version.

Swordplay,Frisbee,Archery,Basketball are the four new games that are worth the price of this game. They all incorporate the Motion Plus to the fullest extent and make the replay ability awesome.

Bowling, Golf, Table Tennis, Power Cruising are the next batch of games the first three are just like the old versions but just enhanced by motion plus, and when I am including table tennis it is comparable to Tennis on Wii Sports, not Table Tennis on WiiPlay. Power Cruising is a new game that begs the question is Nintendo going to release a new Wave Race game? These are all fun games, but you have played them all before.

Wakeboarding, Cycling, Canoeing, Air Sports. These game are a take a look and see what you think games. They are all interesting, but don't pose a great deal of interest to me. They may fit someone out there, but I played them all and now have moved on with them.

All in all Wii Sports Resort is a must for every Wii owners library. You will have endless fun with this game and it might even not put anything else in the game slot for a while. The only thing missing from this game is that you cannot play people online with this, but Nintendo is all about making sure you have friends over to play, not playing with friends over the interenet. I am not taking the online into account and I am rating this game my highest rating.

Perfect Score Go Out and Buy this game!!! You won't be angry you did.

Hi Justin. Thanks for the welcome and review. Yup this is a must have for us. ::yes::

I think the thread is quiet for a few reasons, but I'm not aware of anything else taking our place.

I don't think it would be at all likely to add wi-fi for TSM.

Reading through your post--you NEED to get yourself the new Tiger Woods with Motion Plus--It's AWESOME!!

Thanks for the congrats! My little Lily is awesome!

Hi Sarah! I believe we are going to get Wii Sports Resort and Tiger Woods 10 at the same time. This way be get (2) Wii Motion Plus thing-a-ma-bobs. :)

Glad to hear that Lily is awesome. :thumbsup2

My husband has played guitar hero (for the wii) at a friends house and really enjoys the guitar part. I was thinking of getting it for Christmas but have no idea what I am looking for. They all look the same to me. We don't need all the other instruments just the guitar. Can someone point me in the right direction?

If I were considering getting one of the music games, I would google the track lists from any I was considering. The song choices are the most important thing, in my opinion. Guitar Hero 5 is about to come out and there will probably be good deals on that one and maybe even the previous ones.

Don't discount Rock Band or Rock Band 2 just because you only want the guitar - you don't have to play the other instruments with that one; as with Guitar Hero you have the option of just using 1 or 2 guitars. Beatles Rock Band comes out soon; if your husband is a Beatles fan maybe that would appeal to him.

I would suggest getting one of the games as a bundle with a guitar. If you want more than one guitar, they do sell some by themselves. Or you could also get another of the games with a guitar as well. (For example, GH 4 and GH 5) I'm not familiar with the instruments for the Wii, and I can't remeber if you can use GH guitars with Rock Band on the Wii, so I don't know if that would be an option for you. But I think it's been covered in this thread and if not I know another poster will know the answer for sure.

Wow... I am here seeking Guitar Band vs Rock Band questions...

We want the complete set. GH 5 looks great, and I love the idea that if they all want to play guitar they can (provided they have extra guitars of course) But at the same time my kids are on the younger side (10,8,6) so I fear GH 5 might be too much for them.

RB Beatles peeks my interest, but my oldest prefers the harder stuff...

How much compatibility is there between the two versions? Do more GH things work with RB instruments or do more RB music work better with GH's things?

Which system is easier at the younger levels... Most sites rate the Expert levels and not the beginner levels.

Which drum set is sturdier?

I need some help! We have rock band and it provides us with hours of endless entertainment. We wanted to be able to both play the guitar. So we bought a 2nd guitar but we cannot get it to work.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

We have Psyclone Essentials Wireless Guitar for Wii. PSE6300.

The trouble shooting section in the set up guide says check:
wireless receiver has been installed and is connected to the guitar - check
batteries are installed - check
guitar is turned on - check
remove wii remote, it's only used for guitar hero - check
press the wake up button as guitar may be in sleep mode - check

DD has been talking about TSM and Band Hero which are both not out yet....any ideas if Band Hero will be as fun as the original Guitar Hero game? Thanks

Toy Story Mania for the Wii? anyone get it this week? How was it?

we got it yesterday, but haven't opened the box yet. I'm trying to save it for Christmas!!

Don't know if I'll be able to make it though!

There's a review of TSM for Wii on the podcast Discussion show this week. It's near the end of the show, I would FF to about 90 minutes in to definitely hear it all.

Maria :upsidedow

thanks--I caved and opened it. It's sun! Way better than the Disney Trivia game we got last year--that one was a major disappointment. DH and I played TSM while the kids were gone yesterday!:rotfl: LOL--now I just have to try to keep it put away til Christmas.:rolleyes1

How about the Wii Active Lifestyle Outdoor Challenge game? It looks like it comes with a pad that you run on. Would 9 and 7 year olds like it? I am looking for an active game for my 7 year old who dislikes going outside!!! Any reviews?

Ok we are looking to get the WII for Christmas. We are a family of 6. I read not to get the bundle but
how many remotes do we need?
where is the best place to buy?

Hold off on buying your Wii, there have been some rumors flying around about a Wii price drop to $199. I would suggest getting the Wii plus Wii Play for the extra remote and an extra nunchuck. This will get you up and running on Christmas morning. If you need extras other than that take a look back through all the posts on this forum. Lots of great people with lots of great things to say about lots of games. Since I don't know what your family likes to play can't really give you any other suggestions. Good Luck and keep those eyes peeled for those Sunday flyers the price cut is coming soon!

2 Wii-motes is the minimum. Get the Wii and Wii play (game comes with an extra wii-mote) For our family of 4, though, we like having 4 wii-motes. No, not necessary. But it makes life a little more pleasant while playing!;)

Do you have this? I went ahead and got it, we love Mario games but we do have a couple that have sat unplayed since we got our Wii almost 2 years ago. I hope this one is a good one.

I don't have it, but I did order it. It gets really good reviews so I thought I'd go ahead and get it for that rpice. Now to decide whether to wait for Christmas to break it out?

So anyone else play Toy Story Mania? I can't decide if we want to get this one. We liked the ride when we went this past August to WDW so I think it'll be good.
