I can do I phone on arm... But new road Id bracelet is starting to bother me. Necessary evil i guess.

Agree the Road ID is necessary, but have you thought of switching to the one that attaches to your shoe?

Yeah, just already bought bracelet. No biggie, just takes some getting use to.

I haven't bought a Road ID yet - good to know that the bracelet vs. shoe option deserves some careful consideration. Then again, I'm already used to my giant Garmin on my wrist. I guess I can get used to anything now. :)

By the way, great screen name, Lerxst!

I have one more week in this knee brace and I am going CRAZY:scared:. I am reading about how everyones training is going and up coming races and all I want to do is go out and run.

Sounds like you are going through something like Taper Madness. :)

Hang in there! When that knee is ready, you will be back on the road and getting ready for Disney! Am I going to see you on the Chicago Marathon course somewhere cheering?

Look at any car vs pedestrian mishap and tell me where the shoes go... They do not stay with the victim and if kind of dark they may not be seen. First responders may never know who you are. Stick with the wrist or dog tag versions.

I was thinking about bringing a Payday with me and cutting it into pieces!

A question for those who have run a full. Do you only depend on the water stops and time your gels, Clif bars, etc for the stops or do you wear a hydration belt so you can wash down your gel when you feel like it?

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards. Please excuse the typos.

Make sure you have road tested the Payday. Nuts tend to be hard on the GI system during a run... Otherwise, go with a fuel that works for you.

I do carry a PowerAde or Gatorade bottle with me in the first 6-10 miles of the marathon. Disney will eventually post the stop locations and in the second half of the race you will find one every mile. It is easier in the back half to line you fuel up with the stations. The front half of the race is a little tougher. Based entirely on the how things were lining on up the half and previous full courses, expect water around mile 2, 3.1, 4.2, 6.2, 7.5, 9 and then once a mile. The miles from 9 through 13 may be a little longer if the RD attempts to keep the count at 21 locations.

Sorry folks -

Been MIA again. I am in charge of my company's greenhouse gas reporting program and reports are due Friday. I am so tied up with trying to get everything in order that I have only had time to kiss the wife, pet the dog, train and work in excel. After that, i just hate to sit in front of a computer. I have a little free time this afternoon and then will be able to pick things back up later next week.

One thing I did notice as I was taking a web cruise break... the Half course has been revised slightly to the start line matches up with the full start line. The old start was at point A on this map while the new location is at point B.

These are the same for the old and new full courses. While a small change, it adds a little distance on the half course where we make the 160 degree turn into the parking lot (then up the mile 12 hill). We now have a small 150 foot out and back at this turn around. Hope the RD puts lots of volunteers there to keep folks from cutting.

That's a good point, I don't mind mine and it gives me a slight sense of security (which is nice on those longer runs).
Also, if it's dark and I have to wear my red flashing light I just clip it to my wrist so it can be seen from the front and the rear.

Just as a head's up: Dick's was having an in front of the store clearance sale today, an additional 50% off all clearance items, which included a moving comfort bra that I got for $13... :)

I will be honest. I only wear mine as a promise to my wife. I did draw the line at the fluorescent yellow vest like construction workers wear.

I absolutely know they had discount tickets last year because I bought a season ticket and when I saw the discounted tickets I was mad because they were so cheap and I had already purchased mine. Someone on the boards here posted a link last year to the discount site through RunDisney.

There was a discount code posted on the boards last year..I used it. I found out later that the code came from a "group" and that some one had posted it in FB and it was picked up and posted here. It was to be for some specific groups. but you know once on FB it becomes very public.

Trying to catch up on this thread. Have been away for a month walking the camino de santiago and now need to train for the full. Glad I signed up before I left, can't believe it is full.

I think it would make using the toilet really difficult! I find it hard enough to negotiate the porta-potties! :lmao: And it might be hot on Marathon Weekend so you might not want long sleeves. A leotard will limit your ability to remove layers if it gets warm. Just my opinion, of course. :thumbsup2

OMG..this is embarrassing..but I never thought about the bathroom part!! Thanks for bringing that up! :)

In February I ran the Princess in very thing long sleeves and stayed comfortable throughout, so I was looking into the same idea. I can't thank you enough for bringing that up! :worship:

Second question -- how's everyone doing on marathon training?

I'm really worried I'm getting too far behind and won't be able to catch up. I work a lot at my job and don't have many weekends off. My longest run so far in the training has been 11 miles (3 weeks ago). I'm worried I'm getting too far behind. :( Am I? If I don't get a 13 in this weekend should I throw in the towel?

I was a competitive gymnast growing up! Glad I helped!

Common answer...depends.

Depends on general level of fitness, are you running it straight through versus run walk, any other health concerns....

Way I am approaching it given some annoying foot problems, I am logging 25 - 30 miles per week. I am taking a bit more cautious route and dropped back to Galloway-ing it.

Without knowing your fitness level, I would try to get in few long runs 16 - 20 miles. If you can get several of those in, you should be okay. Just don't expect PRs. Run/walk and just have a good time!

If you are throwing in the towel with a long run of 11 miles - I might as well too! I just did 11 miles this past weekend and that is the furthest I have ever gone! And actually my Higdon Novice 2 plan only called for 9 - I bumped it up to 11 because I have a half coming up in 2 weeks!

I say keep at it!

I agree, keep at it! You can finish a marathon, no worries!
My longest has been 13.3 miles, with a 4 mile walk total to and from the race. I count it as 17.3 miles lol, since I plan to walk half of it anyway! My goal is to run at least the first 13, possibly 15-16 miles and walk the rest. I will have an easy 20 minutes per mile to walk once I am done running!

I do run/walk intervals, usually run 1:30 and walk :30. My usual runs are 3 miles with 10-11 minute miles, long runs are 12:00-12:30. I've been running for about a year and a half.

I am following the Galloway method and that's why I feel as though I'm too behind to catch up. I honestly don't have enough hours in a week to log many miles and in a non long run week I am only logging between 10-12 miles total. I think that's what has me so worried -- when I see how many miles everyone else is logging!

Thanks for your help! :)
